Red Card (xbox, ps2, gc) I have never enjoyed a soccer game nearly as much as this one. Its not even football really, its more of a fight where a ball is also present. And the fighting arena has the same dimensions as a football pitch. And the referee is blind, deaf and very much hittable. As a sports simulation, its obviously useless. If it were real, there would be more fatalities then goals. It doesn't matter who they are, where they are, what team they're on, or even if they have the ball. If it has a pulse, you can put your foot through its face. Oh yeah and you can be dolphins. Video: Whoever is playing this has absolutely no creativity with his tackles. You can do stuff like 2 footed kicks to the face where they actually don't get up for about 2 minutes. They're just flat on their face, presumably dead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftcFh7WB26c

Guitars: Anyone have experience with Ibanez RG1570?
Fishy replied to Skummel Maske's topic in General Discussion
I've had one for years. It is easiest guitar to play that I've ever put my hands on. Tremolo stays in tune for as long as you'd ever need it to. If you want to hear it, listen to any of my remixes. It is a shred/metal machine, but can do any kind of sound pretty well. The neck is unbelievably thin, some people don't like this feature but I think its great. I've had no problems with it that I can remember. I would note that the stock pickups, while very high output, aren't amazing (though they are good for the price I suppose). If you do by one, bear in mind that you might eventually want to replace the pickups. Any other specific questions? -

This site needs Post-Hardcore/punk (with vocals)
Fishy replied to The Vagrance's topic in ReMix Requests
Find me a singer and a suitable source and why not. Way easier then writing instrumental prog imo. -
Battle theme? Jechts theme is a little classical guitar blues groove. You probably mean Otherworld:

Yeah, not interested in Tal Tal anymore. There is about a 1% chance that I ever finish a solo mix.

*NO* Seiken Densetsu 3 'The Forbidden Path' *RESUB*
Fishy replied to Liontamer's topic in Judges Decisions
Intro is a bit weird. Those drum fills are a bit epic considering they didn't actually break into a beat straight away. I like most of the synth sounds, they're quite 80s, as is the amount of reverb. The bass is definitely there palp, my brand new studio quality headphones deem it so. Okay so, there was that empty bit from 2:49 to 3: 11 that felt like it was a build up to something, as if a million instruments were about to melt my face off, but it was just drums, and the bass which didn't get any louder. And the same sparseness continued until we finally got some more synth action at 3:55. So I count a full minute where just... nothing is really happening musically. I get the impression from your name that you like drum solos and fills, but there needs to be something resembling the musical content of the source for most of the mix, and a whole minute of just bass isn't good. Add some more during that section or this just won't fly, and I don't think that this is a conditional problem, imo. The rest of the mix is okay, nearing borderline, but passable. Fill up that space and you should be okay, but for now: NO resub plz -
OCR01976 - *YES* Unreal Tournament 'Forgone Rejuvenation'
Fishy replied to Liontamer's topic in Judges Decisions
I think there's a beautiful irony in this remix. djp coined the term ReMix to mean arrangement, and yet this is probably the most perfect example of a typical remix that you would normally get, and it almost go a no override . Production is flawless. Moving on. This is certainly a total groove mauling on behalf of Nafeu. Beats are relentless, with some nice sample reversing, and even a bit of bit crushing :3. The chords are there, but with their own brand new soundscape. The 3:34 section was particularly nice. I agree with my fellow J's that all the small riff/beat/pad changes should constitute as at least minimal passable interpretation, especially when the production is as amazing as it is, and I think that this is a precedent that could and should be set. Note well that there must be a lot of small scale interpretation, imo. This is the kind of remix that UT players dream of for their noob-raping playlists. YES -
*NO* Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 'Ko Ume Yourself'
Fishy replied to Liontamer's topic in Judges Decisions
Introduction was very shoddy, but once more instruments had joined in things started to sound better. lol, I really wasn't expecting 0:53 at all. Some very nice string runs in this, but the sustained notes are pretty unbelievable. Everything sounds pretty dry. It also gets quite dissonant at times, not necessarily a bad thing :3. Sounded like it had ended at 2:55 and then this bizarre bass comes in. The subsequent key changes are handled quite well, and then the actual ending is okay. I don't think I have any major arrangement annoyances, its quite brave, but there is some thought even if the harmony is not uh... particularly classical in its execution. To be honest though, the production is poor, and when you have dry scratchy samples like these you need to work them for realism. Also the bass instruments just sound like pitch shifted violins, which is never good. Lots of rework needed with respect to velocities and lengths, on the intro especially. I would like to hear a new version of this. NO Resub plz -
*NO* Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 'Serenade of Storms'
Fishy replied to Liontamer's topic in Judges Decisions
The intro and the outro were nothing but lovely, but the production issues were very audible during the bulk of the piece, the use of dynamics and rubato weren't particularly believable to me. Once you have a full version of fl you can spend more time on this . There is quite a compressed sound to this also, whether thats the sample or something you added, I don't know, but compression doesn't have much of a place in a classical piano environment. The writing itself was very nice, and you've done lots to a minimal source. As it is, the production on this isn't a pass to me, and its unfortunate that you can't resub, but you should defiantly invest in a full copy of fl and submit more. NO -
OCR01830 - *YES* Gradius 3 'Declaration of War'
Fishy replied to Liontamer's topic in Judges Decisions
Apologies for the late vote. I suck. Had a read through yonder thread, and whilst it is coverish at times, I think the small scale modifications are enough to carry it. The ending is a bit strange, but there's enough conditional votes on that already. Lovely synth solos, and a bit o' shred near the end for good measure. Production is pretty solid, though I feel like I've heard this drum kit somewhere before . Bottom line, if you were to fix up all the little things for those conditional votes, all my issues would be gone, so; YES -
When you're making a music system, you should always have what you want as your first focus, so what programs do you want to use? You want to ask yourself what software do I want to use, and then you choose the system (and os) that gets you the best result. In other words, if you want to use Cakewalk and some vsts; you need windows. If you want logic, you need a mac. (< I wanted logic, i bought a macbook pro) If you start with what operating system you want, you're limiting the actual programs you can choose from. You said you want to use reason, linux would be complicating things when it works extremely well in windows.

FF7 battle DNB mix (I need harsh critic)
Fishy replied to Auxiliaryinput's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Post original stuff in this forum. http://www.ocremix.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=19 You generally don't get much response for original stuff though. People here prefer to listen to the game remixes generally. -
Aweeesome! Congrats to both of you! I think anyone who listened to vgdj should have seen this coming .

The other two can't possibly compete with Yahtzee, but that makes it funnier watching him ooze negativity as they try and make points. Looks like a good series to me .

He said it to some guy in japan who had made his own votl t-shirt. Its on video somewhere, ask zircon.

If they had a problem with that then they would have a problem with people making the midi's to begin with. As long as your not redistributing the original media, then I'd say they would be really unlikely to have a problem with it As long as you credit the midi's that you can credit, square is unlikely to knock on your door unless you try charging people for it. Nobuo said he liked our ff7 remix album, so you should be fine.

Congrats! But uh... what exactly is happening there?

http://www.songstowearpantsto.com/songs/how-to-actually-wear-pants/ I saw this guy yeeeears ago and I'm totally stumped that he still does this, and pretty well too. I know by themselves they're not much, but when you consider how much he's done, this guy has loads of creativity.

hell yeah, congrats man and best of luck!

Though I would never vote on anything but a jokemix like that, you've got to admit that its friggin funny.

On viewing of the new trailer, I think this movie will be hilarious and I can't wait to watch it loudly with mates in an empty cinema because anyone admitting to liking dbz here would likely be stabbed.
