OCR01892 - Final Fantasy IV "Éminence Grise"
Nutritious replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
Great arrangement of a very challenging source. I've heard several versions of this song as it was developing and it really has come a long way. Nice simple downtempo beats that still manage to stay interesting throughout. The most important thing here, I think, was establishing the right mood and I think OA nailed it. Great foreshadowing for the ending of the album with the tense/somewhat creepy feel to it. I really love the legato string run (shocking, huh?) that comes in around 1:14 that gives the piece some additional movement & diversity. I think DA was a great choice for vocals as her singing style seems to lend itself well to this genre. Great job guys. -
Can you post to youtube afterwards?

Well, what IS it set to currently? You pretty much have to have Asio4All set as your Input/Output device if you want to record live with decent latency.

Syncing to Transposing Slider... Or something.
Nutritious replied to PROTO·DOME's topic in Music Composition & Production
Are you talking about the master pitch slider on the top left, or the pitch slider in a single channel? For pitch bend range on a channel, it probably depends on the VST. Generally, however, there should be a setting to control the pitch bend range within the VST. Have you looked for that? I'm assuming you've done this, but have you checked the range on the "Plugin" tab of the channel window for the VST? -
Interesting project you're undertaking. Looking over your site, though, IMO you're really early in the process to be seeking out a musician/sound designer. Generally, once a project is pretty far along (and definitely on track for completion), you can look to bring aboard said person for that type of work. Good luck to you, though.

Does anyone know of a good VBR compression program?
Nutritious replied to Gario's topic in Music Composition & Production
The newest beta version of Audacity (1.3.7) technically supports VBR, but I haven't been very impressed by it yet. Even if you set the Variable speed as "Fast" it doesn't seem to vary bit rate very quickly at all and doesn't have a very wide range of rates it will hit throughout the render. This is one of the only things has kept me using my old version of Sound Forge still. You can try the Audacity beta to see if it works for you, though. -
OCR TF2: New Server forthcoming - new server IPs and other stuff
Nutritious replied to Bahamut's topic in General Discussion
My bad with the stickies, guys. I don't often play on the server (kind've off and on again player overall), so I wasn't familiar with the rules. -
Hey Halc, I've done some similar stuff to what you've linked to for a few years now on the side. Don't know all the terms exactly, but probably would include popping, locking, liquiding(?), floating/gliding/whatever, and tutting. Never really did anything with it, but it's a blast just to do for fun.

Sounds exactly like what happened to me quite a while back. Mine turned out to be a bad card (bad ram on the card, probably). If you want, you could get a program to underclock the video card settings, and then run artifact tests to see if they stop. This allowed me to use the card for quite a while longer without artifacts until I could get around to replacing it. If you are going to do it, I'd recommend lowering the clock by small increments, and then running artifact tests each time to see when they stop.

GI Joe boss theme is pretty catchy. I've started a mix of it.

Free FL Orchestral Template v2.0 Released!
Nutritious replied to Nutritious's topic in Music Composition & Production
Bumping this thread since it's really getting old and I'd hate for it to vanish. This is the same template I used to create the song Into the Darkness on the FF4 project. So check that song out if you want to hear its potential. -

I'm sure it's the same art. For the icons, I'm guessing the first one is OA, though I don't know the significance of the others. -
auto audio stretch nightmare
Nutritious replied to Lunahorum's topic in Music Composition & Production
Yeah, it's slightly complicated though. Ok, so you have specific measures where your song changes tempo. Start at the first tempo change in the song. Go to the playlist and click on the measure BEFORE the tempo changes, so the current tempo showing at the top is the first tempo in the project. Take the razor tool and slice right on the line exactly where the tempo changes (you may have to zoom in, depending on how precise your tempo change is). Now, if you start playback in the SECOND tempo, it should be lined up properly. Continue this process for each tempo change in the song and it should keep the vocal track in sync. -

Mobo issue (probably need new Mobo+CPU)
Nutritious replied to Skrypnyk's topic in General Discussion
It's a bummer I didn't see this thread earlier, cause I was going to suggest video card issues. I had a similar problem where I was getting a weird beep sequence with a blank screen and it turned out to be bad ram on the video card (or just faulty in general). Getting a new card solved the issue. Might want to also google the boot beep codes for your BIOS to find out what the specific sequence means.
