OCR TF2: New Server forthcoming - new server IPs and other stuff
Tensei replied to Bahamut's topic in General Discussion
Apparently our server isnt the only one that has problems with the arena maps (frequent crashing, all kinds of errors), so I hope Valve can quickly patch this up because they've made quite a mess of it as far as I can tell :/ On the bright side, there shouldn't be anything wrong with cp_steel and pl_badwater. -
Yea because Rare has released nothing but awesome games since microsoft bought them, right?
-
I'll say it again, if I were you i'd at least change the hi-hat pattern at some parts, maybe even switch it up with a ride/crash cymbal. For example I think the part at 1:28 would sound much heavier if it had a crash playing every half note instead of the incessant hi-hat pattern. 1:49 would benefit greatly from a quarter note open hi-hat pattern too IMO. Anyway, good luck with it.

Bahamut, is there any chance you could add this map to the server, if only temporarily? Me and a few other people would love to test it out since it looks like it can be amazing (if a bit gimmicky) fun but no other server runs it. It doesn't even have to be in the rotation, it's just for testing purposes when there's barely any people on the server (and we usually mess around during those hours anyway) -
You forgot about Twilight Princess. And by that I mean wii homebrew stuff.

Turbine is often ruined by turtling engineers, but overall I think it's still a fun map, especially with the huge slaughterfests that happen in the big central room. -
Yeah I really liked the Fusion arc of DBZ, definitely one of my favorites, mainly because it introduced Gotenks. After that the rest of the Majin Buu fights dragged on a bit too long for my taste, but the fusion saga is definitely up there. :]

The Killer Gloves of Boxing The unlockable for the Heaviest pugilists out there is the K.G.B. Any time a Heavy kills an enemy with the K.G.B he receives five seconds of guaranteed critical hits. This crit-boost can be used to punch and kill further enemies, extending the boost time. Alternatively, the Heavy can switch to another weapon and use the boost to take out an enemy at range. The Heavy's slow movement speed, and the K.G.B's slower swing speed, make it a risky prospect. also lol -

This is a very likable and high energy arrangement (of course, it's TMNT, what'd you expect ). Some transitions are a bit off but nothing dealbreaking. The guitars are definitely passable but the fakey bass ticks me off a lot. It's mixed way too softly and it relies too much on just repeating the root note. Make the bass more audible and more interesting, the mix sounds quite empty without it. Drums are alright but underprocessed for the kind of music you're going for. Needs to be way punchier and less roomy overall. Specifically the snare needs more thwack/compression (and possibly some reverb if you're going for the huge snare sound.) The machine gun snare rolls at the end just sound outright painful, don't forget to edit velocities. Drum Sequencing is pretty good overall. Overall this is pretty close, just needs some polish on certain instruments, but it probably won't take too much effort to bring this up to par. :] Try to listen to some similar mixes (the latest Sixto/Zircon collab would make a great candidate) to get a feel for how drums should sit in a mix like this. -
Screenshot LPs will always reign supreme over Video LPs. (Freelance Astronauts are excepted from this rule)

anyone know of good orchestral or symphony remixes?

Hahah oh wow, you people. Seriously, who here would have linked to DS's stuff if he hadn't done so himself? It's perfectly normal to promote your own music, and I think anyone would be flattered if someone would offer to write an essay to their music. Besides, didn't the smiley imply it wasn't a totally serious post? I mean, I brag tongue-in-cheek about my barely existant musical skills all the time. You should all stop acting like 13-year old girls on their period, especially about trivial stuff like this. :/ -

This looks awesome, I'm all for more TC maps, it's such an underappreciated gametype. -

I laugh at you because you took the time to write that as a response to a sarcastic post :] Edit: Though I do like how the points you summed up for prog rock, maybe with the exception of 'talented musicians', really aren't positive at all, skill at instrument =/= good music.

ya i dunno lol i enjoy them but i wouldnt call myself emo so i figured other people might like them too

From First To Last - Ride The Wings Of Pestilence The Fall of Troy - Wacko Jacko Steals the Elephant Man's Bones I'm probably way off-base calling those screamo though :]
-
Yeah I didn't even really know where I was going with that post, so whatever. I do think it's pretty disturbing news about Russia banning an entire musical genre/youth movement, even if it's LAWL EMO. It wouldn't be exaggerated to ask how long it will take for the Russian government to start banning anyone who disagrees with them, and we'll be up in another cold war before you know it. Not really a laughing matter IMO. That said, I do think there's at least SOME decent screamo-ish music :3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPeKdL2jmPk&feature=related

No we all hate it and it's bannable to mention it. Yeah but seriously, it's not as good as DKC 2 but still a very nice game (except the fucking bonus rooms) which had some amazing graphics back in the day.

Ahaha, yes way to go, snob. Progressive rock is possibly the most pretentious dickwaving musical genre out there, and it sounds great until you realise that the majority of bands who call themselves 'prog' only put in the crrraazy time signatures etc. to be able to call themselves 'prog'. This is the same kind of wankery, or possibly even a worse kind wankery than dragonforce does. It's not "Wow look at how fast I can play, I'm so good" but it's "Wow look at me composing a 20 minute song with 300 different time signatures and key modulations, I'm so good" Everyone know screamo is the only way to go.

Yes, we can't have that when it's melee only. It's absolutely necessary that the enemy team won't hear we're planning to punch their lights out. -
oh yeah dragonforce is so original no other metal band ever thought of playing upbeat music and its not like theres an entire genre called power metal or anything all other metalbands are just pansies in black clothing your totally spot on there Noooo, but seriously, you're generalizing a bit here. There's tons of bands playing optimistic, upbeat metal like you seem to enjoy from Dragonforce. While DF just puts a twist on it by doing it at a generally higher tempo and adding all kinds of crazy game sfx (Which, don't get me wrong, is cool imo), it's a bit of an overstatement to say they're the only metal band to 'play all happy stuff and shit' And it's a sad fact that as a band they're really not that good, especially live. What I've seen from them live was mediocre at best, and most of their songs, while awesome, sound very much the same.
