ClanOCR: DS/Wii Friendcode Database
Drack replied to Arek the Absolute's topic in General Discussion
For those who ARE interested in the vocabulary... STAB Choice Specs (or any other item) Draco Meteor - I usually use this but its section on who can learn it is incorrect. A "Special Wall" is a Pokémon with a high special defense stat. I learned all my strategy from here and here and here and here -

You guys really need to counter things like this. Cookie cutter strategies that WORK are all over the 'net. It's not about what you can dish, it's what you can (and more importantly, CAN'T) counter. The team I was using on IRC a while back was jam packed full of poké clichés like the one pictured above, and it rocked everyone. Edit: To clarify above .. that is Salamence with Choice Specs .. a counter for "CSMence" would be anything with an ice attack that either outspeeds it (Weavile, Starmie, etc) or is bulky enough of a special wall to take it and retaliate (Blissey, Cresselia, etc). There are other clever ways too. For example, a Lucario holding Choice Scarf (Salamence outspeeds Lucario without that item) with the move "Me First." Mence *NEVER* expects its own meteors to rain down upon it, and is weak to them! However, Salamence may use Flamethrower against Lucario instead, and getting hit by it's own fire may not KO it. Without a counter, CSMence will probably use Draco Meteor 140 base power * 1.5 (STAB) * 1.5 (Choice Specs) = 315 SpAtk power, and the next one would land for 158 SpAtk power (Draco meteor halves the user's Sp. Atk till it switches out) then he's forced to switch cause it's weak as hell after that. Or he could choose Dragon Pulse for 180 SpAtk power that doesn't decrease every round. Ouch. -
ClanOCR: DS/Wii Friendcode Database

Database is now accepting Strikers codes. I don't have an icon for it yet so it just has the text "Strikers" where an icon should be. I'll see what I can do tonight about getting an icon. -
I use a 24" LCD MONITOR for tv, game consoles, computer. What I use is a Samsung SyncMaster 244-T. It has inputs for DVI, 15-pin analog (many call this "VGA"), component, S-Video, composite. It's 1920x1200 so does 1080p (1920x1080) just fine. It comes in black too (what I use). I got it for $700 .. not bad for 1080p! The only things TVs generally have over it is sound (I use an audio switch on my speakers to select which device I'm listening to), remotes (Just use on on the cable box if you want a TV remote for channels), HDMI, and things like volume, because I have to change the speaker knobs to change volume. Works for me, but I'm more of a computer person than a TV person. My only complaint is that when it turns vertically, it turns clockwise. If it had turned counterclockwise, I could use it for vertical screen Ikaruga!

Star Fox Adventures: NO. The game was decent, but it was repetitive and not enough in line with the Star Fox universe to really be a Star Fox game. It did change the direction of future SF games, but not necessarily in a good way. It's definitely not a "Must Have" like Star Fox 64 was

Pokémon Diamond/Pearl *FRIEND CODES IN CLANOCR THREAD*
Drack replied to The Damned's topic in General Discussion
Yeah. We're trading like mad in ClanOCR. Use the Friend Code Database I wrote, and join us on IRC - enterthegame server, #ClanOCR channel (If this is complicated I can walk you through it) to chat, arrange trades, battles, etc. I have Bulbasaur, Totodile, Cyndaquil, Mudkip, Piplup, Chimchar, Turtwig for starters. Anyone want one? Also, I trade give you pokérus or items if you like. Note that I work till 6pm eastern mon-fri. -

The age of online Wii games is upon us! (See Wii thread) I am going to need 32x32 pixel icons for Wii online games, for use in the Database. The DS Icons I can rip out of ROMs, but the Wii ones may be be a bit trickier. A possible source is the save file. Like the gamecube saves, these may have little icons in the firmware. If so, they may be rippable. My wii's in storage right now, can anyone confirm or deny this? If the saves have icons, there will br a program to rip them before long. Otherwise, I'll need talented artists to make these little icons. Resizing official logos, etc. may work. We'll see, but it will probably come down to a game-by-game basis. Thanks, Drack -
Disregarding the flame... Here's a sincere question: If the Wiimote/Chuck is the control scheme of choice, what kind of input mapping could be effective and comfortable?
-
I'm sorry, but I'm taking that response with not a grain, but a mountain of salt.Answers have been across the board when Nintendo employees have been asked about Brawl's controls. From my perspective, it's easy to see how a classic or gamecube controller would work - just like Melee did! But a Wiimote + Chuck combo isn't likely gonna cut it. You have A attack, B attack, Jump (Not everyone uses up to jump), shield w/ grab, and shield w/o grab. Unless you want to use the D-pad on the wiimote, that's not going to work out. And if you do,it's not going to be comfortable. I predict multiple control schemes, but I don't think many will use the 'mote. Edit: Bolded a statement.

It seems that, for Czar Diego only, only codes that leave the "Note" field empty can be added. This is really strange as there's nothing special about the note code, just simple HTTP POST. Also it doesn't happen if I import a code under his name, with or without a note so I really don't know what needs fixing. -

I just 6-0'd some folks yesterday with the team I've been planning the past couple days. Read up and build an awesome team, guys, I want this tournament to be fun! Edit: If you need pre-evolved forms with certain egg moves I can breed em for ya! The only downside is then I'll know what poké you're using! -

Not an egg move, but a starting move. Egg moves can only be taught from breeding. -
As they are released, I will be adding WFC Wii games to the ClanOCR Database for easy access to friend codes. I haven't decided how to handle the icons for them though. Every DS game comes with its own 32x32 icon (visible in the firmware to boot the game), but Wii's "disc channel" image is much too large and detailed to scale down anywhere near that size (and is not easily rippable either), so I'd probably have to use some sort of small logo. Do Wii saves have small icons like the gamecube saves did? If those can be extracted from the saves, that will neatly solve the issue.

How are you planning on connecting the non-USB end of the cable to the mouse/batteries?

Pokémon Diamond/Pearl *FRIEND CODES IN CLANOCR THREAD*
Drack replied to The Damned's topic in General Discussion
Also, for those of you who don't frequent the ClanOCR thread, I wrote a new friend code database here: http://drack.1111mb.com/index.php Please enter your codes here. If I imported your code from the ClanOCR thread, register the username, delete the imported code, and recreate it as your own. This way I know who's interested. -
ClanOCR: DS/Wii Friendcode Database

Then what good is it? 1) Arek gets moves, but doesn't see fight to see if they match 2) Opponent sees fight, probably doesn't know every move your poké can and can't learn is. I think a better solution for this would be logging the battle. Record every move you and your opponent make, similar to a chess match. No pokémon lists, no move lists, just have both players log it. If some weirdass move is used, after the battle it can be looked up whether that poké can learn that move (some of the TM and egg moves learnable are just absurd), and if it's impossible, user is disqualified. Even without logs, you can just record what weirdass moves used were, and look them up later. I don't think hacking is that big a threat anyway. You need specific hardware to do it, and most everybody at OCR use legit cartridges. -

Update: Database now accepts Star Fox Command codes. Any other games that need to be added? Let me know title, any fields that are needed (player name, etc.) and code format (ex. 1234-5678-9012 or 123456-789012). -

Database update: andyjayne has provided me with a CSS stylesheet and updated some of my icons to display proper transparancy with it. End result? See for yourself. The database is MUCH prettier And I'm working on writing a form to delete your codes from the database, mainly so that the user can remove imported codes without having to go through me. Edit: The delete form is now online. If it doesn't work, it's probably case sensitive. If that becomes an issue I can force it not to be. -
ClanOCR: DS/Wii Friendcode Database

I just imported a ton of pokémon codes. Don't let it stop you from adding your own info, especially as many of the imports have incomplete info (for example, a lot of folks didnt post their Trainer Name in the thread). Once you do, I'll delete the import duplicate. I'm also considering a "delete all codes matching your username" option, so you could register your name, delete all codes with your name on them (imports), then add the real ones. -

Database update: Everything should work now! Start registering usernames and codes here: http://drack.1111mb.com/index.php Even though I will import the codes in this thread if the users don't post the codes themselves, I have included fields (such as ingame player name, or in the case of Pokémon, whether you have diamond or pearl) that I can't fill in using this thread alone. Also, please let me know what you think about it, and what needs to be added next. -
I found the solution: $code = preg_replace('/[^0123456789]/','',$code);
