  1. Make sure you don't have any other music playing programs open when you start FL with ASIO (like winamp, windows media player, anything that plays sounds). Also, you'll need to make sure all of your MIDI output ports are turned off, cause ASIO won't start with MIDI channels enabled (in Options > MIDI settings). Again, this is all intentional to increase performance as much as possible by bypassing all Windows processing.
  2. Try it again both ways and keep an eye on your CPU usage meter. ASIO uses a lot less processing power because it bypasses the extra mixing done by Windows. I'm guessing you're maxing out your CPU when previewing the song on Primary driver. Of course, if the output mp3 is actually popping/clipping, it's another matter entirely.
  3. I take it you're using ASIO drivers while in FL? What is your current buffer setting? You can also change the mixer interpolation to Linear to free up some processing power while previewing (options > audio settings).
  4. That's odd that you're getting crackling/popping. Personally, I used FL Studio with my laptop's integrated sound card for a couple years with no issues. Are you planning on doing a lot of recording or interfacing with other hardware? Or just want it for the sound properties itself? I'm not sure it would be worth it for just the latter unless you were having major problems.
  5. Abadoss is the current resident ff4 string quartet arranger around these parts. Might want to toss him a PM and see if you guys can work something out.
  6. Late developments on a bonus track on project forums. Check it.
  7. Short Answer: You'd need explicit written permission from Nintendo (or copyright owner) to create a derivative work from their material and sell it commercially. Not likely to happen. Long Answer: It depends on the band on how they handle the copyrights (and I don't know for those specific examples, though Zircon might). The only truly legal way to go about something like this is if you created a direct cover of a song and went through a licensing agency like Harry Fox to pay the original artist a licensing fee to utilize their material. Sadly, I don't think most game cover bands do this, so technically it's not kosher. Now, as said above, you're talking about rearranging material and selling it/charging for attendance in a commercial venue. Technically, this isn't possible unless you have permission from the original artist to create a derivative version of their material. The licensing method above only applies for covers, not rearrangements. Now, if you're still set on the idea and want to make your best effort to do it properly, I guess you could call your material "covers" of the original and pay licensing fees to the copyright holder.
  8. Wait, didn't that project just come out last year? Guess it wasn't THAT old
  9. Make sure you have the pattern with the midi in it selected before you go to Edit Events on the tempo box.
  10. For 3rd party plugins, you could just automate the fader on the mixer for that track. Or, if you want to change it note by note, you could try changing the lower window in the piano roll to channel volume and adjust the levels of each note manually (haven't tested this second one).
  11. I'd say first you need to know the format that is compatible with the game they are creating (i.e. mp3, ogg, etc) as well as how much space you have to work with (to determine bitrate). The programmers should be able to provide this information to you. Other considerations would be the style of music they're looking for (examples of similar styles are helpful) as well as the types of sound effects needed. Again, any examples of similar styles would help here.
  12. I took a listen to this last night and was pleasantly surprised at the creativity and polish here. Good luck with the judging.
  13. Try PM'ing Escariot. I think they disabled new membership registration because of all the spambots we were getting.
  14. I'm a C. Took saxophone lessons & played in high school/college.
  15. I recommend this forum for help: http://www.techsupportforum.com/security-center/virus-trojan-spyware-help/ Be sure to read the top sticky before starting.
  16. Seems pretty close to me ------------------------------ Anyway, needing some input on this Haunted House track. It finished? Needing a name too (looking at you, Fratto)
  17. I'd assume that would be more the panning decisions of the mixer rather than joint vs. true stereo. Personally, I rarely pan an instrument 100% to one side.
  18. Hah, spy update after all: http://www.teamfortress.com/spyupdate/
  19. I just recently started playing on the OCR server a couple weeks ago, but I'd like a patch
  20. You may also need a codec to decode the video before you can edit it (like divx). Might want to see if you can figure out what was used to encode the original avi.
  21. Samples are always provided in wav format (at least in the contests I've entered). They do link to ACID Xpress on all contests, which makes sense if you're trying to get more exposure for your DAW. It's not required to enter contests, though.
