  1. Very interesting combination of ethnic and modern instruments/sounds. Furthermore, thanks to all the variation going on in the remix, it never becomes stale. Nice work.
  2. I, for one, enjoyed this remix. Yes, the lyrics don't have much purpose to them; they're just about having fun and getting into trouble. For what they're intented to be, they're spot on. However, as djp pointed out in his write-up, the lyrics sometimes "seem to be aiming too hard for the jugular of those they are bound to offend." Especially Flik's part "I just came on your face! But it's not so bad You got practice with your dad" is way over the top; a little less would've been more. Overall, I enjoyed past works like Da black market and River City Rap more, but still, I'm having fun with this one.
  3. Definitely hearing the Okkusenman influence Sixto mentioned in his submission email. Also, I agree with what previous posters said about the drums; they definitely have some X Japan in them. And of course, there are the sweet-ass solos that are Sixto's trademark, e.g at around 2:20 and 3:20 onwards. Awesome.
  4. Yeah, the intro owns; the phrase "Murder on the dancefloor" came to my mind when I listened to this remix for the first time. Very nice arrangement. As anything chiptune(-y) by chthonic, it's just fun to listen to and to pick out all the elements that create the awesome soundscape. The transition to 6/8 bothers me a little, but that's a rather minor complaint.
  5. I disagree; personally, I find this very lullaby-ish. Peaceful, relaxing, perfect to zone out & fall asleep to. Naturally, this also means that this isn't a remix that is going to grab your attention and hold it hostage for its full length, but since this isn't the purpose of the song at hand anyway, that's not a problem in any way, shape or form. Beautiful, relaxing song. Nice work.
  6. This. In my opinion, it's a bit too "reminiscent". Don't get me wrong, the arrangement is really good, and production is, of course, pristine. However, the whole remix sounds so...old. Somehow, every single sound, every single part of it sounds like I've heard it before, making it a rather uninspired endeavour. It's a good remix, but for me, it's just a bit too bLaNd.
  7. Nice intro. Pretty fat low-end (e.g. 1:17 onwards); exactly how I like it. Very, very nice breakdown. I can see where the people who find this (too) muddy are coming from, but personally, I'm not bothered by it at all.
  8. Definitely nailed the 80's sound. The very beginning with the ultra-in-your-face synth (0:00-0:15) is kinda grating IMO, but once there's more going on, this particular synth isn't as disruptive, though it still rubs me the wrong way. Other than that, pretty awesome arrangement. Nice breakdown starting around 1:30; same goes for the solo around 2:30. Actually, all the breakdowns and solos are frigging sweet.
  9. The beat is phat with this one. Seriously, if this doesn't make you djp or tap your feet and/or fingers, you're dead. Ridiculously awesome.
  10. Nice choice of synths and an arrangement that I can only describe as upbeat and, well, cute. Furthermore, I agree with what was said about the drowning section starting at 2:00. Very nice, playful touch.
  11. Well, uh, AnSo certainly managed to make the song his own, offering a rather fresh take on it. Personally, I can't say I'm too hot on the synths. On the one hand, they have kind of on an awesome sound to them, but on the other hand, they are just one step shy of making me say "ohgodmyears" on turn it off. Which is a shame, because the arrangement is great, the other instruments are well chosen, and the sound effects from the game are incorporated rather well IMO. I'm really torn on this one.
  12. As Rozovian himself said in the submission email, this doesn't sound very Xmas-y, but the wintery feel is definitely there. Nice choice of instruments; the synths stand out especially. I agree with OA on the length. though. For a track this long, it could've used a little more variation, particularly in the second half of the song. I'd like to see Rozovian try something more daring, something that takes a step away from the part1-breakdown-part2 formula. Diggin' the outro, btw.
  13. Put on some good headphones and turn up the volume a bit; there's less silence at the end than you seem to think. Not trying to start an argument or anything, just saying.
  14. Never been a fan of the Power Rangers (I was too old by the time they hit Europe), but this remix is kicking. Once again, Willrock delivers awesome guitar and synth solos, and the rest of the remix is nothing too sneeze at, either. Nice work.
  15. The arrangement manages to recreate the sound, or rather feel, of old Capcom games effortlessly; well done. Breakdown at 3:15 is nice. 4:25 onwards is awesome, nice use of sirens. In my opinion, the remix seems to be a tad too long, though. A little more variation as far as the lead guitar is concerned might've helped combat that impression.
  16. You're bothered by the 5 seconds of silence? Nice space-y synths, but I have to say that I'm not too hot on the distorted voice samples, especially once they become high-pitched (~2:20). The style reminds me of your Hellvetica EP or songs like "Everyone's asleep but you".
  17. Seconding this. Furthermore, I think that the water-fx mesh really well with the bells and the overall rhythm of the song. The stings later on in the song, which Level 99 mentioned, sound like a choir to me. I quite like it.
  18. Dunno why anyone would be bothered by the made-up language; it's not any different from listening to a song in an existing langauge you don't understand. Anyway, about the remix in hand...it's bloody amazing. Voice work and instrument playing are very good (especially the violin), as is the arrangement. It really makes me want to listen to the OST again (I paid outta my ass when I bought it a decade ago, but I never regretted it). Waiting for her next submission.
  19. When I read "contemporary" in djp's write-up, I immediately imagined something along the lines of "concerto for piano, three toasters and a trashcan", but fortunately, this is nothing like what my brain came up with. It's certainly not the kind of music you'd listen to when you're trying to relax. Instead, it's a very interesting piece that rewards you every few seconds if you pay attention to. There's just so much going on, it's mind-blowing. Diggin' the outro, btw.
  20. Nice arrangement, good choice of sounds, loads of variety. Personally, I'm absolutely fine with how "chiptune-heavy" the remix in hand is. Furthermore, the piano-breakdown towards the end is really nice.
  21. I second all of this; especially the choice of instruments and the way the chiptune elements are integrated into the remix stand out to me. The "breakdown" starting at 2:10 is my favourite part of this song.
  22. Very relaxing and smooth, though I agree with what djp mentioned in the write-up: the beat is bit too static. Considering that it's a 4+ minute song, a little more variation would have been nice. Overall, I enjoyed this one.
  23. Ridiculously happy and upbeat song. The synths are incredibly cheesy, but it's not the kind of nasty, disgusting cheese, but the delicious, very tasty variety that these synths are smothered with. I was around in the 80s, I enjoyed the big hair, I enjoyed the synths, I enjoyed the Phoenix Wright games. Perfect premise for enjoying this song. Nice work.
  24. ^I guess nobody mentioned it because it's so goddamned obvious what the title alludes to. QFE The remix in hand has a very interesting sound to it. While most recent orchestral arrangements have a very movie-like sound to them, this one stays true to its video game roots IMO. I don't know what it is, but it just sounds "right", like a piece from some 16/32-bit era RPG. And as was mentioned before, the samples are really, really good.
  25. Seconded. As someone who loves songs like El Lagarto and the music from the very first GTA, the remix at hand is a treat. The choice of instruments is perfect, particularly the guitars and the organ. The sound of the guitar coming in at 0:37 is awesome; same goes for 1:05. Not much to criticise; the ending is a bit abrupt, and the volume is rather low.
