  1. I never found out why that was.
  2. QFT. I've had to eat a lot of words I've said over the years.
  3. Exactly. You need to go overboard to beat those fuckers. I think this was Square trying to cater to the "OMG I'm level 50 by the end of the first disc!" crowd. And a few monsters, fine. But AN ENTIRE COLISEUM'S WORTH?!
  4. You'd better believe there are. It's where Otakon is held. Granted, that particular one is too big for our purposes, but there are bound to be smaller ones. Hell, we might be able to hold it in a university or something.
  5. Yeah, she's difficult, but I had a worse time with Seymour Flux. The bastard will kill your aeons after one attack. The only way I ever managed to beat him is cycle through my aeons one by one, get one attack in, have him knock each of them out, and then just stay alive trying to finish him off. The monsters in the coliseum, even the weakest ones, require a RIDICULOUS amount of leveling up to be able to stand toe to toe with them. In fact, I complained about it here.
  6. I'm sure "Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo" wasn't taken. Why didn't you try that?
  7. Right, but that's invisible to the casual observer. The post time is still very long because it's only handled by one person. This is why I am an advocate of spreading out some of the work... bringing in other competent coders to help Dave out, and maybe let the judges do some writeups.
  8. You don't quite understand. I have a 750 GB external. Right now finding a place to store everything I want is not an issue. However, as you said, external hard drives have their limiting factors, and right now my internal is a mere 100 GB (pretty good for 2005) and I'll want to future proof my machines as much as I can. According to my Comp Architecture teacher (who actually works to manufacture Hard Drive heads), 1 TB is the highest they can achieve with the current means of data storage. With that in mind, I imagine they should be able to put half that into a laptop for a reasonable price.
  9. The zip lines in Costa Rica are one of the coolest experiences I have had in my nearly twenty-one years of existence. It's up there with the three weeks I had a girlfriend.
  10. I want to get a new laptop for after college (I'm a junior now), and I'm open to the possibility of a Mac, but I'm still waiting on things like Hi-Def media support, integrated WiMax on the CPU, DirectX10 compliant video cards & 500 GB of storage. I'd be willing to compromise on two of those four.
  11. Except he was mostly there for marketing reasons and only got a few scenes worth of screen time. My brother told me about the ending (or lack thereof) of the movie... leaving some threads is one thing, but WE NEED SOME RESOLUTION DAMMIT. I'll go see There Will Be Blood instead.
  12. Stuff like that can be a bitch, I'm sure, but to me it doesn't sound like enough of a reason to stay with the same hotel. I think that if this hotel can't work out a date that's reasonably convenient for the majority of people who would like to attend, then we should switch hotels. That's why we plan it now... so we have enough time to do so. For that matter, I don't know why we have it in places like the Hilton. I think people wouldn't mind staying in a two or three star hotel if they understood the money they'd have to spend otherwise.
  13. Remember, we don't actually know whether it's on New Year's Day yet. I feel your pain, Jose. It's probably a good idea to try and talk to Brendan directly.
  14. Last part was great, except that they used the wrong spelling of "complement" for the occasion. OCRemixes for Bionic Commando Rearmed FTW.
  15. Totally wish I could have entered this.
  16. There are talks of MAG VII being on New Year's Day. Discuss.
  17. My friends and I (well, only a couple of us) will still quote C&H on occasion. I became quite happy when I first saw your name because I knew exactly where it was from. My last name is Pesner. My dad's friends used to call him Pez as a teenager. I took the idea and ran with it, ever since my fanfiction.net account in 2000. It's been my handle everywhere ever since. There's another Pezman here... he and I will have to throw down someday. "Your mom is a Pez dispenser!" -Bustatunez at MAGFest
  18. Ugh. I'm just so sick of special interest funding. From anyone.
  19. Well yeah. But we as young kids were not going to notice or appreciate that. It was mostly OMG TALKING TURTLES BEATING UP ROBOTS AND MUTANTS! Seriously, what else could you ask for? Animaniacs and the other Spielberg cartoons, by contrast, I actually enjoy a little more now because I actually get all the jokes. I had no idea at the time who Orson Welles was, and I was a huge fan of The Critic in high school (where Lamarche actually made his debut, I think). So watching him now made everything different. Add to all this that nearly all of the famous voice actors of the day, along with Christopher Lloyd, came together to make Toonstruck, a little known but incredibly excellent point and click adventure game. Despite it being cartoony, it was definitely geared towards an older audience (a cow and sheep practice S&M... no, I'm not kidding). So that drove me to seek out the other work these people had done. Jim Cummings is my hero. Meh... JLU was worse than Justice League. All the other heroes seemed ornamental anyways, as the writers still mostly focused on the original seven. However, I do love the Timmverse/Diniverse and am quite upset Mark Hamill isn't playing the Joker in the new Batman Beyond. Fairly Odd Parents is probably the only Nicktoon today that can consistently entertain me from beginning to end every time. I don't know how the writers do it every time.
  20. Sounds good to me. I personally have almost no qualms with it production wise. Everything seems well-mastered and sits comfortably in their part of the mix. You go back and forth between original material and Magus' theme frequently. Of course, I'm no judge (and definitely don't have anything like this up my sleeve), but this looks good to me.
  21. Fuck. Another awesome looking project, and me without skills to contribute. EDIT: Fuck what I just said. I missed VotL... I might as well try for this. See if I can't put something together.
  22. This is why I'll get the Wii aftterwards.
  23. So there's no jamspace stuff from Friday on? Or is this just what's been posted so far?
  24. I think I can ask it now: When are the photos, videos, and recordings going up? Preferably those with me in them.
  25. In the way of software, we've been through this. There's no easy way to do it. But there's a well-known trick that may get you something: 1. Open up your track in an editor 2. Split the stero track into two mono tracks 3. Invert the signal on one of them 4. Play it back and listen. Depending on the song, it may sound mostly the same to vastly different. But hopefully the vocals will be gone. Usually the vocals are recorded equally in both halves, so inverting one will usually take them out almost entirely. I don't know of any site where you can easily download tracks without vocals though.
