Sorry but: ...who needs a bass player when you have that monster sound. -
Who else Would've Loved a 4th Black mages Album?
Fishy replied to TGON's topic in General Discussion
I think that their last album was pathetic, and they were heading rapidly downhill. Too much focus on awful vocals, not enough on the polish and rawk that used to seperate them from amateurs like me . Black mages I was incredible though, one of the best vg albums ever. -
Sonic 3 & Knuckles OST sounds amazing on an NES tracker
Fishy replied to justinj212's topic in General Discussion
I'm just getting into tracking at the moment. This is pretty ridiculous. -
Congrats Sole Signal (formerly Audix), you're married!

Or musical babies. Congrats! -
Pretty sweet man. Song's pretty catchy also. ...I'm not gonna lie, a little bit messed up but gamers at least will get a kick.

Loading sample libraries from a USB Hard Drive
Fishy replied to Nabeel Ansari's topic in Music Composition & Production
I assume it's probably similar to the experience I have running games from an external hard drive. Your load time is severly compromised, but once it's in your RAM you don't notice any performance drop until you try and stream data. -
Oh look, it's a pokemon album that's completely finished and waiting to come out: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=4733

Thought I should mention that although I could not accept your kind offer, I am usually available for guitar/acoustic/bass.

Pretty owned, but too wordy. Oh shit there's me, woo!
-
Oh, well spotted. I assumed it was in the first post text too. I'll just put it back in now. Hopefully you've reconsidered insinuating my decisions aren't final and thought through... .

Taking the steps to get these tracks filled, but only by dudes who are bad enough to kidnap the princess. Funnily enough, to remix was is essentially the music to a dude in a maze, we welcome none other then Mazedude. Fun.

I like that one, reminds me of blue OCR whichever that one was.

Maybe get some different controllers for each square? I dunno, it's cool and all but it's too 'original' in style to me. Doesn't really have any OCR style traits. For example the OCR colours are silver and orange. It also doesn't have the OCR logo really, just elements from it (the controller and the headphones but seperate). It's great if you want an original cover but to me it doesn't shout OCR.

This guy is always hacking shit up with swords to my music: (at the very end)I obviously wrote Omnislash with freeline skate tutorials in mind also: I get a lot of boring pokeman and WoW battles to my stuff too. That's about it.

Anyone can audition. Looking for at least OC quality, and I will be in judge mode. [Transform]

OCR02189 - *YES* Chrono Trigger 'The Frog Dance'
Fishy replied to Liontamer's topic in Judges Decisions
Yo Vig, I'm real happy for you and imma let you finish, but I think you guys are being a bit harsh. Sure the style is a little generic but it's hardly "completely cookie cutter" with the really quite sophisticated layering and polyrhythms going on. The sounds used are stereotypical I'll grant you but there's loads more going on here then in some stuff already on OCR. Cookie cutter to me would be removing all the layers and the cool rhythm augmentations and just having kick/bass/leads (of which there is a fair bit on OCR anyway). Cookie cutter is MY trance . My only problems with this are on the production side. Slightly muffly kick, some weird pads here and there but on the whole it's balanced. You're right to say there's nothing overtly wrong but I think Velly has done a pretty good balancing job considering the amount of layers involved. Everything is audible, maybe not crystal clear but good enough for me. I like it. It's euro-gubbins guilty pleasure sorbet, whatever that is. YES -
Updates. Few more wav's in, and lots more wips. Still getting lots of people auditioning which is great to see but there are still several key tracks unclaimed that we're not leaving out. Really? Step up One of the more badass villain themes from the entire franchise. Doo eeet. High energy folking goodness.Loss of MeMega key track here. Great melody. Super ominous moods.

OCR02123 - Sonic the Hedgehog 3 "Red Sphere, Blue Sphere"
Fishy replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Probably my favourite track of Chaos along with Walk on Water. Kinda simple but everything is automated and blended really smoothly and the source is perfect for the style. This was the track that really made me want to play the game again just for the bonus levels, because it's faithful but in a kickass way. Fun name too :3. -
Guitar Rig vs. Amplitube vs. Waves GTR vs. Revalver vs. ....
Fishy replied to LuIzA's topic in Music Composition & Production
I use GRig3 'cause I'm too cheap to upgrade. Actually that's not strictly true. I use GRig for leads (which it works well for), however for really heavy rhythm guitar I find it doesn't cut well. For these if there's one around I use a Line 6 amp or pod of some kind. I pretty much hate digital distortion of any kind but it's my only real option in Canadia. Once I get home you'll be hearing nothing but Ibanez > Suhr Riot > Cornford > SM57. Mo' pure. For the Record: All Line 6: Omnislash Echoes Black Wing Metamorphosis Just Go (this tone got rave reviews for some reason, it's just my normal lead patch with Wah) All GRig3: Mako Eyes Aire Tam Break Beneath the Canopy (although listening back I have no idea how I ever thought that tone sounded good, I suppose it fits kinda) -
I done a wip.

The line in input on most built-in soundcards is so so very bad. If you are serious about recording anything, invest in a dedicated external soundcard. The level is so low because the input impedence of the line input is probably nowhere near matched to your keyboards output = horrible low level sound. Firewire is better but USB is cheaper. For just recording one or two channels though there's no real reason to go firewire.

Pretty unrealistic guitar sample at the start there. A bit too pumped on the compressor, this feels like it's being brick-wall limited. Drums are pretty much on loop. The lead synth is ok but a bit generic. The bass synths are so low it's hard to tell what they're actually doing, and that mega kick is basically masking them anyway. I've just noticed that bass guitar riff you have at the start before the main drums appear is going all the way through the rest of the song, and I mean all the way. There are tons of chords it doesn't fit for, it just makes the whole thing muddy and confusing in the lower registers. Ending is either very lazy or a bounce error. This needs a lot of work in the mixing department, and less compression. That bass guitar loop made it pretty obvious that you are relying on looping way to much. You need a much more developed arrangement to pass, having loops that go all the way through the whole song won't help you keep things interesting at all. NO

I'm with OA and palp here, it's just too repetitive with not much textural variety. Nothing particular builds up. Daft Punk stays interesting by clever use of build ups and sudden changes in texture. Listen to anything on Discovery again, note the sudden keyboard solos or badass pads you get when the drums just stop, and how it builds back up again. That's what this is missing, and why it doesn't stay interesting. Not bad, but could be much more interesting and developed. Some of those robot voices were pretty sucky/gimicky. Vocode your own voice or something, much better. NO, resub plz
