  1. No, it just happens before it was posted someone pointed out (cause it was already out on votl) that it was actually a different song mixed with the ff7 one. Sorry I can't remember the track, but it was just blatant, no comparison needed.
  2. It happened to Darangen's votl track akshully. He forgot to mention its like, a cover of something else . Went from YES to NO on revote.
  3. I apologise about my shed, i'm having it demolished soon anyway. Also my fingers are mine!

  4. Here's my first wip also, just to force myself to finish it. http://fishy.escariot.net/private/Lunar2.mp3
  5. Hah, no bother mate :P. Uh, for mako eyes, I think I used an Ibanez Rg1570, plugged into a line 6 - spider 212 amp (the green metal setting). Plugged the DI output into the side of my macbook pro (lol - bodge) and just recorded straight in. I think I used logics space designer to give it that kinda distant reverb, no other effects at all. Most of the intro was done using a slide or wham bar. Glad you liked the mix, although AnSo did most of the work :P.

  6. Logic Studio is probably (probably) the most usable music program out of the box, with maybe a close second to reason (but imo logic has much better orchestral samples). You will not be able to use your vsts at all, unless they are also available in AU format, which some are, so do check first. I know there *is* a way to use soundfonts (i think you just convert them into the format that works with the logic sampler), but the process is a bit messy, and you need a windows computer to do any uncompressing. Regardless, I reccomend logic, its quite intuative and fairly easy to get used to coming from another DAW. Macbook pro's I would've highly recommended a few months ago before mine broke out of warranty. If you do buy one for craps sake get the 3 year apple care, it is definately worth the money.
  7. Your stop watching of this track sucks larry, its clearly in the main riff mode for the majority of this mix. I actually thought going in to this track it was a different source, and I didn't even need to be told which one it was and I heard it throughout the whole mix. Sweet lo-fi sounding shit during the break. Awesome guitar, awesome bass solo, pretty good mixing (lil' muddy on the rhythm guitar side), awesome arrangement, what more is there to say? Sweet stuff, well deserved DoD win, and I'm glad all that hotpink drama didn't stop you from subbing more! YES
  8. There wasn't one (and there won't be one) because it turns the site into a favouritist popularity contest that leads people AWAY from music they might have otherwise enjoyed. The site is about enjoying video game music. It wasn't discussed because there was actually an independant one on the ormgas ocr radio site, but that got shut down. I believe the new version of ormgas has its own rating system, but i haven't been there in ages. If you want to give it credit, leave a review or send the mixer a pm/email, works all the same, and is more personal then a 5 or 4 stars.
  9. Any of the candyrat record label basically, their always a good bet. Pino Forastiere Andy Mckee Don Ross Antoine Dufoir
  10. o shi- I forgot about the tagging business. Yeah I spose that is the only reasonable alternative, give it lots of genres!

  12. Ha, you mean one. Wouldn't really describe the others as anything near metal.
  13. So yeah this is pretty much the mix holding back a pretty nice performance. I'm with Jesse on this one also, it sounds very thin, no real bass presence, tinny guitars. Even as is, I'd rather listen to this then the original, auto-tune raped vocals, but the mix has gotta be better, and you might want to think about re-recording the bass making sure you capture the lows properly. I'm sure this would be well recieved once its sounding bigger. Nothing to add that hasn't been said already. NO - Resub plz
  14. Well, the off-beat synth is really jarring to me. Makes it quite hard to enjoy the whole section from 1:06 to 1:57. Had a convo with palp about it and I really do think as a whole, because its only there for 40 seconds, and there's nothing else like it in the rest of the track, that it would be a lot less confusing without it, or at the very least it would have to be on beat. Sooo, this is gonna be conditional at least. The quiter middle section and the bits without the synth are all fine. The bit at 3:35 sounds great, and some interesting arpeggiated parts in the last minute or so. Piano was generally a nice touch, though perhaps a bit mechanical at first, lightens up towards the end. I know there's little bits of odd harmony around, but I think its a nice enough arrangement, and the production is generally capable throughout, but like I said, imma have to insist something happens with that synth before I'm sure on it. YES - CONDITIONAL - fix the timing on or remove bloopy synth.
  15. Hey, my 3 other contributions to this project are done, where's your rap?
  16. Oh btw damned, laptop died so that "secret" track i had is on indefinate hold.
  17. So this is the kind of thing I miss when I'm away. Really stunning stuff, checking out all your other FF songs, they really add to theme's I've enjoyed for ages in ways I wouldn't have guessed. Guess its the human touch. The lyrics are really well put together too. You should definately submit more .
  18. 15 secs into mine, woo tbh its a bit of an "eh" source, but it has some progtential.
  19. I really enjoyed the layed back nature of the first half, the way it slowly brings new parts in. The string samples aren't fantastic, but I think he got away with it just, I think it certainly fits the source. The theremin section was a bit odd, but I love creepy dissonances like that. The second half is kind of a let down compared to that. To be honest, the additions just felt too detached, the strings and brass were playing totally different ideas, not sure I can let that slide, much as I liked the first half. I think just making those harmonies a bit easier on the ears would've been enough for me, but making the drums a bit more interesting couldn't hurt. NO - plz resub
  20. Nice slam style intro, perhaps a bigger build up into the main beat would've been nice, but whats there is fine really. Lots of original ideas peppered over the source, and some nice beats. As noted, the modulation and fx are both strong. Pretty solid production considering the variety of instruments. Ending was a touch weak but again I guess there's nothing wrong with it. Not much to say really, arrangement and production both solid, in a kooky way. YES
  21. It was criminal how they ended the last series, CRIMINAL I say! Can't wait to see if they ever resolve that damn love interest.
  22. Woo! Progress! I've also finally made some ground the dirediredocks arrangement now that i'm stuck with my first wip! Soon as my new pc arrives (this week) its ass kickin time. btw audix, want your name down on cave dungeon?
