Well, it's possible that the power supply isn't providing enough for that card. Video cards use more power after you install the drivers since it's utiziling more features. If you're underpowered on the bootup, I'd imagine it could cause a BSOD. Anyway, I've always had good luck with video card support on this site though, so you might want to try there to see if they can help you more.

Hmm, sounds really strange. Any chance you could try the card out in a different computer? Have you tried different versions of ATI's drivers? Also, you can also try Omega drivers (http://www.omegadrivers.net/) which are modified ATI drivers to give more features/bug fixes/optimizations. I've had some luck with them in the past. When reinstalling drivers, I'd recommend using the ATI removal tool (after uninstalling previous ATI drivers) to make sure you remove all of the ATI files that get left behind during the normal uninstall. Can't find a link to it right now, unfortunately, but I think ATI hosts it on their site. EDIT: By the way, what's your power supply?

Found this pretty cool test you can take to determine your ability to perceive differences in tone and rhythm: http://www.delosis.com/listening/ It's part of a study by the University of Newcastle upon Tyne to figure out how many people of the general population have amusia (tone deafness). I would think it would have a big impact on someone's ability to perceive music for remixing as well. Anyway, they say it takes about 8 minutes for each of the two tests. I just finished taking them and scored 29 out of 30 on both of them. It's a little tiring though, because you have to stay focused throughout. So, how'd you guys do?

Anyone mentioned Jurassic Park yet? Somewhat off topic, but if you're ever in Orlando, FL, head to Universal Studios Isle of Adventure. Throughout the park, they play some of the best epic/recognizeable soundtrack scores while walking around the park or even inside some rides. It's a very cool experience. For exaple, the above theme in the Jurassic Park area. Also, the one that stuck out to me the most but is original to the ride (I think) was the theme song playing while you're walking through Poseidon's Fury.

Is it the DOS or 95 version? I was able to get MW2 DOS version to run with DOSBOX and some Hex Editing to get around a bug. I don't have mercs though.

Yeah, it's couple-week-old news, but it looks like Studio FASA is officially gone now. Linky The only reason I found out about this is I pulled out my old Mechwarrior PC games for nostalga recently and was looking around online for mods/patches. I've been a fan of the PC Mechwarrior games since I bought MW:2 from a friend for $5 over a decade ago since he couldn't figure out the game. I bought the games up to Mechwarrior 4 in '02 (not nearly as cool as 2 & 3, Microsoft meddling). Mech 5 was in development but was eventually cancelled, so who knows if there will ever be another game in the series. Not sure if anyone cares so much, but I think it would be pretty cool to have a 5th incarnation of the game - IF it brought the game back to it's roots in storytelling.

Great thread! Shrek the Third as far as the scored tracks for the movie. I was watching in the theater and was really surprised at the good quality epic pieces. A good example is when they get on the ship to sail away towards the beginning (if I remember right). It's probably present in the other two movies to some extent, but I only really paid attention when watching the third one. Enemy of the State had very good/moving tracks on it if I remember right. Uses both orchestral and synthetic elements. Spy Game had some VERY cool tracks. Some orchestral, synth, as well as some oriental and middle-eastern themes. It's Gregson-Williams though, so what do you expect? The Italian Job (2003 remake) had some good music also. I'm not sure what you'd call the style, but very enjoyable. It's another blended soundtrack with strings, jazz elements (stand up bass, brushed drums, and some plucked guitar), and more synthetic stuff. Ocean's 11,12,13 I love the soundtracks for these movies. Very appropriate style for the type of movie. (not the licensed songs, but the songs original for the movie) What do you call this? Lounge Jazz type stuff? Anyway, I think that's good for now.

Man, I love the arrangement ideas you've got going here. This is a song from the game I probably played the most from my childhood. I think OA touched on most of the production work that needs to be done and I can't think of much to add. Just hoping you'll stick with this.

Beautiful arrangement, good changeups throughout and classy use of live instruments, synths, and samples. Great drum programming too (though, what do you expect with that kind of name?). This should've been on my playlist earlier. -
Great arrangement here, though I'm not familiar with the source. I love the blend of orchestral and electronic elements. Nice beat work and great breakdown at 1:48 with the piano. My only (minor) complaints, which have already been voiced, are the production issues with the distortion on the hits - due to the over compression. I think the levels also could've been brought together better to have the more electronic portions brought further forward in the mix (actually, this may also be due to compression issue). I'm listening to this on my mixing headphones, which probably makes this stuff more obvious than usual. Anyway, those small issues aren't enough to keep it off my playlist. Well done.

It's got a long file name. So if you saved it deep into the folder structure of windows, it will cause problems. Try renaming it with "various artists" instead of all the artist names when you download again. -
Sorry guys, I don't normally get online on weekends, so I didn't realize it was back up. Thanks for taking care of it, Rexy. Also, the description is perfect. It's like in RPGs when you try to talk to someone that's sleeping, you get that reply (though unintentional, I'm sure . Oh, and Scandinavian? Err, you're talking about me right? I'm from the central US

This pretty much sums up my experience with FF4 also. It was my first rpg and I was also pretty young. I mean, some of your characters actually "died" in the game. There hasn't been a game since then that's impacted me emotionally near as much as this one.

Or get a Samson CO1U condensor mic that plugs directly into your PC's usb port. It's what I use personally and, while I'm sure you can get better results elsewhere, it has worked great for voice and saxophone recording for me.
