  1. I would consider doing some basic generic tutorials for everybody sometime, let me know a few things you could use help with (everyone who would like some help should let me know a topic or two they would like a tutorial fruity loops project for and let me know either via PM or in this or some other topic) and I'll see if I can whip up something... no promises though.
  2. I've never actually tried it either, and if the clips are even a little bit off from eachother it wouldn't work.
  3. Like I said, easy solution. USE A DIFFERENT PLUGIN! If you want to start all over with a new DAW just because of this, then go right ahead, but I think it's a bit of a waste of time.
  4. That should work fine, and yes, the help files often surprise me with how complete they are.
  5. Simple answer, use a different Effect, (no need to get overcomplicated in most cases, FL Reverb should work for most things) Or, if you simply must use that effect, then just record the pattern and put it in as an audio clip and move it to counter delay. I fail to see how using a different host could help matters at all, if it needs a delay, it needs a delay no matter which host you're using. You could (if you needed to) have a seperate insert for your non delayed tracks and route the other inserts into that one (and not the master) then just set the delay on that insert to match that of the delay of the effect. You can do this using the delay box on the bottom left of the mixer insert effects chain box. Good luck.
  6. Midi rips = bad, anyone can take a midi and switch the sounds. If you want to use midi (it can save a ton of time in figuring out the song) then go ahead, but use it as a base to make your own material off of (meaning use it just to know the notes in the song, but try to re-make the song in your own personal style). Everyone has their own taste, but midi-rips are just stealing someone elses work.
  7. Ok, thanks, I was wondering, but I'm in no rush so take your time.
  8. If you can find the music without the singing you can invert the phasing, then play it over top, this should effectively cut out the music.
  9. If you have any more trouble with this then I'd recommend you watch a few tutorials or something just to help understand how a DAW (specifically fruity loops in this case) works, fool around a little bit and try to learn how channels/vst's/vsti's work in the program, it will be tough to do too much of anything productive without this knowledge.
  10. To be more specific, all you need to do to change the FX slot that channels are linked to is to click the big channel button (the thing with the channels name on it) and the channel settings box should pop up, then just click on the LCD display in the very top right of the box (with "FX" under it) and drag up or down to choose the mixer insert you want, if you don't want any, then just drag down till it says "- -". As a side note, if you used the "assign free mixer track" option, or the "Link selected channels to this track" option, then even if you change the mixer track it's linked to, the one it was assigned to will still be named and colored to match the channel, to change this back, just right click>rename and delete the name and change the color back.
  11. I'm working my way through building a zebra patch right now, then I think I'm gonna try albino. Thanks for the tips Avaris, they were very helpful.
  12. I think I'll probably get EWQLSO silver for my first orchestral samples, it'll be a while untill I do though.
  13. These two tips are definitely true, I still often leave my bassline and percussion too late and kick my self later.
  14. I'm really enjoying trying to improve through this competition, to be honest, the song I entered in the underwater theme competition was my first song, the one for this theme was my second. I had a bit of trouble remixing songs, so this compo was good because I could write my own. Lets get the next round started soon!
  15. Not entirely sure what you mean here, but if you're just having trouble replacing your midi channel with a kontakt 3 channel then you should just be able to hit replace>kontakt 3, does only kontakt3 not work? If you're still having trouble then try this; file>import>midi then try these options; start new project (unchecked) create one channel per track (unchecked)<- this one is important realign events (checked) Which tracks to import? all tracks which channels to import? (all checked) Now you should just be able to replace the midi channels with kontakt or whatever you want, if you still can't you could always try importing the midi then just cut+paste it from the midi channel into the kontakt channel's piano roll. Hope this helps, if I'm way off then try to explain what you need a little better.
  16. As far as cash, I've noticed that the average cost for a good synth is about $200, and I wouldn't like to go much higher than that. I've downloaded the demos for zebra2, z3ta+, vanguard, albino, FM8, and absynth, but I doubt I'll get very in depth into any of them, I'd rather pick one to get used too. I'm more interested in what most of you guys use, whether it be freeware, or payware or whatever else. What's YOUR favorite? I've been using Synth1 for a while now and I'm starting to be limited by it. Even though I'm still relatively new to electronic music, I'd rather spend a little extra cash now rather than have to upgrade 5 times to meet my needs. As for the type of sounds I want to make, like I said, I don't really want to be limited by it. I'd like to be able to make anything from ambient pads to crazy lead synths. Thanks for your help so far, keep it coming!
  17. I have a little spare cash on hand and am looking to expand my workstation. I'm looking for a good software synth/sample library/generator to enhance my sounds that's relatively cheap, but a good value that won't limit me too much, I don't want to be limited by what I can do with it (primarily for a synth, which is what I'd like to get) but something that I can also make simple sounds with without too much trouble. I'd like something VST compatable that works well inside a DAW. I've been using mainly synth1 up to this point, and while it's great for the simple sounds, I'd like to get something a little better. Any suggestions!?
  18. Nice job everyone! Congrats on yet another well deserved victory Blue.Nocturne!
  19. This is a sweet idea for a compo, I'm glad it finally got revived, I'll see what I can do about getting in on it sometime, Join up people! Don't let the goodness die!
  20. I simply meant that if I did want something like that I wouldn't necessarily want the numbers that I wanted to pitch bend to would be 12 and 2.
  21. Pretty nice actually, a good interpretation of a rock arrangement of this song, transition at 1:08 is a little muddy, you could possibly either change or cut some of the harmonies at this point. note at about 1:56 sounds a little off, even if it does resolve... Stick around here, we can always use another good live guitarist. I'm sure that if you keep going with it then you'll get lots of people asking for your skills. Good length on this song too.
  22. As fancy and complicated as this is, I don't think I would ever in a million years have any use for it, even if I did I doubt that the numbers would line up exactly with 2-12.
  23. Speaking of CM magazine, anyone know how to get an edition of it in Canada other than buying a subscription?
  24. Can we listen to some of these examples you said you could get for us? Oh, and however helpful theory is, I know many people who would argue that it's entirely unnecessary, including some published OC remixers. Do you ever get ideas in your head as you shower or walk to you job or school or something? Every once in a while I'll try to compose a song in my head in the middle of math class once I'm done taking notes, I then try to realize what I'm doing to make it sound good. This is just me though, some people don't have the ability to hear music in their head like that.
  25. Submitted, and with hours to spare! I'll be back for voting too, good luck everyone!
