  1. Nice to see such high expectations for me. I'm in the first year of a degree learning mostly classical audio engineering and related things. I really don't have time. Its probably very easy to be all "oh making money from composing is easy" when you make enough to have a 6 monitor setup. Just sayin' .
  2. Which would be great if the tv, film or gaming industries wanted me to write them some gay guitar music and I had time to compose it.
  3. Uh Steffan, in case you don't know, a Mesa Boogie stack and the recording head together probably goes for about... maybe $6-7000, I don't know what the rate is atm. That's not including any of those guitars/laptops/fun things.
  4. TWO fucking Mesa's? So that's really fair to all the poor people like me.
  5. I thought baking (apart from the initial production of the tape) was only used really as a temporary fix for binder degradation so that you can recover data? I don't think that its a necessary storage requirement. And whatever effects you get from it probably isn't worth it unless we're talking master tracks of commercial releases. (Not 100% sure if I've remembered this correctly, hopefully analoq can back me up on that) But to answer your question, if its free, go for it. Tape is getting pretty expensive. A top end 30 minute 24-track reel can be upwards of £300.
  6. Like analoq said, that would be a very expensive effect, and you may aswell just doctor the effects above. Also I think that if you want that effect, you should be recording straight to tape anyway, its way more fun (imo).
  7. If you think the album will be good enough, there's nothing stopping you from asking liontamer (cheif judge dude) or djpretzel if it can be one. You don't need an account, the remixes just need to be majority passable as per the submissions standards, and you have to be okay with the terms and conditions of the site.
  8. He's claiming to be bLiNd though, which is clearly not the case.
  9. "That username is already in use by another member." Either your forum r borked or someone likes to play dress up.
  10. Must... resist... joining... moooar...... projects...... No, I can't do it. pm'd.
  11. I read a lotta magazines that say, Mozart a hip hop producer, I'm like, no. Wrong. He a music COMPOSER.
  12. Arrangement was pretty much verbatim with nothing really added to it, which is a no go, as mentioned by Mr Head Submissions Evaluator. Make sure you read the submissions guidelines about arrangement, which pretty much says no straight covers. I found the guitar track a bit weak. You can add a lot of power to a rhythm guitar track by doubling it and panning the tracks, so bear that in mind for your next submission. The lead sound was also a bit blunt, didn't really cut through. The drum tracks were pretty cool, very vintage sounding. I felt that the mixing was a bit too muddy, and even if the arrangement was fleshed out a bit more, I probably would've asked for that to be fixed. Try and EQ down some of the mids on some of the fatter instruments. NO
  13. Fun source. As the other guys pointed out, the additions are nice an all, but there's far too much of them and not enough source. This is something I've already talked to you about already, you really shouldn't be afraid to just use the themes in your mixes more. Take things verbatim, or start with covers and then branch out on individual themes. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with your arrangements per se, they just don't have enough source for OCR. On the plus side, I think you've managed to get across the jungle theme well enough, and while the production is simplistic, its works and its nice to listen, if a little bland. NO resub plz
  14. So basically you're going to remix it, and then maybe ask us if we want it when its done and no ones claimed it?
  15. Valve sell some cool ones, I've got a few Aperture science propaganda posters, and one of the portal cake.
  16. That's a lovely piece of music, nice sound design, I like it.
  17. It was definitely south African, and it was friggin hilarious. I actually couldn't hear any of what he said at the end first time round because I was laughing at it so much. Example:
  18. That looks like some great work there, but we already have the artwork we need. If for any crazy reason we do need more, we'll let you know.
  19. I played a lot of postal 2 back in the day, and the chants in it weren't very melodic at all, definitely NOT valid source material, and even if it was, totally unrecognizable in this remix. Really, this is just an original song "inspired by" type thing that's littered with sfx from the game. If the artist thinks he can prove that 50% of this is musical content arranged from one of those chants, then I've love to read it. Which means... I finally get to say... NO OVERRIDE! Ah yeah.
  20. Nah, we're too cool for him. (I was supposed to be doing a track with a sixto guest duel but turns out i suck and the tracks now open)
  21. What he said :3. Sorry. Also, freed up some tracks.
  22. You can fake it in 3, by using a time stretching edit. Select all the stuff you want to be faster/slower, right click and there should be some kind of option there to stretch it out or compress it. It makes everything look messy and makes it really hard to edit things, but it works as a bodge last resort.
  23. Tyranids; this should be very interesting. I liked the campaign modes from the previous games, and aparently this one is even better. I'll definately be getting this. Hopefully they won't try and make us buy 10 expansion packs this time around.
