  1. I agree that there needs to be a Gangplank Galleon stage and music. There also needs to be a giant explosion caused by Lanky Kong, completely obliterating himself, the DK Rap, and every other terrible idea that came from DK64, happening sometime before December 3rd. If Snoop Dogg wants to do Smash bros music, let him do a Kirby song.
  2. Snaking is powersliding from side to side on a straight road, just to get the miniturbos mario kart gives you, for an overall faster forward speed. The reason it was such a problem in MKDS but not in '64 or Double Dash was because the "mini turbos" rewarded for the power sliding were huge, about half the speed boost of a constant mushroom if you snaked properly.
  3. There's a Brawl thread. There was a Twilight Princess thread. Let the mods decide whether a game deserves its own hype thread. It will either get locked or it won't. No use flaming and crying over it. Online mario kart. Let's hope this one turns out better than MKDS.

  5. Yeah, perfect for picking up dirty footprints, shoes or not.
  6. I skipped PS2. Anyone around these forums knows I'm a pretty hardcore gamer. Anti-sony? Think my post you quoted proves I'm not.So why did I skip PS2? I had a gamecube and a kickass PC during the PS2 era. Had lots of games for both. All of my close friends during that time had PS2s so I had no problem bumming a play if I wanted to. Some of my friends' PS2s broke, one friend had his break multiple times. I want technology I can trust won't break - and from what I've seen and played, the PS3 is very well built. Also I'm not much of a movie watcher. I didn't buy DVDs (just rented a few) or just watched movies on the big screen, so no loss of investment. But my latest computer monitor works as a 1080p display so why not? Is this kind of story THAT uncommon? UNRELATED EDIT: I'm reading a lot of FUD about HDMI. My monitor's HD inputs are 15-pin analog, DVI (compliant with HDCP), and component. Would the PS3 disallow anything due to lack of an HDMI connection?
  7. Lol. You miss the point made about you missing the point. Worst noob or most annoying alt, I can't decide either. Also, you forgot to listen to me:
  8. Well, a $500 blu-ray player AND game console, which you can get 5 free blu-ray movies with as a promotion, really isn't that bad a deal nowadays. (Just eBay the movies to folks who don't know about the promo if you don't like them). Especially a good deal if the buyer skipped PS2. The main problem with PS3 right now is a lack of a good library of quality games (and the flood of crappy movies nowadays), excluding backwards compatibility. Big stuff is promised, and E3 can only bring more promises, but the same goes for Sony's competitors.
  9. TP really was a joke when it came to bosses. The hardest bosses in TP were: -The orc, especially on the bridge -The bird that the corrupted twili whistled on grass to call. I beat TP without dying once - A first for me for Zelda games. Embarassing, isn't it?
  10. I liked the n64 bumper way more than the melee spinner. Compared to gooey bombs, cracka launchers, and Groudon pokeballs, it's not too powerful an item. I wonder how many items we'll see before release? Speaking of which ... WHEN IS THE RELEASE? --Drack
  11. To those who say that Wii will never have HD, Think about this: In a remarkable example of pushing a system to its limits, Gran Turismo 4 was able to output 1080i from a PS2. A PS2! Wii is much more powerful than PS2. Never rule anything out. Is HD likely to become prevalent? No. Is it possible? Yep, but after much effort and without a doubt a firmware update. Likely? No, not now. Maybe later in its life.
  12. Stop making consecutive posts. Especially with your huge ass sig.
  13. You just reminded me of Psycho Mantis in MGS Twin Snakes. "You like Zelda games! You've been playing Super Mario Sunshine! ???! I SEE YOU LIKE ETERNAL DARKNESS!!!!"
  14. Probably not. I'm guessing you'll have to turn to eBay to get PS3s that aren't emotionless. However, check this out: Even lighter PS2 in the works: http://www.destructoid.com/the-mighty-ps2-continues-to-trim-down-after-all-this-time-34616.phtml
  15. So I watched the Death Note live action 2-movie set. Spoilertagging. * They had to take a lot of information out of it. They completely removed the Yotsuba arc, having Rem give the note straight to Takada. Mikami, N, Mello were completely removed. The ending was kind of a mix between ep25 and ep37 ... events much like ep37 but with the story at ep25. Misa had black hair wtf. Also Naomi's sidestory was completely different -- They gave Light a new girlfriend who Naomi takes hostage rofl. Demegawa isn't fat. The Shinigami are very good CG, though they gave Rem a masculine voice... I didn't like the movies very much. They needed a better actor for Light, but the actor for Watari was perfect. *
  16. DDR on wii? Nice. Consider it bought.
  17. I've got an idea/prediction. Assist trophies get unlocked as you acquire them as trophies, ssbm style, in the single player. Just a thought.
  18. They're pretty the same thing in today's jargon. "Command-Line Interface" is another term. The origin of "Shell" - Back when computers were first being designed, a paradigm was formed - There were to be 2 kinds of software, that which interfaced with the hardware, and that which interfaced with the user. The software that worked with the hardware became known as the "Kernel" and the software that worked with the user became known as the "Shell," naming computer software like a piece of corn, for whatever bizarre reason. As computers were new, GUI did not exist, so "shell" was completely synonymous with "command line" as that's ALL YOU HAD. However, technically, any software that isn't the kernel is part of the shell. GUIs are shells. Any kind of interface with the user is a shell. But the analogy stuck, so when people say "Shell" they generally mean "Command Line Interface" As for the term "Console" your guess is as good as mine as to its history, but it refers to the command line interface as well in present day usage.
  19. FF4 - Zeromus. The dragons in his room put up a much better fight. The final boss of Kyuukyoku Tiger (Twin Cobra) - It was just another boring end level boss, not as hard as the last few. Metroid Prime 2's final bosses were more numerous than difficult. Mega Man X - I had NO trouble dispatching Sigma. Sting Chameleon was a harder fight SMB1 Bowser. Just another hammer throwing fire breathing turtle, like the last few of em. Hey, why doesn't Bowser throw hammers nowadays? Lance from pokemon gold/silver. 3 dragonites? Lol ice. King K Rool from the original Donkey Kong Country. Now, he wasn't a pushover, but after the insanely difficult platforming level with the fuel barrels -- the last level of the Kaverns, the boss was so much easier to conquer. Robotnik in Sonic CD. Wow. Incredibly easy, as long as you have one ring. Hit him once and the fight's pretty much over, and getting that first hit is cake with a ring. Castlevania Aria of Sorrow: Chaos was a pretty easy boss compared to some of the game's others.
  20. Dugg. I know a ton of you are fans here, and I'm a digger anyway (Dracker, if any of you want to friend me). though at 400+ diggs it looks like it would have already seen the front page by now.
  21. Moves with attack power less than 60 have their attack power doubled.
  22. Board the Platforms would be nice. Some other features from N64 smash I'd like to see are animations when you select a character (like the "woo woo" for luigi), custom animations at the start of a battle (like C. Falcon getting out of his car), those personal touches were missing from melee.
  23. To me, it seems to most closely resemble Poké Floats or perhaps Rainbow Cruise but instead of dynamic platforms on a moving stage you just have a bridge. </dripping sarcasm> Edit to avoid a double post: I always preferred Fountain of Dreams to Battlefield. Even though the platforms protected you from fewer up-smashes, the music was so much better, and it was oh so pretty I always found stages that didn't have gaps on the ends irksome. As long as there's a nice Final Destination, though, I think this stage will be plenty fun. Look how long it is, too. From the pic with the orc guy, it looks like he will hit players as he runs by, that's probably why Atma was drawing the comparison with Onett.
