  1. As far as arrangement is concerned, the intro is pretty straight forward; too straight forward IMO. Synth coming in at 0:30 adds personalization and sounds pretty awesome. The synth at 1:00 is even better. 1:15 onwards is really, really nice; powerful and atmospheric. Breakdown starting at 1:52 is badass. Climax starting at 2:13 is awesome. Also, using the fx as the ending is pretty clever.
  2. My mind went from "what is this I don't even" to "OMG THIS IS AWESOME" in one second when I first listened to this remix. So much fun; it reminds me of the music in the Katamari Damashii games. Love the vocal parts, btw.
  3. Manages to be upbeat & relaxed at the same time. It's rare for a chiptune to evoke a feeling this relaxed, so the remix at hand is a welcome variation from the usual fare. Nice work, guys.
  4. Only the western version doesn't have the vocals; they're in the Japanese release.
  5. I agree; it wouldn't have meshed well with the rest of the album. It's too minimalistic when compared to the other songs. The panning is spectacular, though.
  6. Nice intro. Fat low-end. Awesome breakdown at ~1:10. Nice choice of synth 1:30 onwards. 2:30 onwards is just intense. Laughter at 4:33 is a nice touch. If there's one thing I had to criticise, I'd say that the distortion on the bass is a little over the top in some places.
  7. Everything I expected, and more. I expected an album that absolutely nails the gritty, dirty cyberpunk feeling of the late 80s/early 90s, and that's exactly what I got. What I didn't expect, though, and what I found to be a pleasant surprise, was how full the soundscape is in many of the songs., i.e. it's less ambient that I thought I'd be. I'm enjoying this. On repeat.
  8. Very chill and smooth; stuff like ~1:40 conjures images of a green field, blue sky, fluffy white clouds and a nice fresh breeze. Even the glitchy breakdown is relaxed, not whoring for your attention, but simply adding some variation to the remix. Nice work.
  9. Ridiculously fat low end; almost a little too fat for my taste. Guitar solo around 2:30 is somewhere between sexy and badass, i.e. completely awesome. I agree about the ending being a bit weak, though.
  10. I second all of the above. The latter part, where the speed picks up, is really nice and funky. If the e-piano around 3:00 doesn't make your feet move/your fingers dance, something's wrong with you.
  11. Downloading without reading the description. I think I know what to expect.
  12. Very nice arrangement; I really like the direction you took with this. Somber, relaxed remix of a source that's usually associated with a rather rocking vibe. The second part picks up some speed, but it still feels laid-back. Also, the warm guitar sound is awesome.
  13. Ohohohoho, exactly what I was looking for. Thank you very much. (now rocking the fuck out to Techno Madness)
  14. The mix doesn't feel particularly repetitive to me, probably because it's under 3 minutes and doesn't overstay its welcome. The solo is pretty darn good, too. I have to agree with some of the criticism directed at the production, though. It really holds back the remix; everything feels rather cramped, and the volume isn't that peachy, either. Nonetheless, nice first effort, and I'm looking forward to more from you.
  15. Very interesting and in-depth interview. Special shout-out to Jimmy for providing a list of who-made-what. But one question remains: who made the music for the lower level in the Afterlife?
  16. Nice use of drums to evoke that certain western feeling. Same goes for the guitar around 2:00 until the solo. Vocal samples were used quite aptly, too, and the Mexican Hat Dance part is plain awesome. I do agree with one of the previous poster in that the remix could've used a bit more variation, especially in the last part. Overall, this song is a quite enjoyable experience.
  17. Every source used here has been arranged nicely. Furthermore, very good choice of instrumentation; especially the synths stand out. Transitions work very well, too. Personally, though, I think that the remix suffers from medley-titties. I find it kinda hard to follow it without having my mind wander off, not paying attention to the music anymore. Something that connects the different pieces and can be found in all of them might have helped. Still, very nice track.
  18. Perfect word for this. Nice, heavy atmosphere; sounds like something you'd hear in a movie while the camera is wandering through some debauched club where everything moves in slo-mo. Personally, I was actually surprised to hear how much BGC got out of the rather ambient source. Nice work.
  19. Nice lo-fi sound, solid arrangement. Doesn't really evoke the haunting feeling of Zelda 3's intro, though, and I think the end could've been done better.
  20. Not going to derail this thread, so I'll just say this much: every language is tied to a certain culture, but not every culture has had the fortune of being so prevalent that we're drowning in written examples and studies of it. If the last speaker of such a "small" language dies, the culture and all it's stories, myths and history die with it. That is, unless you find people who learn, or at least write down and study, the culture. However, seeing as how today's youth isn't particularly interested in the old ways and rather sticks to "modern" languages, there just aren't enough people around to preserve the old languages. A concentrated effort by e.g. universities would be necessary to change this, but unfortunately, they rather continue to analyze Shakespeare for the 500th time.
  21. Arrangement's good, guitars sound nice, and personally, I really like the synths. I do agree with some of the comments made on the drums/kick/snare, though. Production-wise, that aspect could've been handled better.
  22. Seconded, except for the part with the electric guitar. I'm not too hot on it; maybe it is because of how it is mixed, but to me, the sound of the guitar clashes with the rather relaxed, funky vibe of the remix. Nevertheless, great new stuff from the OneUps.
  23. Definitely hearing Randy Newman in there. The piano performance is wonderful, the vocals are good (though a bit quiet), and the lyrics are just pure awesome. Lines like "you're in someone else's castle" and "it's-a-me" are perfect. And I agree with djp; we need more blues piano in here.
  24. Criticising someone is fine, "being mean" is pointless. Anyway, I like the choice of sounds in the remix at hand. Nice soundscape that invites you to kick back, relax, and let all the different sounds and layers take you away.
