  1. Deadlines coming up soon, but need to wait for a release spot and endgame evaluation etc. I can't really say how long that will take, definitely aiming for before summer if possible.
  2. Stuff that is clearly not going to pass is often panelled for the sake of providing feedback if we hear a lot of potential. I see that a fair bit. I hope you're talking about google. Please do elaborate.
  3. Yeah within 5 seconds seconds of the drums coming in the optimism created by the intro was diminished severely. Lead guitars are okay, bit hard to hear sometimes. Rhythm guitars/drums could be beefed up substantially. Don't scoop your rhythm so much, it might make them easier to hear but the meat is gone. Drum sequencing is good but they're not punching properly at all. Louda y'all. Bass is... just generally missing. Arrangement is rockin', you just need to make it melt our faces but it sounds to me like this is within your reach, so please do rework this. Don't believe in yourself, believe in me who believes in you. NO, resub plz
  4. 'Off the edge of despair' is clearly party material. Just echoing the statements above really. The ideas here are not strong enough to carry the track for that long. There is some inventive processing here and there, but it could be a lot more polished and interest isn't held by the repetition. You should condense this into a short mix and concentrate on getting the elements to gel together. Also, you can't be serious about that partypartypartypartyparty bit... NO
  5. I can hear so much unrealized potential here. Very nice harmonies, and generally very creative arrangement. All the problems here are in production. Your one person harmony deliveries are often inconsistent in length. Really noticeable due to the very 'essy' recording. It's also inconsistent in volume, as one part is often sticking out from the side which is a little distracting. They can also be very dry sounding, you should have a more consistent level of reverb. Some parts have it, some don't. You could try doing multiple layers for each part to create a bigger sound and a better blend. Lastly the sequencing and mixing of the accompanying parts is pretty weak, mechanical and sparse. I really want to hear an updated version of this. It's a great idea, with a very spooky source. You should try and get as much feedback for this as possible in the wip forums. Keep it up. NO, resub plz
  6. I've transcribed the lyrics for those having problems: ea e a a ea e a a ea e a a ea e a a This is kinda like a cross between Daft Punk and Freezepop, which pleases me. Production is fairly tight, a few dry-ish exposed sounds but nothing distracting. *sigh* fake guitar... I suppose it's not bad as far as they go. Well modulated. Overall all it's a fun little arrangement, certainly has movement in it. YES
  7. *facepalm* I came up with Crystal World this morning, but thank you for you suggestion.
  8. If you read the massive letters in the 'currently being judged' thread you linked to you would've spotted this above the list: Mixes subbed prior to Jan 1, 2011 on the panel Your wip thread is dated 5th Jan, so I'm guessing you submitted it after the 1st of January. That is why it is not in the list yet. It's because we haven't even had a chance to listen to it because we have received so many submissions. There are just a lot of remixes to listen to and not enough people to do it. They listen to every submission, in every style from any games system. The judges do this in their own time for free, and get nothing in return for doing so. Try to understand why it takes so long given what I've just said, and have a little patience.
  9. ^This. Once you get above ratios of 10:1 (with very fast attack), a compressor is basically a limiter for whatever threshold you set. I mean limiters are designed to be a bit more kind in terms of artifacts/leading-edge distortion at that ratio then your average compressor but fundamentally they are the same concept.
  10. It's not too hot at all Mr Sonic. I mean, don't get me wrong it's very hot but stylistically it's what you would expect. You don't normally buy hard rock for the dynamic range. You can argue loudness war debates etc but if you buy a rock album, this is the volume you get 90% of the time. Pretty cool, guitar is a bit out of time at the slowdown, and the vocals are a bit odd sounding in places but it's pretty well balanced. Nice bass sound in particular.
  11. I have been meaning to do a basic rock video tutorial thing for a while but I'm struggling to find a flexible free screen capture program (plus good flexible sound options to do it with. Failure.
  12. Nope. Well not exactly anyway, there are 4 discs now so I'd have to come up with another disc name that fits those or go with a different naming theme. As much as you know I love suggestions, we can figure one out.
  13. We are very slowly choosing a name between us. I wanted the guys involved to come up with the name as they're the dudes putting the work in, but thanks for reminding me to get that moving again.
  14. I'm not sure what your point is here. OCR only has the amount of listeners it does precisely because they don't just post everything without thinking and maintain a certain quality. Albums have been circumventing this to an extent, and solo albums shouldn't be a excuse for getting mixed quality stuff on OCR unless it's all above and beyond OCR quality imo, such are the existing hosted solo albums.
  15. We're not 'frowning' upon them. If people want to make a solo tribute album to their favourite OSTs, they'll do it anyway if they love the music. Why do they need our permission to do it? I'm just saying don't expect us to support it as an OCR project.
  16. This makes no sense. All doing a lonewolf project will achieve is making you more busy, so you can't help out with community ones.
  17. Yer, I'd say 50% of the claims I got for projects I've recruited for came from me personally PM'ing people (not just spamming invitations to 20 people at once).
  18. They are allowed case by case at djps discretion. We don't encourage people to start one with the intention of only releasing it here. You are allowed to post any solo albums you make in community though.
  19. http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Guide-Game-Audio-Developers/dp/1578200830 This book has great example contracts and negotion advice tailored to game composers. Look it up in your local library.
  20. Except that you can't use his avatar (or mine). We be pimpin' the custom shizzle. EDIT: Kuja's Theme is now claimed, as Hy Bound wanted to switch up tracks. I'm pretty happy that the main tracks are covered now (long as no one drops), so far as I'm concerned; when whats claimed is done, the project is done.
  21. As a guitarist, can I just say THANK FUCK FOR THAT!!1
