  1. Must resist urge to join.... Maybe when this one's further along and things settle down with other projects
  2. I remember seeing your demo reel sometime back when you originally posted. Good job and good luck.
  3. Geez, voting is not going to be easy for this one.
  4. Stupid thing, render faster!!! EDIT: Wow, made it with one minute left. Sheesh.
  5. Been tryin to get this VST since I read the thread earlier last month, but the download from web.archive.org seems to be a bad zip file. Anyone around here happen to have the Tridirt VST and wouldn't mind sending it to me?
  6. Wow, that was seriously uncalled for. Who cares if they're MIDI rips (I haven't listened to them personally), or if they're terrible. That doesn't justify these types of comments.
  7. If you could become a collaborator by giving constructive criticism, this would be the ultimate
  8. Srsly, only 210 pages to read through, no excuse.
  9. Big update today on my track. Very very close to being done, just needs some tweaks. Check it out.
  10. If you've got a soundfont player, look for Roland Nice Piano soundfont. Different timbres for various velocities with a really nice soft tone to it on the lower ones.
  11. skydrive.live.com Seriously. Though it's microsoft, lots of space, can hold big files & lets users browse the folders you set as public. And, best part, free.
  12. Yeah, I remember this video from a LONG time ago. "This is rock and roll" Good times
  13. Thanks for the comments, guys! I'm pretty excited to finally get my first mix posted. I've got something like 6 mixes currently waiting to be posted (yes, Avaris, mostly project mixes ), so there's a lot more to come. As for the concerns on the saxophone, listening now I can definitely hear where that's coming from. I suppose it's an inherent risk in trying to mix a full orchestra with a live lead instrument, though I'm sure I could've executed it better. New stuff is on it's way
  14. The previous sub of this song was rejected (for very good reasons). I've gone ahead and revisited this one to try and address the issues there, as well as additional stuff: Newest Version: http://nutritiousmultimedia.googlepages.com/CaveStory-Showdown.mp3 Decision: http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=17146 -Completely reworked drums: samples and writing -Lots of EQing, cut out mud, levels adjustment -Toned down compression -Reworked orchestra reverb -Worked on "alternate" guitar tone Should be ready, I believe, but any crits are welcome.
  15. Master of Orion II (probably 1 too if I could ever find the diskettes again) -Different game every time -Very customizable game options, difficulty, galaxy, starting race -Lots of different strategies you can try for or invent -etc etc It's one of those games I pull out every so often to play for a little while, then put it back away for about 6 months to a year.
  16. I think he was refering to this statement, actually.
  17. To be fair, it seems I originally caught some of the lower quality mixes, which is why I was commenting on the problems with them. Comparing them with the songs referenced above, I can definitely hear what you mean by a big quality/skill jump. EDIT: Noone expects the OverClocked Inquisition!
  18. I guess I'd have to take issue with these points. It doesn't sound like he has a "band", just that he can play guitar and maybe bass (admittedly, I didn't listen to everything, though). There's a lot you can do to simulate a full band if you want without actually needing one. Second, I would hardly call him a "Master" at these techniques. Several of the clips had some very weak/fake sounding instrumentation, poor mixing, and other issues.
  19. The hardware needed depends on what you're trying to do. Do you play a live instrument or keyboard? Do you sing and need to record vocals? If not, there's probably no real need at this point for additional hardware besides your computer (except maybe a decent pair of monitoring headphones).
  20. I know sonik synth 2 has already been mentioned, but I received this email a few days ago about IK's current summer deals: (by the way, how are you liking sonik synth? Would you consider it a good purchase?) Just thought I'd share.
