Yeahhh I was a bit too optimistic with my estimate of doing normal in 3 hours max. We got 2 acts done in two hours and two minutes, untwinked and all that, with most people being around level 20 at the end. Not a very stellar result, but good times were had (also many deaths at the hands of BEETLES!) Also, donut, I don't understand how you could complain about bad drops since your barb was doing like 200 damage at the end, which is pretty sick for act 3 normal if you ask me How about we continue our rush tomorrow, same time, same place? Or we could try again, for a faster time with people who couldn't make it today.

Well, provided that we actually have enough time to organize more than one practice run before the reset, I'll try to organize runs with as many different players as possible. The practice runs, however, aren't required, they're only meant to streamline the leveling process once the actual reset hits, at that point everyone will have to roll a new ladder character anyway. So if you can't make it, it's not that much of a tragedy Edit: If you're talking about players doing multiple practice runs over and over, I think it'd be a good idea to just reroll for every practice run. I expect most of the issues with finding correct leveling areas will occur in Normal difficulty anyway, whereas NM and Hell will be mostly a matter of getting to Baal as quickly as possible.

Well the one I've been talking about takes place tomorrow at 3 PM, if it goes well we might do it a few more times this week. Of course there's always the possibility of the patch hitting early, so it depends on that whether we'll be able to do more than one practice run.

I'll set the tentative time at 3 PM EST then, so relyanCe has plenty of time before leaving, unless anyone has problems with that. That's 9 PM for most Europeans and noon for Pacific time.

Alright, so, let's talk practice run. I was thinking of having a practice run tomorrow to get a feel for leveling with a team of 8 people and all that stuff. The exact time is kind of hard to decide on since I'm in Europe. I really don't want to be playing any later than 2 AM my time, which is 8 PM EST. As a rough estimate I'm thinking it'll take us two to three hours to get through normal difficulty, so as far as I'm concerned 5 PM EST is the latest possible start time. 3 or 4 PM EST might be a better choice seeing as most people will probably have dinner around 6-7 PM. Give your thoughts on the starting time please, and tell me if you want to participate (Also what kind of character you'll be using). There's unfortunately only room for 8 people, so get there as soon as possible if you want to be sure of a spot in the party. Participants so far: Tensei-San (Lightning Sorceress) Nekofrog (Ice Sorceress) Gario (Skeleton Necromancer/ Wind Druid) relyanCe (Javazon) BardicKnowledge (Holy Shock Auradin?) TehDonut (MF/Shout Barb) Specifics: We'll meet up in the OCR chat channel on battle.net (US EAST LADDER) at the appointed time, with +/- 5 minutes leeway (You can join the channel by entering the chat and typing "/join ocr"). Be sure you make the same character you're actually planning to use after the ladder reset. After that we'll create a private game and play through all of Normal difficulty (all 5 acts) in one sitting, without getting boosted by higher level characters. Provided there are no special delays, I estimate this will take 3 hours at most, so make sure you have the time. If you're new or haven't played for the last few years, I suggest you google around a bit for resources on how to build your character. Even though you won't probably be using this 'practice' character for much longer, it never hurts getting stuff right the first time and it'd take a lot of valuable time for the veteran players to explain you how to repair your equipment and all that. Try to build your character up in the same fashion as you would a 'real' character. I've been thinking we should do some practice runs before the reset (i.e. run through the game with 8 people without getting help from high level chars) so we can get a feel for the fastest leveling spots. I know it's generally something like this: 1-14 Tristram Runs 14-20 Tombruns 20-24 Cow level (which we won't be able to do after the ladder reset so this is still kind of a problem area, maybe Chaos Sanctuary or Traviruns could work) 24-25 Ancients 25-45 Baalruns and so on, but it wouldn't hurt to run through it a few times. The elemental immunities on hell difficulty shouldn't pose that much of a problem since we'll mostly be playing with multiple people at the same time.

I never play beyond 90 because I don't really see a reason to do so. The difference between, say, level 90 and 95 isn't significant enough to put any amount of time in it IMO, and level 1-85 is doable in a few days at most. Edit: Of course if we're going through with the ladder rush, then yeah, grindfest but honestly, I don't think most 'casual' players care about getting past 90 either, so that's why I said there's no grinding at all. Maybe I should rephrase: "You can enjoy the game to it's maximum while barely having to grind" I think Skype would be the way to go since we have quite some people using it already for other purposes (myself included). On a related note, shouldn't we somewhat organize who will play what class? I dunno if it's a good idea to have twenty blizzard sorcs at the same time. In any case, I'm totally calling Light sorc.

Diablo 2 online is an entirely different game (Not necessarily saying better, just very different). Nevertheless, if you enjoyed the single player, it's definitely worth trying it out online

Even though it's almost 10 years old, it's aged really well, and I still have a ton of fun playing it. What's this 1.13 patch? I (re)created this thread because of the impending 1.13 patch, which may or may not change a large portion of the game mechanics again, and because I've heard from a lot of people that they might pick up the game again when the ladder resets. Even though there's no information on the patch content itself, I think that it'll mostly be aimed at balancing the classes out a bit more, mostly by nerfing the overpowered cookie cutter builds (Javazon and Hammerdin come to mind). I hope we can expect some nice new runewords as well and let's hope they finally remove the +1 to teleport from Enigma. What's this Diablo 2 thing you're talking about? For those of you who haven't ever heard of Diablo 2 (which won't be a lot), I can only heartily recommend it: It's an incredibly deep and engaging RPG with literally almost no form of grinding at all. One important feature is that about 95% of the locations are randomly generated, which understandably adds a shitload of replay value. You can buy CD keys at around 4-10$ (and just download the ISOs from blizzard's site), with no further monthly fees, so overall there's little reason not to get it now. You can take the minimum specs with a grain of salt, the games are incredibly scalable either way. TF 2 ran well enough on medium settings on a 1.7 Ghz, 512 mb ram laptop with an ATI Radeon x300 for me. HL2 and Portal ran comfortably on high settings.

I like how people trivialize the Tomb Raider series while forgetting that the original pretty much redefined and reinnovated the entire action/adventure genre on PC and can IMO be considered as much of a milestone for PC gaming as, say, Doom or System Shock. Also the last few games (from Legend onwards) have been very good. That said, I'd love to see what kind of games this unholy union will spawn, if nothing else, it'll be interesting.
