  1. Cheers Mr Strader and Mr Umlaut Gerdt for thier magical wavs! EDIT: And Archangel .
  2. How do you... I don't even... This is just all around ear candy. (Also gentle FF9 nudge) *runs away*
  3. FFIX is fo-sho less obnoxious with it's characters and storyline then the other playstation installments of final fantasy. It's got plenty of moments of genuine tradgedy and charm. It might seem a touch kiddy at first but don't let that fool you, it gets pretty dark ass. It's also not neccessary to grind at all until the very end bosses, when it's very easy to do so (much like FFX).
  4. Gario is in. No cloud or squall shall hinder him. I guess that leaves: Black Mage Village Kuja's Theme as the only keys left. Surely unto these, ye claims shall come forth.
  5. I just want to point out that pro tools is not really anything special for mixing. It's strengths are tracking live audio, and then editing that audio. It's plugins are pretty good I suppose, but I really see no reason to move it over from cubase for mixing. I use it pretty much daily at work, but I mix just as well in Logic, or on a mixing console. It's way more to do with the plug-ins and outboard-hardware you have then the fact it's in pro tools. If you wanted to do time-manipulation, or drum fixing also, then pro tools wins hands down.
  6. Not anymore . Guess who just claimed it?
  7. You didn't have to point them out for everyone. Half the fun is finding them.
  8. I'm a prog fan, sooo the longer the better. Seriously though, how much development can you really have in 1 minute? When you have a really epic long experience, the end is just a bit more satisfying. Try this one on for size if you dare, longer then most: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POvkTiitZJM&playnext=1&list=PLFD3B636731FBB510 I mean obviously sometimes you want something quick, which is fine too. This thread is gonna be packed with 'that's what she said's.
  9. Well, I know a lot of gamers get 5.1 for their haxbox/PStriple. They might not be the best speakers but good enough for call of duty . If any of the mixers for that matter have any interest in getting their stuff in 5.1 I'll be happy to do it for funsies anyway. I'd be stupid not to use the studio time here.
  10. I'm still asking people all the time about those tracks, but the Boss theme is particulary conspicuous by it's absence. Feel free to hit me up with a concept wip, but like I said earlier; it's gotta be badass or it ain't worth doing. EDIT: Just fyi, I've been speaking to a bunch of engineers at work who do all of their stuff in 5.1 surround. I'm currently mixing the Final Battle prog epic in 5.1 just for fun. Is there any interest in that as a bonus track or summat?
  11. Comments waiting approval? What a colossal douche. The evidence against him is stupidly large and he still won't admit defeat.
  12. Sorry Mr Ghetto, but no professional studio mixing engineer has ever advised me to mix solely in mono. They have told me to occaisionally switch to mono to check for any phasing issues, as a lot of cheaper radio playback ends up in mono. Likewise, all the movie mixing engineers I speak to constantly switch between 5.1, stereo foldowns and mono for the aforementioned reasons when the movie in screened instereo theaters or at home/on tv. However, saying it is industry standard to mix only in mono is just plain wrong. It just isn't. I'm sure theres there odd eccentric engineer who has been doing this his whole life and refuses to do it any other way, but it mixing the whole time in mono is dumb. You mix in your intended release format, and as a secondary goal you make sure it works in mono (or stereo if you're mixing in 5.1).
  13. Black Mage Village is free for now. Given the current deadline it wasn't feasible, and I'm trying to get this done within a reasonable amount of time. So key tracks still open: Kuja's Theme Battle 2 Pandemonium I guess Black Mage Village is kinda key also.
  14. Call-outs? As in 'sixto, make a techno remix'?
  15. Can you be a bit more specific here. When you say you want to release them 'here', do you mean you want an officially hosted torrent, or you want to just make a release thread in community saying 'I made this album, download it here plz' and submit your tracks. The latter you don't even have to ask us about. The former... I mean, if you're gonna submit the tracks to OCR anyway - if the majority of them are OCR passes there's no reason it can't be an officially released album a la Joshua Morse/AnSo's ones. The only concern is you're starting a lot of stuff and then being a bit vague about your aspirations from what I can tell.
  16. The federal commission of T-Pain over-rules.
  17. It's Phi, the golden ratio. 1.618033 etc. And I'm really not that stupid. My pin is my birth year, duh.
  18. My msn name is 'the_west_pig', which sounds like a thinly vieled critique of western civilization. This is unfortunate, as it is actually named after chalk pastel drawing of a pig I submitted to an art competition. I drew it as joke entry in about 45 seconds, cut it up using a lathe and then sellotaped it back together. I came last. My artist name comes from the evolution of my online gaming name. I originally used PotatoGuy, which was probably loosely based on a disguise from the Simpsons. And then I saw some guy on Warcraft III using the name RoboFish, which I though was funny and abruptly stole as RoboFishy. Then for a while I used PotatoFish, which makes even less sense. Presumably one day I dropped the potato - as we all do from time to time - and became Fishy. I regret all of these decisions immensely The 1618 I often use on the end of emails and accounts is the first 4 digits of my favourite number.
  19. I was talking more formal credits. Like, if I just played 12 bars of guitar someone had written, I wouldn't want it being listed as 'X, Fishy'. I would just want a comment in the writeup saying I did it. Still credited but not as an equal partner. I felt REALLY awkward about the 'House of Frogs' credit for example. I didn't write those guitar parts, Prizm did. If anything that mix should have been prophet only, and me and prizm in the writeup credits. Prophet will probably disagree with me there, but eh.
  20. Poolside DELIVERS. I can't describe how good this vocal performance is. EDIT: Oh btw, zircon is on Dark Messenger...
  21. My sincerest apologies sir, for time is short. Send me an abusive pm tomorrow afternoon, for that is my first moment off. Recording a choir CD this weekend, no sleep.

  22. Haha, no worries. It would be nice to hear any updates you have at all though, send me a link when you can even if it's minor changes since last time.
