World of Warcraft Guild for the Arrangement Community
Tensei replied to starla's topic in General Discussion
After messing around with a trial account for a bit, I'm thinking about picking up the full version of WoW and joining you guys, provided that the guild is still somewhat active. Do I need to buy both the game and the two expansions at once? And what about the recruit-a-friend system? -
RE 4 is Resident Evil taken a logical step further. It's more over the top, it has a more efficient control scheme, and it has some brilliant additions (context buttons, the cutscene reflex button thingy) which make it a lot smoother. Let's be fair here, the main reason you never really felt 'in control' in the original game was because you were confined to narrow, pre-rendered spaces, had to work with clumsy tank-style controls, and camera angles which worked in favor of the enemies. This is not good gameplay. I don't go and think "OH THIS GAME IS SO CHALLENGING, I LOVE IT" when I walk straight into a zombie I couldn't see because of the camera angle, while my character should realistically have been able to see it coming. As for the storyline..have you even seen the intro to the original RE? (Not REmake). RE4 is for me actually a STEP UP in terms of suspension of disbelief because the voice acting and dialogue is actually somewhat believable compared to the original. In summary: RE was flawed, RE4 improved on the formula substantially. Any argument in favor of the original is nothing but nostalgia, because taken at face value the original is just pretty BAD.

Horror? Resident Evil series? Does not compute. I'm not going to shit my pants at a game where people use words like "Jill-Sandwich", and the plot was always incredibly batshit insane and campy. There were a few moments of shock in the original (dogs jumping in through the windows, first Licker in RE2) but true horror? I dunno, try Silent Hill maybe?

Oh come on now, it was meant as a joke

It Finally Happened: Keanu to Play Spike in Cowboy Bebop
Tensei replied to The Damned's topic in General Discussion
Call me biased, but having grown up watching nothing but subtitled (anglophonic) movies and series, I will ALWAYS pick subtitles over dubbed versions UNLESS I know that the dub is just plain better, which, nine out of ten times, it just isn't. To be honest, I don't understand how for example Germans/Frenchies can stand to watch dubbed american movies. -

That's just so bogus, dude. Totally not righteous. -
http://jp.youtube.com/watch?v=T_iWKblvDgc&feature=related Not outright plagiarism since the guy doesn't explicitly state that it's HIS, but not giving credit kind of rubs me the wrong way. It's not posted yet so I can't really make much of a case for myself besides linking to the wip thread.

To be fair, while I've never been much of a fan of Sonic period, for me, the recent games are definitely up there when it comes to the soundtrack. I mean, tracks like "In his world" and "Live and Learn" are at near-Gurren Lagann levels of epicness, in stark contrast to relatively forgettable chiptuney stuff from the 2d games (I guess one has to grow up listening to that stuff to appreciate it) Nevertheless, this is a very interesting read, kind of reminds me of the blogs of (ex-)EA employees.

Happy new year from my GMT +1 country! Britfags will be up in about 20 minutes :]

I hope you see the irony in even mentioning 'real life social situations' when you play TFC.

OCR TF2: New Server forthcoming - new server IPs and other stuff

I think I was the one who started playing music. I remember showing brushfire how to use HLDJ, I don't remember atmuh ever playing music. Ergo, atmuh started doing it after brushfire. -
There's a disturbing amount of people mistaking campy (so bad it's good) for genuine bad. Come on, Spaceballs and Super Mario Brothers? What's next, Evil Dead? If you want TRULY horrible, try something like From Justin to Kelly.

Recommendations for Anime from 1985-1992?
Tensei replied to Meteo Xavier's topic in General Discussion
Well to be honest episode 4 is arguably the worst episode and can basically be skipped. It's all kind of meh up until episode 8-9ish after which it just becomes an ever-increasing avalanche of awesome. -

You have no idea...absolutely no idea... Do yourself a favor and watch it in its entirety. -
Actually Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 64 were both a lot better than Super Mario 3, so your argument falls a bit flat there.
-
im sorry, in this day and age i cant play games that look like total shit.

I wish people would actually learn the proper definition of irony and not throw it around like they're Alanis Morisette or something.

Yes, the scout most definitely will not be buffed vs Sentryguns, it would be plain stupid (similar to giving spies a flame-resistant suit). What I hope to see is a scout that doesn't have to depend on hit an run tactics as much in a chokepoint-filled map like dustbowl and gold rush (the developer have expressed similar intents), so a replacement for the scattergun that is effective at dealing consistent damage on mid/close range, rather than dealing big chunks of damage at once, would be great. Maybe an assault rifle of sorts? The point is this would make the pistol kind of useless, except for when you run out of ammo. The replacement could be something along the lines of a health-bar detector, which, when you think about it, is quite more useful than it may seem, allowing you to pick out the weakened targets of the enemy team, and generally being quite useful for fulfilling the scout role. As for the bat? I don't know, maybe one that does half damage normally, but auto-crits when you're carrying the flag/capturing a CP? -
Oh great, just what we always needed, some guy who feels it's necessary to defend us from the big bad judges. Listen, maybe we LIKE getting called awful on a regular basis, you should learn to respect that.
