Ibanez RG's for around that price will have an ibanez trem (which many people actually prefer to the original floyds) and do the metal job just fine. Their stock pickups are a little blunt tone-wise but they always have the energy and output needed for that kind of stuff, and you can always replace them later on. Definitely worth trying one in your price-range out imo. You usually get a lot for your money with Ibanez. Their mid-range models are brilliant compared to some other manufacturers.

http://fishy.escariot.net/public/Midnight.mp3 Damn that middle bit, its so hard to keep up that rhythm for that long.

As long as you credit them to the mixer and put the ocr url in the credits you can use them without asking. You cannot profit directly from the use of the remixes. Apart from that go crazy. You don't need to let the individual mixers know, but some of them might want to know about it.

Need help with recommendations of various gear to purchase
Fishy replied to Bahamut's topic in Music Composition & Production
Having started with Reason, I disagree with this on reflection. Reason is not a standard format DAW, and eventually you will want to move on from it, like I did to Logic. The switch over was not easy. I think you're much better off going for FL or something a little more standard like cubase. -
OCR01795 - *YES* Lufia 2 'Last Chance' *RESUB*

I'm lovin this. The guitar doesn't sound great in the mix, but the lead synths are brilliant. The drums have a lot of energy, even if they don't have a lot of tone. The whole thing is compressed quite a lot, but the energy is also massive. I can see where most of the issues about the production are coming from, but I don't think they are damaging to the mix or anything. Sure the levels and panning could be more balanced but its not as if I'm thinking that while my brain is being rocked. The arrangement is great, especially the twiddly synth lines which earn you exactly 12 prog points (thats a lot). Basically I wouldn't complain if you did some tweaking to the production, but I really don't feel the need to jump in the way of this. Its not as if whats there already doesn't rawk. At the very least a conditional yes imo, I'm with AnSo on this. YES -

That was amazing. Never heard so much skill in my life.

This almost made me care about guitar hero until I remembered I can play the song on an actual guitar.

Boom tiss prelude? Why not. Hrm, I felt like this took a little long getting to the source. It was over a minute before the actual meat 'n' taters of the source appeared. Once it got there though, I thought the use was great. Very well adapted with style-appropriate additions. The middle break down for the introduction was very much welcome as the rest of the mix is wall of sound as noted. This would fit well with one of GT's dance public addresses. I'm with larry on production. While there is a lot of power in the drums, there is a lot of mud in everything else. I would suggest toning down of the compression/maximization a little. It's noticeably louder then some pendulum I compared it to, which really is unnecessary and is contributing to the mud. Other then that try and cut some lower-mid frequencies out of instruments that don't need it, as they conflict. The arrangement is repetitive, which is fine, but when the production is a little headache-inducing, it kills the tracks listenability. Its not far off by any means, 15 minutes of tweaking master effects could fix this up no problem. YES Conditional: Less mud and maybe a little quieter

We used to rent a few mega drive games from blockbuster way back in the 90's, but really these days, if I play a game at all its because I have an interest in completing it in my own time, be that a few hours or a few weeks. You can't really rent FF style rpgs or online shooters, which make up most of what I play, so I have no reason to rent anything.

OCR01817 - *YES* Tales of Phantasia 'Just Go'

Oh ok I totally knew he subb'd this. Also last minute guitar ftw. -
Banjo-Kazooie had one of the finest N64 scores. The way the music changed throughout the level was great, and there were literally hundreds of tracks in it. He was awesome.

The Kale pack doesn't have a verse 2 vocals sample. Was that intentional? -
lol, typical fanboy response: How dare they betray Sony. They've been together since the beginning of time. ....o wait

Having trouble with guitar stuff...

I was pretty much joking. I get collab requests out my arse as it is. Also nutritious is currently learning the powerchord last time I spoke to him. -

Final Fantasy VII : Mako Rebirth Album on FFshrine
Fishy replied to Lightthrower's topic in General Discussion
The original chiptune is sometimes available for the original ost, never a midi. Sometimes the judges upload a midi in their thread so people can hear the original but thats only if a chiptune isn't available. -

If they're not changing anything in the MIDI they probably should out of politeness as technically the MIDI author did all the hard work. She just tarted it up and gave it a new dress. Imo it didn't make it look any better. -
I hope you get better soon man.

Yeah but what other film are the critics going to brand it a copy of?

I was talking more about the directional style.

I've had the opposite experience to Bahamut. My macbook pro barely ever crashes. It runs SO much faster then my mates laptop which has the same specs but with vista. Logic Pro works like a dream, the only problem sometimes being a need for more ram, which I'm sure I could get done anyway. Don't get me wrong, its not perfect by any means, but for general use and music production, I find it incredible, which it should be for the price I paid. Of course if you want gaming, windows kicks its ass, but with the wonders of bootcamp I can do that too. I can run COD4/UT3 at full specs even when its installed on an external drive. And here's the kicker, it has never crashed in a computer game. I would suggest that you take out some long term cover for it though, as I have heard a few macbook horror stories.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JboQmDIdKWs What do we think? Not bad, but I get the feeling it will be a bit Sin City-ripoffy, even though it was technically first.
