  1. The arrangement feels a bit long, but there is plenty of variation throughout. I think a bit of it could be trimmed to have more dominant source, and give it a little more energy, but as an extended mid-tempo mix, it works pretty well. The samples are a little on the generic side, though the detailed layering helps the song feel better. THe ending was a bit weaker than the rest, due to the solo piano nature of it, but there was a lot of interesting filtering and changeups added to make it feel interesting, sonically. Overall, I feel it's a little close, but I think it does enough right to be considered. Yes
  2. this is the dumbest fake shit I have seen in awhile. Video maker: you are trying too hard.
  3. Interesting take on the source. The structure is way different, but the source connection is pretty clear throughout. I miss the grand presentation of the original a little bit, but the more energetic take is pretty cool and unique. I do think the guitars are a touch too far forward, and that the numerous transitions are a little distracting, but there is plenty of sonic variety. One thing is that a lot of the string samples feel really thin. The guitars are good but dry, the synths are fine, but the strings and piano sound pretty cheap by comparison. The arrangement is interesting but lacks a bit of cohesion between sections, and it feels like a lot of parts are cut and pasted, with new stuff tying them together. Overall it stumbles in a few areas, but is creative and references the source in a lot of new ways. Good luck with the rest of the vote. Yes
  4. Really nice soundscape on this track - The choir sounds very natural, and the synth and orchestra combination is slick. Definitely enjoyed this track.
  5. Cool soundscape overall, and the modulation and tempo change is pretty cool. The constant SFX are a minor distraction, but overall the piece works pretty well. The ending was weak, but the rest of the arrangement was good. The sound balance was solid, and though the brass attack was just a touch behind, everything clicked pretty well. Overall pretty good work on the song. Yes
  6. Definitely hear the connections to megadeth and the original, but there are enough flourishes and minor personalization aspects (which become more and more apparent with each listening) that I am inclined to give this track the nod. Nice playing, good clear production, and a solid theme. Yes
  7. Some cool ideas, but the track is really repetitive, and the levels are all over the place. Some of the synths sound very cool, but are insanely loud compared to the rest of the track, drowning everything else out. Some cool sounds used, but the mixing balance needs to be adjusted, and less overall repetition would help this. No
  8. I feel that the arrangement does get pretty expansive, especially near the end, but it takes a very long time to get there, with a lot of repetition. The samples range from being good, like the drums and some of the pipes, to just ok, like that opening exposed flute. I think the concept of this is very good, but the repetition and time it takes to expand is too long. If you could trim the overall length, while still keeping the expansion, I think this would have a better shot at passing. I also think humanizing some of the melodic elements a bit more would help the overall feel, specifically the flute. No, please resubmit
  9. Pretty nice ideas added to the very classic original; I do agree that it also feels a little too long, but the melody itself is so enveloping that it flows really nicely as a relaxing and extended song. THe piano sound is nice, with just a little bit of delay, and the playing feels very natural. Yes
  10. This is a retty interesting and creative take on the source here, I like it. I can't say that the source is particularly memorable, but the treatment of it in the remix is pretty exciting. Production is decent, though there are a few minor balance changes i'd make, as some elements drift in and out of being too strong. Though some of the sequencing is mechanical, like the flute and the brass, things sounded overall good, thanks to the prominence of percussion and mallet instruments. I do think it could be cleaned up a bit as far as smoothing the wind instruments, and even more dynamics in the pizzicato strings. I really like where this is going, but I think it needs a little bit more polish and nuance. No, please resubmit
  11. That's not really his niche though; He does something very well and is focusing on that. I really want to hear some good hip hop remixes, but I'm not about to ask you for some.
  12. Justin, you forgot to request a song for Sixto to remix.
  13. updated the little chart with 2 more completed tracks. hit me up if you are on the project and have updates/questions.
  14. Beyond the metal transition, this plays it pretty close to the source, but there are a lot of variations that bring it into unique territory, and this resub addresses the performance and production issues I had with the initial submission. I'm good passing this. Yes
  15. Sequencing at the beginning was a bit stiff in the melody, but it worked well enough as an intro. The song itself is pretty solid, and features a ton of different source songs without feeling like a medley. THe drums were a bit upfront, but reminded me more of the snappleman/norg track from the ff7 project in terms of production more than anything else. The sections were personalized and the flow was good. I am good passing this. Yes
  16. This seems pretty decent overall, but the theme seems pretty underdeveloped, and overall it feels very short. Granted, the source is on the short side, but I think that it needs more expansion and less repetition. No, please resubmit
  17. Things started out nice and chunky, though, some of the piano bass notes don't sound in key at all, and the piano was pretty dry. The rhythm tone was good and gritty, but the playing didn't feel tight at all. The leads were nice, but rhythmically, the track didnt' feel like it gelled at all. The vocals felt pretty good, but as far as placement, they seemed a bit buried. Overall a good arrangement, and vocal and lead execution. What is bringing it down is the tightness of the rhythm section and some weird piano notes at the beginning. THis definitely could make it, but it needs some polish. No, please resubmit
  18. The mixing is a little rhythm guitar heavy and scooped, with the leads somewhat buried, but the arrangement works pretty well, with good transitions, and some exciting new material. Transitions are solid, and the drums are good enough with some variations and little flourishes. The weakest part is the ending, which feels pretty weak. I guess a fade sortof works, but I think a more composed ending would have been more satisfying. Overall it works though. Yes
  19. I had a super great time and miss you all. There's a reason this con is one of the highlights of my year. <3
  20. sources: MMX3 Blizzard Buffalo: MMX2 Overdrive Ostrich: "Beef vs. Chicken" My best track in last year's GMRB according to some... and my opponent chickened out. Made in four days or so before I left for a festival. The week after that, my computer hard drive broke. I lost about half a week's worth of music, lots of project wips and other cool stuff - a monumental inconvenience but not a disaster. Lemme take this opportunity to warn ppl that this can happen TO YOU, and that you should take backups of your important stuff. Often. Especially if you're on album projects. PS. It's not part of the MMX series album, so it'd be nice if it was posted before the album comes out... so it doesn't get buried in a flood of other mmx tracks and is assumed to be on the album along with all the other mixes of this source. -rozo (#21613)
  21. yo. have a nice birthday, OR ELSE, SUCKA!
  22. ReMixer name - Eightman real name- Max V. Kravchenko userid - 32137 Submission Information: Title - "Hypnotica" Name of game arranged - Ecco: The tides of times System: Sega genesis Name of individual song arranged - Fault Zone Link to the original soundtrack - Ho! Experiment.. Again. Damn.. I'm not sure in anything here. Combination of electronic and acoustic drums will be a common thing in my future mixes, i suppose. Guitars? When i listened that "solo" at the end of the mix, I thought.. HOLY SH*T!! THATS NOT ME!! But don't expect something special about that:D It's not) Arrangement is simple, as always. Source usage is ambiguous, as always. What else? At 0:50 rhythms comes in and kinda muddying the mix. But it doesn't bother me. Time to say something about the source. Ecco has amazing music and i think lot of ppl think the same. I played this games just few times when I was 10-11, cause my bro knew the cheat to open option menu with music:) But I still remember all of the tracks. Dunno why, but Ecco's music fists to me. And I'll make more remixes for it in future. Thanks to Clem, Emunator and Level99 for feedback and reviews. Special Thanks to Modus for EPIC COMMENT! Best of whatever guys! Bye! P.S. Sorry for my english, if I said something weird)
