We wouldn't be playing on Dolphin if we couldn't. -

Like I said, I don't really care. It's great if a game does open-world well(and that's up to the eye of the beholder, and these eyes say "meh" for the most part), but I'm not going to dock points from a game or flat out avoid it just because it has tunnel vision. To me that says they spent more time making sure it was a tight and well-crafted gameplay experience(ideally) rather than tossing in everything up to and including the kitchen sink and hoping for the best. -
Epic song, yet overrated Evangelion is not.

I can't be the only person who doesn't actually mind linear experiences and who raises his nose at words such as "open-world" and "sandbox". -

I wouldn't be surprised if they do this for colorblindedness, but that doesn't make sense 'cause it only does it once every time you start up the game unless it's a treasure chest. Still annoying though. -

I've been playing it on Dolphin since Friday(I have my bought and paid for copy sitting next to me unopened, Nazis), and I can say that the game runs pretty well, albeit a bit slowly. I recently downloaded the recommended Dolphin revision(7719) however and pretty much all visual issues that I've experienced thus far in the latest revision(smudgy backgrounds and such) have pretty much been eliminated. Just got in an hour in a new game, so I can comment on slowdown in areas like the bazaar or with a bunch of monsters on screen, but thus far none at all. I'm playing with the internal res at 1.5 and could probably try 2, but don't know about anti-aliasing just yet. Work to do now. My system specs are a 1 gig GTX 460, 4 gigs o' DDR3 RAM, and an unlocked Phenom II x4 at 3.5 ghz for anyone who's interested. -

Well excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me, Princess! -
That's probably because a lot of modern anime isn't that great in the first place. I can't really think of any standout anime that's come out post Code Geass and Death Note personally. Most of it's degenerated into redundant Shounen garbage and/or Moe. I've been out of the active loop since the anime adaption of Valkyria Chronicles turned me off pretty badly. Maybe I'm just getting too old for anime's usual demographic. If anyone has any recommendations though, I'm open.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

I can confirm that not only is this game great, but does a hell of a lot to reinvent the Zelda formula. Welcome to the current generation of gaming, Nintendo. The live music does A LOT to enhance the atmosphere of a given area or scene(and there is a certain feature a la Monkey Island 2 in there as well), and the added dimension to Link and Zelda's relationship(as in actually having one) does a lot for the narrative as well. In fact, from what I've played thus far(up to the first dungeon), I'm willing to say that this is the best example of narrative and story set with a mute character since ever(and no, Half-Life 2 is bullshit). Twilight Princess was a great game that sorta used motion controls well, but Skyward Sword definitely feels like the killer app that Nintendo needed when the Wii launched back in 2006 along with Wii Sports to really show what the Wii could do for gaming. It's a shame that it's going to be the Wii's Swan Song. I couldn't think of a better way to go out, though. -
PETA says new Mario promotes wearing fur

I wouldn't necessarily say that this statement proves they think animals are superior as much as they don't view them as inferior, which keeping them as pets, beasts of burden, or research experiments might allude to according to their perception. That being said, I still think they're a bunch of crazies... -
So Mario 3D Land. Hoo boy that's a lot of fun game. It really plays like a mix between Mario Galaxy and New Super Mario Bros, while exploring the history of the franchise from SMB all the way to Mario 64 with a heavy emphasis on SMB3. I'm at the beginning of world 3(they seem to be using the same world types and order as SMB3 as well), and I can say that there are a few tricky levels, and I've died enough times already to have a P-Wing appear at the beginning of the stage... Maybe I just suck at Mario games now. The 3D effect is pretty useful in most levels I've played, although no doubt anyone familiar with platforming(and doesn't suck like I do) should be able to make it through just fine without. Of course people say the difficulty ramps up quite a bit towards the end of the game without it. Worlds themselves are short at 5 stages per and the stages themselves aren't incredibly long from what I've played thus far, but the levels have pretty solid platforming and the different suits and star coins hidden around make it pretty fun to go through a few times. Speaking of the suits, while the Tanooki suit is pretty much just the racoon suit minus flying, I still enjoy whacking enemies and using the tail for precision platforming. It's a good thing you get them relatively often, as sometimes it definitely makes things easier. The fire suit is great as it isn't on a timer like it was on Galaxy. I'm still dying to try the boomerang suit as I haven't seen one yet, but I'm sure it will be great as well. Bottom line/TL;DR: The game is fun, however it treads familiar/safe ground through what I've played mostly. There are a few creative things here and there, and the 3D does add to the platforming(apparently challenging later without). Street Pass adds replayability through new mystery boxes being added. Worth the price of admission in my opinion. The Japanese seem enamored with it as it sold over 340,00 units already.

Blood splatter isn't realistic and there isn't a huge selection of weapons other than default "machine gun" or "sniper rifle". Do not want.

It's official. Leves are way the hell better now. Actually difficult! Also the opening tutorials are pretty good. -

I haven't dealt with random disconnects in a long while, but now with patch 1.19, you get a "leve allowance" that accumulates 4 leves(or more I forget) every 12 hours up to 99 leves, and unless you can auto-retry right after being disconnected, you'll be using one of your allowance points to restart. Also the problem where you can't reconnect for around 10 minutes or so if disconnected will be gone with this patch. -
I can back up the "not very pretty" argument. I'm playing the beta on both my PC and 360, and I can say without a doubt that the PC version is sweet sweet candy, while the 360 version visuals remind me of Bad Company. While not bad, definitely not the same "oomph". Also, the PC version has double the console multiplayer size(64 as opposed to 32) which pretty much makes it my preferred version. The answer is simple: Join the PC master race. Use a gamepad if you can't get used to keyboard and mouse. On another note, the squad-based gameplay of the later Battlefield games is what makes me love a sub-genre of FPS that I usually don't care about(military shooters). Love partying.

That was Sakamoto's bag. Aonuma and Miyamoto might do an OK job.
