1. Ugh... This thread is huge, how can I find out what the current theme is? I have trouble finding out what's going on from this thread.
2. Looks like I was wrong here too, so wait, can they even actually copyright that? And if they do, then do we have to shut down? Also, *elbow jabs xRisingforce* let's get this next round started!
3. It's a little risky in being that the remixes are based on a commercial product, but what are you planning to do with the game, if it's flash/freeware, then I doubt anyone would care (obviously talk to the remixer and credit them) but if you're planning on selling it, then this probably is a good way to get sued.
4. We should make a thread for sharing projects sometime, I have a bunch of CMC projects I could eventually share if I ever got around to hosting them, I love Fruity zip files for that, it makes it easy to share them even without them having the samples. Most of mine wouldn't have too many fancy tricks going on though.
5. Glad you like it here, drop by every once in a while and join in with the community.
6. Actually, sfark is only meant for .sfark files, you want the sfpack program, hard to find these days, but luckily our good friend darkesword's got us covered, you can download sfpack and some other good soundfonts from his soundfont site here; http://soundfonts.darkesword.com/
7. WUT!? I don't think you understand, don't they just want to purchase the rights to use CMC as a name? I don't think it has anything to do with what CMC actually is, or the music produced in it.
8. Just choose a pad for the new sample, delete the existing samples, load in your own (via drag and drop browser or the open dialog box) then set velocity settings etc. repeat for each pad you want to change, (or just start with an empty preset) now click on the arrow in the top left of the plugin window, and find the option "save preset" choose where you want it, and name it. Now when you load the preset, your samples will pop up with the same settings.
9. This actually has nothing to do with FPC, it's general latency, it's something most beginners probably haven't heard of, so you aren't alone in this. Go to your audio settings (Tools>audio settings) then try to find something that says "Audio Buffer" or "show audio panel" or something like that (changes depending on sound card) go to that if you can find it and lower the audio buffer, it should have a reading in milliseconds somewhere. The number of milliseconds is how long it will take for input from your midi controller to actually play in the program, however, the lower the buffer is, the worse quality the sound will be. Most people with good computers and soundcards can manage around 10 ms without much or any loass in sound, but if you notice clicks or pops, or the underrun counter (also on the settings window) starts counting up, then you might want to increase the buffer a little. Hope this wasn't too confusing.
10. Good turnout this time, good amount of people and a wide range of styles of music. I'll hopefully get time to write up my critiques tomorrow. Good job/luck everyone!
11. That's really bizarre, everything works for automation except attack, decay, feedback and delay time (or the little knob for the display thingy). It won't automate it at all, not even through live recording, and if you look at the hint bar as you tweak, FL Studio doesn't know the knob exists! Oh well, what do you need to automate those for? Even if you do, you could just hook up a fruity envelope controller to the volume knob and play them in a layer so it triggers both as you hit the key (although this would run every note through the envelope, which could be a problem for anything polyphonic), or just have seperate instances of soundfonter for each articulation. Glad I could help! http://www.sanusart.com/SoundFonter_VSTi.zip It's a pretty good soundfont player actually.
12. ^ Completely seconded
13. Wow thanks for pointing me towards SPAN, I love it already, FL Studio's "selected " mixing track is great for this, I can just leave one of these on there, and see how all the mix parts fit together.
14. You can automate soundfonter just fine, in fact, it's very suited to automation (no pops or clicks, except for some weird effects when you aoutomate delay, but who does that anyways) All you have to do is just not use the "Last tweaked parameter" thingy which for some odd reason refuses to work. Go to the browser and go to Current project>Generators>Soundfonter then link the parameter you want to automation from there, or you can just automate it live by tweaking the knobs as you record.
15. It wasn't so bad, FL studio is good for that because you can just make the song using normal workflow and convert it all to midi afterwards (except automation). In short, ENTER! (You too Sadorf, and anyone else reading this) We need some more love for this compo. Not quite sure what you mean by that, if you mean that you can't hear anything, I'm not sure how come it exported like that, if you turn the volume up to full you might be able to hear it, otherwise just import it into some host to use it. If anyone can tell me why it's like that let me know.
16. Real Player? Not sure what you mean by that, if you mean a flash player or something the check out http://www.tindeck.com Even if you don't mean a flash player, check out http://www.tindeck.com, free mp3 hosting with little hassle.
17. I've had numerous problems with soundfonts using SFZ, it couldn't play the same soundfont in more than 2 instances, it would make a deathnoise at full blast, i've switched to soundfonter, I haven't had any problems yet (I think I tested this one up to 8 or so instances of the same sf with no problems) You can find it on KVR if you want.
18. Thanks Gileece, Song's done and sent in, hope everyone participates this next round! Anyone know of a good hosting site for midi's (yes I know this gets asked a lot)? I use tindeck, but they don't take midi's. I had to use private hosting. Also, since it worked last time: [*url="http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=16955"][*IMG]http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p64/Zephyr_Tread/Enter-ORC-banner.gif[/IMG] Remove * and insert correct address when topic is made.
19. Funny thing about automating tempo is that it goes through the automation at a speed according to tempo, so a straight line actually won't give you a steady tempo change, it will need to have some tension on it in some way.
20. Yup, I'm still working on it, I'll need this weekend to finish it up, I'll try to get it in by Monday if that's not too late.
21. I strongly recommend using the playlist if you aren't, it's a very powerful tool (not to mention a MAIN part of the interface), try it out. And DDR Kirby, I used to think the same thing about pattern clips, but now I use them for adding fills and stuff into drum loops and patterns, I either slice off the end of the loop, then make a really short pattern and shove it in the space (thus allowing the original pattern to be unnaffected) but it's also good for gettting rid of lead-ups in songs, if a pattern has a 1 bar leadup or something I'd have to make a new pattern if I want to loop that sequence later (without the lead-up) but with pattern clips I just chop off the lead-up and I'm good to go! They have other uses to though I'm sure.
22. Haha, claim rights to it and make some money off this deal! On second thought, don't, we don't want casualties.
23. Sounds like a good idea to me, I think it would be best if it were just for OC ReMixers though, what would everyone else do with them anyways? It would really make it easier for users to find out what remixers are doing, and would help the remixers advertise albums, songs, projects, services etc. For a 1 time fee of 15 bucks I'd say that's very reasonable for a business asset, even for non business reasons, once the money is saved up and paid once, then you don't need to worry about it. I'm all for it.
24. Listen to lots of music! ITS GOOD FOR YOUR SOUL! also, I hope you feel better soon.
