  1. In response to that god awful song... Did people know about this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFR__g4_jGw
  2. Muchos Gracias! Of course now DJP prob looks like this -->
  3. Fl Studio Producer ($149) + Sound Font Player ($35) = $175 Also you'll save $ in the future bc Fl has free upgrades. There are free plugins to play soundfonts out there. Does Sonar Home Studio not allow vst plugins? Frankly if you are buying FL for it's piano roll and work flow then def go for it. If you like Sonar's workflow, but you like FL's piano roll I might look into upgrading to one of the Sonar 7 versions since you can customize how it's piano roll interacts. It also has a step sequence built in as well. I don't know the limitations of these features between the different versions of Sonar off the top of my head though.
  4. FYI the price for the producer edition is about to jump up to $199 in a matter of days when FL8 is officially released. A lot of people have bought the producer edition and then bought the Fruity Soundfont to to use soundfonts. Do you have SFZ player for soundfonts with Sonar. With XXL you are just getting more synth and plugins. It's the version below Producer and XXL where features start to get cut. What version of Sonar do you have? 5,6 7? Home, Producer etc...? What features in FL do you need that you would go out and buy it?
  5. Frankly I agree with Coop's and Zircon's approach. They both have the possibility for positive input in a WIP review. Which IMO is a good thing. The difference is that in Coop's the positive feedback is built-in and in zircon's the reviewer will have to add any positive comments at the end "if they feel like it." One fact is, people are lazy and don't like filling out long forms. Zircon's is more likely to be used since it's shorter. To get WIP reviewers to consistently format their reviews in any such way would be accomplishment IMO. The likely scenario for success would be for people to initially adopt zircon's format and then gradually move towards a larger format once the community in general has become comfortable with this approach. I really have to agree 100% with Kanthos. Read the judge's decision thread. Find posted mixes from the past 2-3 years that had NO votes. Then listen to said mixes and see why those judges voted no. It takes time to develop your ears to listen critically. Study professional songs, read up on mastering and production etc... All of the resources are out there to learn this stuff. One of the best things I ever did, to try and improve my critical listening skills, was to stop relying on spectrum analyzers to EQ everything. Try to EQ a song by ear ONLY. It's gonna be messy at first but after awhile your ability to pick apart frequencies will increase dramatically. Try writing a song using SATB part writing. See how everything sounds then. This is a great way to help teach yourself some theory and also get a grasp on how different composition techniques can make mastering songs much easier. If you are tone def try writing different chords with different kinds of dissonance. Try to listen to the differences between the chords with and without dissonance. This will help you to distinguish between dissonant and non-dissonant tones. At the end of day the most important thing is that you have fun making music and that you enjoy the music you make.
  6. Oh man def one of my favs from the project. The groove and Larry's sexy robot man voice are my favs. The song is fairly straight forward in it's delivery and this works to it's advantage IMO. I really enjoyed how layers upon layers of beats and harmonies kept on pushing the song forward. It really gave the song a strong sense energy. Awesome work dudes!
  7. Holy poop! Nice work dude!
  8. Happy Birthday dude! Next time I see you I'm going to take you to...LEVEL 100!!!
  9. This song blows!...just kidding. My only real beef is the ending. Besides that this has so much to offer. My biggest kudos goes to you on the arrangement. The way the melody evolves and is reintroduced several times is awesome. Not an easy thing to keep a melody continually moving forward. The tripped out bassline was an excellent compliment to the dulcimer and synth lead. Good stuff homes!
  10. Shite I had saw that and wondered if it was you. Congrats dude!
  11. Happy birthday to the dude who created one of the songs that inspired me to type "OC ReMix" into google a couple years ago: http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01381/ Thankz for all the awesome music!
  12. Short and sweet but a very heartfelt piece. I really enjoy the simplicity of this mix. The recording quality is not the greatest but it does not subtract too much from the piece. The strings and guitar put in with the piano really create some nice momentum and variation. Compositionally this is one of my favorite songs on the site. It says so much by using so little.
  13. Go toot your horn for the crowd! Good luck dude!
  14. Happy birthday dudette! Hooray for new age musikz.

  17. This is awesome dude. Wave64 wtf what inspired this mix. This reminds of the early 80's and 90's. Excellent work on the vocals, especially on the FX. The vocals sit in the mix very well, but I think it's at the exepense of the other elements. Maybe try panning and stereo image some of the drums and background elements to give them a little more space. Some slight rhythm guitar would def add some nice spice to this.
  18. Here ya go Garageband: http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR01550/ For $200 you can move up to Apple's Logic Express 8 which will give you some very nice tools to work with. You can also get Reason for $200 on Academic discount. It is the full version 100%, nothing is different except the huge price cut! I believe Reaper has a Mac version. Energy XT does as well. Although it sounds like you are more interested in recieving lots of synths and sounds with whatever package you buy. Digital Performer, Cubase, and Live are other options. But for the price the two listed first will give you much better bang for you buck.
  19. Great news Jormungand is back. So Forest of the Black Moon is not available anymore. Welcome back dude!
  20. Woot Officially 10 finished songs right now! Just subbed Blue's and mine track. 4 tracks subbed right now good luck to all! Ziwtra is now handling the bulk of the website design. He had a short demo done that was lookin pretty rad. After talking with various remixers on the proj we got 5 tracks 99% done. We got two new wips from Prophet and Prometheus that sound promising. Keep it up dudes!
  21. Def watch Ghost in the Shell S.A.C. Gantz (cyber-punk) RahXephon (post apocalyptic) Wolf's Rain (post apocalyptic) Full Metal Panic! (all around good show) Blue Gender GunGrave Elfen Leid Also with Berserk IMO it might be advisable to start with the 2nd episode. BC the story itself starts with the 2nd episode. If you watch the 1st episode you'll know everything that happens in the end. Also the site linked below is awesome bc it gives you "similar anime" listings, def worth checking out: http://myanimelist.net/anime.php?id=47
