  1. I hated that game with a passion - it embodies just about everything I hated about RPGs.
  2. Trick Room isn't hard to set up - also, the odds are ~30% that you'll at least get a flinch or another status effect (freeze, burn, paralyze), which isn't horrible (especially compared to the punchs' 10% with no extra side effect), and it's 95% accuracy is pretty much reliable. Dragonite isn't regarded as much of a pain at all - Salamence is generally more trouble than Dragonite for its higher speed with same physical attack.
  3. The Fang moves are quite better than the Punch moves, and Stone Edge is an incredible advantage against many pokemon, including fliers like Dragonite, with STAB to boot, and Earthquake is very good as well. Avalanche destroys the dragons, or if you prefer you could just use Ice Fang. Finally, with Trick Room, Tyranitar can be just about unstoppable.
  4. I doubt we'd be playing Halo 3 there...we'll be having a Wii, and djp has a 360. I'm likely going to be taking the Chinatown bus from Manhattan down to Baltimore, or Amtrak, depending on if my other friend comes. Regardless, I'd be going with my friend in Baltimore to DC, so you're welcome to come with us if you like.
  5. Oh...well, that would need to be sorted out by Dave then probably. I'm guessing that Andy & Jill will want to stay in the same seating group though, so it'll probably be worked out somehow.
  6. Dave can probably bring shirts for purchase. It's already listed on the first page who paid for the first 25 tickets, so I'll just edit that for the next set of tickets to be purchased.
  7. No pyramid scams allowed in threads - you can put a link in your sig, but DO NOT post a thread on one here.
  8. Well, I'm not sure when do you want to end your trip, but on June 29th & June 30th, a lot of us will be going to the Video Games Live concerts in Washington, D. C., so if you happen to be done around then, you guys can chill with the rest of us OCRers at the very least. Edit: Oh, Washington State and not Washington, D. C., whoops
  9. That doesn't explain why Tyranitar is generally considered more of a pain than the dragons. From what it looks like, Tyranitar's moveset with its stats are huge, with it being able to learn Fire Fang, Ice Fang, Thunder Fang, Earthquake, Crunch, Dragon Dance, Aerial Ace (which is 2x effective vs fighting), Avalanche, Brick Break, Pursuit, and Stone Edge. Sure, fighting will be 4x effective, but if there's a trick room used beforehand, a fighting type would be no good because Tyranitar can OHKO it and be faster, and even pokemon like Dragonite would fall pretty quickly to it (if not OHKO).
  10. The difference in Attack is trivial. Also, Tyranitar isn't as easily killed - ice is 4x effective on Dragonite, compared to 2x effective on Tyranitar, so whereas one ice attack may kill Dragonite, it likely won't kill Tyranitar. In general it's just harder to beat a Tyranitar than the others, and a lot of people put moves on all their pokemon to handle Tyranitar because of this, while none of those others are as much of a problem.
  11. So, I'm going to be visiting Chicago for the whole day next Tuesday, May 22. Anyone got any great suggestions for places to visit?
  12. Not really - Tyranitar is above those, because at the cost of speed, it has more hp, more damage dealing, and more damage taking from physical & special. The others generally have more into speed, except Dragonite, but Dragonite can be killed quite easily with a STAB ice attack, and its special attack isn't all that great.
  13. This is going to be one of the largest exclusively OCR meetups ever .
  14. Tyranitar has godly stats for all but speed, making it a quite lethal pokemon, especially when combined with Trick Room. There's no question about why Tyranitar is banned.
  15. Oh so this jdgfgt is older than me only by 20 days.
  16. Just moved the thread to the appropriate forum...sorry, don't know the answer to your problem .
  17. I think Andy still doesn't know what date he prefers for a Philly meetup. I'm up for whatever, but I'd like to do more than just visit one thing for most of the day. Also, I'd probably need someone to pick me up from Chinatown in Philly if there is a meetup.
  18. So as of now, Otakon is looking pretty expensive for me, factoring in hotel costs, cost of travel, and food. I'm probably going to have to pass unless someone can come up with an awesome housing solution.
  19. Not even by my tastes - some elements of various games mentioned fall far short to many gamers I've encountered. The simplest example of what I've questioned is the Metroid Prime games, most notably 2. I haven't encountered a person who has finished the second game, and even the first game was a toil for some to finish. When you have situations like that not being isolated in any capacity, clearly something is up. In fact, the main reason I didn't dispute or discuss more games is because of this exact reason, that someone would choose to mudsling over giving legitimate points as to why so-and-so game is a must-play for people even not typically interested in the style or genre. If someone can't defend a choice adequately, then it wasn't deserving of such an honor in the first place.
  20. But some people in this thread have shown questionable choices for games, and it should be up to them to enlighten others exactly why each game they chose should be considered a must-play, even for those disinclined towards it.
  21. Yeah, let's get some actual discussion going on here instead of stupidly listing stuff. If this remains a list thread, then I'll have to delete it.
