  1. And don't forget how you had to walk 20 miles uphill barefoot while a blizzard was raging to even get to the map. Oh and we didn't have all those fancy 'rocket launchers' and 'scatterguns', we made our own weapons out of sticks and potatoes and we had more fun with them than you darn kids nowadays do.
  2. *cough*rip-off*cough* Okay, joking aside, his is some great stuff. Guitars etc. sound awesome as per usual and even the drums are alright this time round in terms of production. Problem is, drums are incredibly boring and repetitive which really breaks the track for me. A drummer doesnt only use hi-hats and the occasional crash now and then (in fact, metal drummers tend to have like 20 different cymbals) and neither does he continually play patterns as simple as KICK SNARE KICK SNARE KICK SNARE. IMO this suffers from the same problems as your Chrono Trigger submission where you used the same hi-hat pattern for the ENTIRE track, and I can literally feel that the entire track suffers from the bland drums. Please pay extra attention to the drum sequencing this time round; make sure it's not just a backing track to your guitars and bass but make it an inherent part of the arrangement.
  3. It's funny that fastlane is hated by people who, as far as I can tell, are predominantly pyro users (which makes sense, really, loads of open spaces, not enough chokepoints for ambushes, etc.) whereas I usually play scout or medic on it and get awesome runs.
  4. So you want a scientific/musically theoretic description of the feelings these two particular songs evoke? Can't be done, how you experience songs is completely subjective. You say these songs send shivers down your spine, to me they sound like any other generic rpg (battle) theme, definitely not Shimomura's best. The point I'm trying to make is, I don't 'hear' it, what you're trying to describe, so I can't make a theoretic explanation of the 'epicness' of the song, let alone how it would be 'epic' in a different way than the Lord of the Rings theme.
  5. Go with Live-a-live (you should be able to find a translated version of the ROM). Easily the most underappreciated and overlooked Square RPG and for me personally hands down the BEST Square RPG. Think of it as a combination of Final Fantasy V or VI (similar graphics), Final Fantasy Tactics (somewhat similar tactical combat system) and a dash of Chrono Trigger (vague resemblance in settings and storyline). Oh, and it has some incredible music as well:
  6. Reading is good for you. Seriously, how incompetent must a team be to allow an engie to get by their front line and have enough time to set up a sentry outside their spawn? Never mind that level 1 sentries can be destroyed in a few hits by most classes anyway. If an engie manages to pull it off he deserves every kill he gets because it's damn hard to pull off.
  7. For the record, any other class spawn camping (even if its a demo who uses grenades instead of stickies) is alright with me. It's just way too cheap to set up a sticky trap, and the fact that someone HAS to die to even get rid of the stickies (i.e. pretty much a guaranteed kill for the demo) is what annoys me. On the other hand if, say, an engineer would manage to set up a sentry overlooking the spawn (which is obviously way harder than sticky camping) I would laugh my ass off at that, and that engie would deserve every single kill he gets with it for going through that trouble.
  8. Definitely keep it banned imo. The problem with a demo sticky camping is that it's relatively easy for a demo compared to other classes to get to the spawn in the first place because of the sticky jumps, as well as the fact that there really isn't anything you can do against it coming from the spawn because you get instagibbed without the chance to retaliate. (which is less of a problem if say, a pyro or scout is spawn camping, in that case you can always retreat back into the spawn if the need arises)
  9. Bonzai seriously is better though, and not because she's a girl. She does this thing called voice communication which is kind of essential for a medic. Saying stuff like "Spy behind us" or "Soldier to the left" is a fucking godsend.
  10. I picked up pyro for a bit today and it's still a lot of fun imo, even if there's loads of other pyros. I still don't see the appeal in the flaregun and I laugh in the face of pyros who try to use it while I'm blasting them with the shotgun, so mirror matchups generally tend to go well for me. Axtinguishing people is highly satisfying too. Scout is still the most fun class to play IMO, but it gets ruined too often by a huge amount of turtling engineers and pyros around every corner (and SMG crits ).
  11. HAHAHAHA you mean the same project forum where you pretty much abandoned directing a somewhat promising remixing project? From what I've seen your posts haven't been much more than a waste of bandwidth.
  12. Just have to say that Bleck is absolutely right about soldiers being noobcannons in certain maps. I have barely played the class but I tried for shits and giggles on Dustbowl defense 3 and I went with a 4:1 k/d rate (which was aided by the fact that a kritz-happy medic paired up with me, but still..). Even on maps like Steel where I didn't have a constant medic buddy I did relatively well. On the topic of medics, gotta love the ones that just pop a uber without asking when you're not even close enough to the enemy sentries or when all your weapons need reloading. IMO if you're playing medic you just need to use voice comm to be as effective as possible.
  13. Are you saying you wouldn't appreciate my hot disco classics? Edit: AWESOME vid I found, check it out. http://www.gamevee.com/viewVideo/Team_Fortess_2/PC/Epic_final_capture_fail/741916
  14. I resent that statement >=| My personal rules for playing music are: - Only if nobody explicitly states they are against it. - Only if it's less than 6 people, UNLESS everybody explicitly asks me to play some music. Is it necessary to play music to have fun? No, but three heavies alternating between eating sandviches and punching each other with the soviet national anthem playing in the background definitely has a certain charm.
  15. The problems you cited are probably caused by the fact that the Sennheisers fit all around your ears (which I'm guessing the Sony didn't), but most of all because the frequency range you're used to from your old headphones will be more treble heavy and severely lacking in the lower regions as compared to higher quality, more balanced headphones, which will probably make it seem 'muffled' compared to the Sony headphones because of the greater presence of mid and bass frequencies. That or the Sennheisers are just broken.
  16. Yeah because huge letters pointing to the corresponding cp are very hard to follow, right?
  17. Found this, seems pretty genuine to me. http://www.mrlwork.com/post/19 Oh and TF2wiki says something similar. http://tf2wiki.net/wiki/Crit
  18. Isn't it true that the chance of crits substantially increases the better you play? Or more concretely I seem to recall it has something to do with the total amount of damage you've done and the number of times you've died, but I like the way how that works actually. (this would also explain the insane crit rate engies get with the wrench)
  19. Yea I bet Valve meant for every team to have 6 heavies. Playing Sniper is great though atm.
  20. It's been one day and I'm already sick of Arena (not that it's that bad, it's just that the server was on arena maps ALL THE TIME). I manually switched the map to gold rush, steel and badwater a few times but still, I'd say go with two arena maps in the rotation at most. I was actually yearning for dustbowl at the end, and that's saying something. Also welcome back atmuh
