That's a really good question. I perfer to think that that is how the developers give each game it's own personality, but maybe it's just a stupid fad that needs to end, NOW. I never really minded until I saw the Guilty Gear series. I just don't understand what "HEAVEN OR HELL!" means before a match. Then again, don't really know the story line behind Guilty Gear either, so maybe it has some biblical implication that I'm not aware of.

I'm looking foward to downloading this. Free Beatdrop tracks; Sounds like a real treat. I still remember enjoying voilition from your other ablum (it's been a while since I listened to that.)

*cries tears of joy* I'm glad I'm not the only one who enjoys the SC series (sans 3, bleh.) Evilhead, that's true about emulating NeoGeo. I just didn't want this to turn too quickly into an emulation thread because there are still plenty of people who play console and arcade versions of games. Emulation is becoming (well already is) a very viable option for 2D fighters though. The main reason I was bashing SVC is because one day, I was kind of intrigued by the game and youtub'ed it and I found Needless to say, it lost my interest very quickly. And Guile's voice over is laughable.

I find it difficult for anyone to look elegant when playing high bpm songs on ddr. It just limits your time to react and make more elegant step patterns. After a while it just looks like the same three patterns over and over again. Standing on your tip-toes just makes things seem that much more forced. I mean, the only person I can think of who dances like that is Michael Jackson when he moon walks, but he doesn't do that for an entire performance. His heels touch the ground eventually. That's why I like free-styling and just winging songs over perfect-attacks.

Hmmm, Evilhead has educated us. I dunno about SVC though. That game looks like crap from what I've seen. I'll have to look up Rumble Fish; It looks interesting. Sega, did you say you've played Project Justice for Dreamcast before? I've always wanted to try that game out. Edit: and I think the reason Eazy P had the consoles that he did have on the front post is because those are the most mainstream consoles right now. I mean, not that many people I know (read: none) have a NeoGeo. I guess Dreamcast is still viable now, though. Oh, and now that I think about it, I guess you can put up games that are on PS3 and XB's online services, like HSF/ and MK2. I can't think of any others right now.

Aw, You guys are no fun. I was hoping for another Free Mason conspiracy. .... go play your Turtles ;d <---- my attempt at a smiley

Luigi's taunt is one of the more difficult and more humiliating spikes in the game. Just kick someone as they return to the stage. taun spike

While I do respect this guy's skills and realize he's a much better player than I will probably ever be, I don't like his style very much. Looks TOO goofy. That just looks more than a little uncomfortable. *secretly snatches his play-style*

The bracket makes a perfect arrow right now, and it has two equa-disant points on either side of it, too. This must mean something.

So, I was reading on SRK that you can hack the Japanese version of GGX:#R, so that it suppots online multiplayer. Needless to say, I'll be all over this when I get the chance to look into it. Online multiplayer maybe just reason enough for me to get into this series (aside from the purdy graphics, of course.) So, I think you should post something about SSFT:HD and SPFT:HD, eazy P. Those both look promising. Oh, and I bought a generic arcade pad last week. I must say, I'm pretty happy with it considering the circumstances (ie. It's from Pelican. It's wireless. It won't work on my comp.) It was 20 bucks, though and it has dual-system support (xbox and ps2,) so I picked it up anyway. Except for the few times when it randomly loses signal (damn wireless controllers,) the controller works like a charm. SPD's are beatifully simple. I can tick throw/ do FABs/ other things that a controller or keyboard make it impossible to do.

I think this would be a good idea. Not just to fight Jack Tompson, but to mourn together, and gather as a collective community of gamers and have a public face. Unfortunately, yes, they are in dire need of an editor. I read their articles fairly often, and I can't see how anyone just looking at this stuff from a neutral perspective could take the website seriously due to it's unfinished look and bad grammar/ spelling.

OCR01571 - Donkey Kong Country 2 "Tricky Swamp Style"
Broken replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Sorry, I can't give this one the full review that it deserves right now, but I feel that I need to comment after immediately hearing this. I'm really digging the grove here. I love the snare and the really deep synth. The higher pitched synth is prominent, but not over-powering. I really like the sound effects at around 2:30. They create an interesting percussive effect. I didn't notice anything really remarkable melodically, but that's probably not what your were really focused on. This mix is very easy listening. I look foward to more of your work. -
Hmm Max 300 = 300 BPM 300 BPM x2 (or 2x)= 600 BPM 666BPM- 600BPM= 66 BPM!! You're still 66 BPM short! YOU LOSE! Actually, the other Maxes are faster than 300 at some parts, so I'm sure you'll be fine. You have to have an excellent reaction speed to comprehend those songs on 2x (or just have them memorized, haha.) I have enough trouble reading TLOMax on 1x. And by the way, I'm usinig a keyboard when I do this.

Well, aside from the original arcade/ emulated arcade version, the PSx is probably the way to go. That is if it's not on Dreamcast wich it probably is and therefore you should be buying a dreamcast so you can buy it for that system because the dreamcast is a 2d fighting Mecca which I do not own, but it sounds like it is from where I am standing. My two cents. And my plug for Dreamcast. But seriously, I have the psx version and it has the second (or third, maybe) most characters in the alpha series. I think Alpha 3 upper and Max for the GBA and PSP have the largest rosters, ironicaly enough. I've heard of some of the timing being off and animation frames being clipped here and there, but there's nothing horribly wrong with the game, and it has the home console advantages of extra modes. You've got your Survival, Dramatic, Training, and World Tour modes. World tour is a LOT of fun, too.

Or just play the game however you feel like.

I tried Max 300 in doubles once, and it wasn't pretty. It's a little disorienting, but I may have to get into it because I kind of like the idea of more directions to step in but not at angles that are akward (to me), like in Pump. A cool edit of Tsugaru called Tsugaru 180 can be found.... somehwere. I don't remember exactly where I got it, but it's a fun and relatively challenging stepfile.
-
Oh, hell yeah. I knew I forgot about something. I have trouble beating that on my controller/ keyboard sometimes
-
You can adjust the timing window in SM and some home versions I think. The most difficult 9 footers that I can remember beating are Exotice Ethnic and Civilizaton .87 or something like that. Those were also on Ultramix. I did legitamitely beat Can't Stop -speed mix- at the not so local arcade though.
-
*sigh* Japan- where the arcade is neither a mythical beast or a money making gimmick. Sadly, I've never even heard of most of the games you've mentioned. I have seen drum mania before, and it looks like fun.

I don't like how you worded that sentence at all. I know this probably isn't your intention, but you make it sound as if the South Korean government sent a trained killer to America in order to do this. He was a troubled college student who happened to be Korean-American (he had been living in America for quite some time before the incidents, so I assume he was a naturalized citizen.) To me, the fact that he is Korean has little do with any of this.

^ AI is like that in almost every video game. Humans on the whole are much smarter players than a CPU ever could be. That's why fighitng games are best against other people. And, I'm afraid I'm going to have to bow out of this particular tournament because of school work and life and such. I'll probably be around on certain weekends for casuals if I decide to find this game, however. Since I'll be scarce in the near future I'll just take this time to say I've had a blast playing you all in various games. There's nothing like coming together with like-minded people and enjoying a good fighting game. Have fun in my absence

Trying to ressurect the old behemoth, eh? Sounds good to me. How about some info on the Japanese arcade/ console markets from our friends over there (ie. Evilhead.) Like how's arcana heart looking and GGX: accent core?
-
I'm pretty sure yes. I remember a guy playing it in fornt of me at a game convention and it didn't look like there was kanji or anything. I can't remember vividly though. Also, cool idea for a thread Atmuh. I play DDR/SM if you didn't already know. Played PUI once and hated it. (it was in an arcade and the soud system/ lighting gave me a headache ASIDE from the game just being a hard to play imo.) I've beaten Max 300 about three times at my house on Ultramix (the red-headed step-child of Bemani,) so that may or may not count for some people. Haven't actually played DDR in a while until recently. Up until lately, I've been REALLY into SM. I currently have: Step-mix 1 and 2 Bemani originals/ DDR stuff DDR Video games mix (of course I would) DDR anime mix/ some other assorted anime steps Dance Anarchy 1 and 2 DWI 1,2,3 and the Greatest Hits 1 and 2. and miscelaneous hard songs.

Wow, really, already? I didn't realize this news would continue to grow past the national level, but that's just my naivety. This is the age of information. And this is a massive event.

Broken vs. Arek (4-2) should've used fei-long probably. Anyway, I'm going to sleep now, you guys.
