Chrono Trigger: Prophet's Guile out at the Compendium!
The Pezman replied to nightmare975's topic in General Discussion
If you physically attack the golem, he'll copycat it and gain two abilities: Iron Orb, which reduces your HP by half, and a nameless physical attack (but looks like it should be fire) that involves a bunch of light orbs descending in on you. It hits hard. In short, DON'T PHYSICALLY ATTACK IT. I don't recall it not being able to attack if it's switching elements frequently. -
Frequency/Amplitude rides again! ....well... sort of. ::excitement::

Alright, so I've taken my first real steps towards remixing. I have FL Studio. I have a song I want to mix and think I can do justice to. Now I need a MIDI to work with. Since it's a new PC game, the odds of there being a MIDI I can work with (NOT rip) are pretty low (well, there are none on VGMusic anyway). I could link to the song, and perhaps I will, but for now I don't want to because I want to know how one goes about arranging a MIDI generally. Jose the Bronx Rican just arranged the Metal Gear 2 Boss Theme for me (comes in at 0:36 here) and my jaw hasn't put itself back together yet. I imagine it will be quite some time before I can arrange anything like that (ie the rest of the Metal Gear 2 soundtrack) but even for something simple, how do you do it? How can you split up the voices if you don't have a chiptune, for example? Also, I know I'll probably have to change the MIDI significantly once I start remixing it. But I figure if I'm comfortable actually arranging the song, then I can start to do stuff to it.

Hear hear. Kroze and McFly were inseparable during MAG. Except during my panel. But it was okay cuz McFly was there. Just let me know when they're ready.

Make more mixes. How many more mixes? OVER NINE THOUSAND!!!!!!!!! Ummmmmm.... How many of us are on these boards now? Me, him and Robson. Soule, too, if we count him. Anyone else?

That's what I was referring to. They introduced it as "Robo's theme."

Chrono Trigger: Prophet's Guile out at the Compendium!
The Pezman replied to nightmare975's topic in General Discussion
It's an excellent hack. Canon events and everything. I sent my personal congratulations to Zeality. And I loved the nod to Chrono Resurrection. -
I wrote some compositions for theory class that are quite forgettable, though I still remember the themes and hope to use them again someday. My first FL Studio is hopefully coming soon!
-
Haha. Isn't this what you actually did though? I ought to remember... I was on drums.

Oh... shit! I have to go play this now! -
I saw "How has OCR enhanced..." at the communnity page and all sorts of interesting things came to mind. Then I remembered that it was community and that probably none of them were accurate. This is the first message board where people haven't been assholes through and through. I participated in two community-oriented, videogame-related boards before this one: Choco-Boko Booyaka, which no longer exists, and the forums for IcyBrian, the site which used to be the OCR of fanfiction. These forums have been the best by far. Do people talk out of turn, say shit they shouldn't, and rip on others unnecessarily? Of course. But whatever OCR drama exists is infinitely better than the previous two. At the first one nearly everyone was manic depressive, an egoistic ass, or both. At the second one everyone was just an egoistic ass. Here I respect the regulars, mods and judges and don't have to keep justifying to myself why I post on a forum with so many people I dislike. Unlike pretty much everyone else on the boards, my first acquaintance with OCR was actually from meeting some members in person at MAG 5. So when I started posting I already knew the people and that they were good guys. At Icy's we never even knew one another's real names, much less ever met them in person. In addition, the fact that we were at MAGFest showed something else: OCR gets involved. Icyforums runs an annual fanfic contest, but other than that they just shoot the shit. Oh, and the site's creator doesn't update or post. No ambition among any of the members to do anything. At OCR there's all sorts of stuff going on, both with music and other things. I haven't even looked at most of the stuff in the compeititons thread yet. And OCR affiliates itself with other things. The only affiliate I got out of IcyBrian is the Chrono Trigger Novel Project, and Wayne has said that relationship was never very solid anyway. And finally the music. God, the music. I was at a loss for how to play music without friends around. And q-pa introduced me to the idea of computer music. It took me until MAGFest to get around to posting here, but since then I've been oh-so-gradually trying to find things out. When I get enough time and instruction, I hope to be able to reinvent my musical prowess within the context of my primary interest: technology. And what a day that will be.

guitar synth recommendations
The Pezman replied to TheGuitarHero's topic in Music Composition & Production
What about Virtual Guitarist 2 or Amplitube? In fact, I'm pretty sure I remember you use the latter, Zircon. -
This is something I was talking about with a friend the other day. A lot of American hit movies or TV shows are considered good by perhaps the majority of people, but there is always a distinct group which disagrees and explains why it is T3H SUCKZ. With the top quality anime we don't get that. I have never heard someone call Trigun or Cowboy Bebop a bad anime. With stuff like DBZ or Inuyasha, people will enjoy it as light action, but no one will claim it as a masterpiece. But with the heavy stuff, like the ones I mentioned or Akira, I think there is pretty much universal agreement on their quality. Thoughts?

Antigravity remix contest! *WINNERS ANNOUNCED*
The Pezman replied to zircon's topic in General Discussion
Totally wish I had the time/skillz for this. Maybe someday... -
Lost track of the game and this thread for a while. Agreed, Anon is ridiculous and there is no need to talk about it any further. But I do believe we've found our next joke remix project...
-
In all seriousness, I can make it happen. Let me talk to the station directors when I get back to college.

I have a college radio show and frequently play OCRemixes. Do I win yet?

I don't know how to enable an option which records what's actually playing out of your speakers.
