Radical Dreamers: Thieves of Fate - History
The Pezman replied to Geoffrey Taucer's topic in Projects
Just thought I'd mention it. I mean, with only 14-16 tracks in the entire game, I figure it can't take that long to finish it. And I also figure Cross is a natural progression from RD, so certain MIDIs could even be reused. -

Are there plans to move onto Cross after this? I think (hope) by then I might be sk1ll3d enough to contribute. -
Just bought myself an Ashbory...
The Pezman replied to Malcos's topic in Music Composition & Production
I listened to the samples... to me, they sounded little (if any) different from a typical bass. But then again, I am not a bassist. So let me know how it works out. Are we going to talk eclectic instruments now? -
Drum triggers/DIY electric drum kit

I've worked with the PIC controllers before in electronics class. I didn't try and do anything like this though. But maybe I should have... -
GameBoy Refill - OCR Exclusive [UPDATE]
The Pezman replied to anosou's topic in Music Composition & Production
Ugh... I've worked with the MBoxes before... what can they do that more reliable hardware can't? -
But the biggest question has yet to even be asked: Who among you will be getting this on its release date AND live within a fifteen mile radius of yours truly?

As the nominator, I feel obligated to cast my vote forward on SMTIII. The flagship of Final Fantasy antitheses, it's a great step forward in showing the breadth and depth that an RPG can really have. Oh, and it has a wonderfully dark soundtrack as well.

Well, Frequency and Amplitude are quite nice spin offs, IMO, and they're pretty cheap. You're right about the difficulty of finding Rez nowadays, though, and that's why I'm content to download an image of it, burn it to DVD and play it that way.

Dunno if this has been posted yet... http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h76/Kefka691/Smashbrawl-2.png But this should be our motherfuckin' brawl.

Some of my favorite games are quite obscure: Silent Scope 3 Rez Frequency/Amplitude Okage: Shadow King Shin Megami Tensei III Enough to start.

Definitely. I am not one to poo-poo new technology, mostly because pretty much any technological innovation ends up reliable and affordable enough to enter our lives. It's always a step forward, and thinking in the "If it ain't broke" mindset is anathema to tech developers.

Final Fantasy VII: Voices of the Lifestream - History
The Pezman replied to zircon's topic in Projects
I'm loving the rotting pizza remix. And the chiptunes song... though I can't tell which one it's covering. And FFVII's one of my all time favorite games too... EDIT: One Winged Chiptune...? -
[GUIDE] Mixing for Free (updated 3/27/03)
The Pezman replied to oldtimer's topic in Music Composition & Production
Wow... can't believe I didn't notice this for a month. I'd love to see those reviews, because KVR is very helpful but very big and overwhelming as well. Something like this can help to pare it down. -
GameBoy Refill - OCR Exclusive [UPDATE]
The Pezman replied to anosou's topic in Music Composition & Production
Thank you kindly sir. -
Those of us who aren't douchbags wouldn't mind that mashup Mephisto mentioned, a la Zircon's VOTL preview.

My friend pointed out the striking theme between the titles of these two computer music program and I couldn't help but laugh. Mostly because I'd never noticed it before. Has this made the rounds on OCR before?
-
Thanx Fishy. This is exactly what I was after. I know that files from any program other than Reason or FL will probably not work, since they all depend on exterior VSTs. But as someone who's just starting, I don't mind limiting myself to those two programs in order to get the feel. Can the mods make a sticky for these in the Reason and FL forums? I mentioned before why pure MIDIs are only so helpful to me (since it's the stuff after it's imported that I'm really after at this point) but it certainly can't hurt to have them. Being that I'm a drummer and all.

I'm less ticked with the universe than my folks, who will not let me take the car out of state, and my brother, who will be galavanting around with it in my absence. -
OverClocked ReMix Content Policy - Final Enacted 6/12/2007
The Pezman replied to djpretzel's topic in Site Issues & Feedback
I've been wondering this for a while... I imagine some of you are aware of the concept of Creative Commons (http://creativecommons.org/). It's a special type of licensing which encourages collaboration, reuse and remixing; an extension of the concept of open-source, except applied to digital production other than code. Not ALL rights are released, just some of them. Has the idea of applying such a license to albums (if not individual songs) come up before? If not, I would enocurage it; doing so would create an official tie between OCRemix and Creative Commons, and people who were not previously aware of the concept would be brought into the fold. And if, by contrast, you already use CC licenses on your songs (and thus make most of this post totally irrelevant) I would request that you make it more public (perhaps a link to the CC website). -

Yay new smaller, more streamlined thread. Montclair, NJ. It's in Northern New Jersey and about forty minutes away from NYC. If anyone reading this will be driving through NJ to get to DC, I would very much appreciate a lift. I'll pay for half the gas or whatever, but it'll be cheaper than the bus or train (which I'd have to take otherwise). Hopefully minimal, if I can get a ride. Otherwise I'll have to do the bus (cost unknown... I've never taken it interstate before) or the train (roughly $125 round trip). That very much depends on circumstances. If I'm hitching a ride from someone I'll come whenever they're coming. If not, it depends what will be happening before the Fri show. Nah. I'll be spending enough as it is. If I'm not hitching a ride, I'll probably stay through the OCR Saturday events and then leave around five or six. What time I'm arriving depends largely on whether there will be an activity. So for the purposes of determining that, count me in. I'd certainly like to go sightseeing so long as we don't spend too much extra money in the process. And, if possible, I'd like to sit down with some OCRemixers, laptop in hand (well, lap) and ask about mixing stuff in person. That sounds great to me. -

Ultimate Frisbee is fun, especially when I haven't done it for a couple of years and remember how out of shape I am, but yet how exhilarated I feel at the same time. As far as a setup is concerned, I'm sure most of us can bring our own consoles. I can bring my PS2 (it's all I have) as well as a set-top box in order to send the typical RCA outputs to a Windows Media Center computer (including my laptop). -

I'd like to reiterate that I'm in New Jersey and would appreciate anyone coming down from the north making a stop. -
Since I can't help but constantly ask questions, here's one for y'all: I see a lot of pimpin setups, with multiple synths, machines, and other stuff like that. Makes you all look very sk1ll3d, even before I've heard a single note of a single track. That said, both space and money are issues for me. I have is a real skin-and-bones setup: my MIDI controller (Roland Ax-7 keytar!) plugged into my PC laptop (top of the line two years ago: 2 GB Ram, 3.4 GHz CPU, 100 GB HD) with a 750 GB external for storing whatever the hell I need to store. If I, in the process of understanding the MIDI-based mixing process, am getting this correctly, most of what's going on today is going on digitally. So, I suppose my question goes something like this: Why the large setups? Why not little more than mine (a better computer, better speakers)? Of course, many of you have guitars, so perhaps recording is an issue as well.

It's all looking quite good. What did you all use to make these? FL Studio and Reason seem to carry the day most of the time around here, but I know there's more. I'm just trying to figure out exactly what that more is.
