  1. Left you guys some feedback on the forums. FYI
  2. Your best bet would probably to get Audacity, load up the songs (assuming you have them in mp3, wav, or other compatible format), and manually chopping/cutting and pasting the song until you have a smooth loop.
  3. True on the pattern blocks, but Gol's indicated they're going to go away completely some time in the future. I haven't messed with things enough in FL 10 to talk definitively, but I have yet to find anything that adequately replaces the functionality of having the patterns visible on the left side of the playlist. And yes, I briefly checked out the Picker. It literally fills the whole screen with stuff to select from. No thanks
  4. For future reference, please provide a link to the source when using Mod Review. Thanks Arrangement wise, this was very conservative for a majority of the mix. I do here where you've done some liberties on soloing and changeups, but I think you could also bring some personalization to the more coverish sections. Transition at :46 to the piano felt very awkward - like you just crossfaded two different takes on bloody tears together. On the production side, this mix suffers from a lot of crowding and excessive... noise I guess. It's mixed pretty loud and there are a lot of competing parts interfering with each other. Many of the sounds felt pretty low quality - the piano, for example, had a very thin sound. The synth leads were also bland and mixed very loudly into the song. I'd try replacing them with some more interesting/nuanced synths and pull back on the volume. Drum writing was very repetative for much of the mix and frequently gets drowned out by everything else. The samples sounded pretty lofi for the drums in general, especially considering it appears you're going for an acoustic kit. It sounds like you're pretty new at this, so I hope this crit doesn't come off as too negative or overwhelming. Personally, I'd leave this mix alone and start some new things. Don't focus too much on a single song at this point, instead, try lots of new songs and ideas. Go to the competitions board and try your hand at the PRC and other weekly competitions to get yourself trying new things and new songs quickly. Once you get a solid amount of experience under your belt, working on mixes for OCR becomes a lot easier. Good luck to you.
  5. Sega needs to pull a valve and hire bomberlink. Make it official.
  6. I'm pretty sure you have to activate it once downloaded, so I don't think that'd be an option - not that I was considering it. Gotta keep it on the up and up
  7. For future reference, please provide a link to the original track when using Mod Review. Thanks At first glance, I'd say this is too conservative for ocr standards. You've basically kept the song structure, melodies, & feel the same as the original - just with different sounds. It would need a lot more personalization to be above the arrangement bar. I was admittedly pretty thrown off at first by the dissonance. I listened to your mix before listening to the source, though, and I now see where it comes from. Still, though it may have worked in the original, I don't feel like it's working for a dance mix like you've got here. On the production side, you've got some good energy here with the beat and bass synth going. There's a lot of clutter here with the various parts. I'd look into cutting down on reverb. Also, a lot of synths are fighting for the same sonic space - there's just too much "stuff" going on with similar textures. Try to balance out parts a bit more so backing parts odn't occupy so much space, the leads are able to shine out, while the beat still has the punch to drive the mix. One extra note, the sound effect on two of the transitions seemed way too loud and didn't really feel like it served it's purpose as a bridge between the parts (assuming that's what you were going for). Overall, you've got some nice synths, and a nice base with your underlying drums & bass, but more work is needed on personalization/writing, mixing & balance.
  8. Also, go to your Browser and look at Current Project > Patterns > Initialized Controls and see if there's anything in there for panning. If not, I'd start going through whatever patterns you have at the very beginning of the song to see if any of them have automation data on the panning value.
  9. Np at all dude. Keep making awesome music :)

  10. Hey man, welcome to OCR. I'd be willing to take up this offer. I will send you a PM with some reference material.
  11. I think he's referring to the limit on the amount of music you can upload to soundcloud before you need a premium account. Free accounts only get 120 minutes of uploaded music.
  12. I haven't used it, but I think File>Export>Loop Package will do something like this.
  13. As he mentions here, DS copied some threads from offtop to make it appear that there were multiple project leaders creating the threads. Relax, it was just an April Fools joke.
  14. Awesome. Been waiting for this . No more bouncing between regular and beta to use some of the new stuff for project.
  15. Thanks dude! I really appreciate this coming from a mixer as prolific as yourself. I'm really enjoying your track as well . Awesome.
  16. Alright, some finishing touches tonight and it's done: http://soundcloud.com/nutritiousmusic/nutritious-rcr-main-theme Tough source to remix, but lots of fun. Good luck guys.
  17. Bummer. I hadn't bothered with it after the initial download. I'll revert the original post back to version 2.
  18. Currently working on my own mix for this. Gonna be a race against time, but I should be able to close it out in time . Yes, but there are plenty of MIDI artists out there doing the work for you* Disclaimer: I in no way advocating MIDI rips for remixing
  19. This is a fantastic deal guys. I've been using TRacks 2 for some time now and have been very pleased with it.
  20. Either set the streching method to "resample" or move the Time knob all the way down to 0. Both ways will disable audio stretching. Edit: With this in mind, you'd want record it with the song tempo increasing as you did initially.
  21. Anyone with access, please head over to the project forums to provide some WIP feedback. Edit: Also, if you need forum access (and are a remixer, obviously ), please PM me your email address.
  22. I said plenty of click without having the thump. Didn't mean for you to cut it down
  23. First off, fantastic arrangement dude. Huge props for that. Loving the varied use of instruments and counterplay you've got going here. Gonna get more picky on the production side now. -I'll echo Will that it's a bit heavy in the mids. Seems very apparent when certain instruments come (brass comes to mind first) -Watch your volume levels in the heavier areas. Some of the big hits sound like they're causing distortion. For example, the when the thunderbolt hits with the bass drum towards the beginning. It happens several times later when there's some big percussion hitting at the same time as other elements (see 2/3rds in with the big brass hits with percussion). -The big bass drum hits at the start sound a bit too dry for the soundscape. -The kit was a bit repetative at the start with a super simple snare 2 4 kick 1 3 rhythm, but it gets better later. -In general, the choirs felt slightly too loud. It's ok at the beginning, but it becomes apparent near the end when the soundscape becomes more cramped. -Piano also could stand to either come down in volume a bit or have some freqs cut. You can hear how much room it's taking up about a third of the way through with the left hand chords. -Loved the 1 up easter egg Overall, just needs a little polish dude. Well done.
  24. Awesome, thanks for the link, dude. Just picked up z3ta+, garritan pocket orchestra, sfz pro, & Square I for $25
