  1. Gotta think of something for this round, maybe some track I always wanted to do but haven't gotten around to.Wow 10 years, that's indeed really somehing! I've been participating for five years I think. --Eino
  2. From the Road Rage tracklist, I remember thinking it didn't have the stuff I'd wanted to arrange. Setting tight constrains may help getting a more focused album together, but at the same time it's not landing into everyone's interests. Funny actually, I don't think I've really played any of the games of the projects I've finished tracks for. But in his case where I've played a lot of the DS version, getting to pick the source you really want from there instead of a sorter list seems more important. --Eino
  3. I have submitted my piece! --Eino
  4. I've playd the DS version quite a bit, and might well be up for covering a track if the project gets off the ground. --Eino
  5. I should be able to finish mine today. Edit: arranged & recorded to a satisfactory extent, needs some mixing time. Hopefully tonight. --Eino
  6. I've started something as well. --Eino
  7. 1. Finish studies 2. Get a job, support family 3. Enjoy downtime with family 4. Stop stressing so much 5. Still find time for music making 5.1. Fully arrange & record my VGM lullabies 5.2. Finish some of the 10-20 unfinished game arrangements I've started (and intend to finish) since 2008 5.3. Finish the soundtrack to a friend's game 5.4. Code, compose & arrange music for Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup (yeah right) ..or really, just number 4. --Eino
  8. Technically I have five more But all I have is the melody + lyrics I'm singing to my daughter at the moment. I have a vague plan to fully arrange & record them next year. --Eino
  9. Ok, here's finally the lyrics to Toteutukoon toiveesi. toteutukoon toiveesi mahdottomatkin sait tähdenlennon kiinni tyhjyydessä matkanneen sekunneissa mursi tuhkaks' ilmakehä sen vuosimiljardeja matkanneen talven taivaalla tähdet tuikkia saa nouse hämärän syliin keinumaan se vie sinut kuuhun vie sinut tähtiin vie sinut kauas ja lähellä pitää yö on ystäväsi yksinäisyyksineen laula paremmaksi sen huonot puoletkin yö on ystäväsi taikoineen, unineen täysikuukin paistaa talven taivaalla.. se vie sinut kuuhun.. So what does it say? Here's a literal translation and when I say literal, it's almost google translate literal, i.e. it very much loses it's lyricalness and what not. may your wishes come true even the impossible ones you caught a falling star that travelled in the void in seconds, it was broken by the atmosphere it travelled billions of years in the night sky, the stars may shine climb to the lap of darkness for a rock-a-by it will take you to the moon take you to the stars take you far away and keep you close by the night is your friend with its lonelinesses sing to make it better the bad sides, too the night is your friend with its spells and dreams the full moon is shining too Man, that's awkward. Much better & more meaningful in Finnish, please believe me. As you can tell I did start with the first line from Serrah's theme for the lyrics but went from there to the falling star & lullaby direction. So you probably gathered that this is a lullaby. It's an actual functional lullaby in that our daughter (soon three years old) likes it very much. It's her current favourite of the VGM lullabies I've made for her. It's also the first I've recorded (I made it in this competition). I was able to work the lyrics & singing away from the computer and also sang it a bit to her before recording (which was great for the workflow, since I didn't have much time on the computer) but she really only started enjoying it after hearing the recorded version. I guess that's that. --Eino
  10. That's a freaking magnificent box of stuff. Oomph. --Eino
  11. Thanks for great comments Avaris & Chimpazilla! I think I'll do some tweaks right now. --Eino
  12. If anyone is up for a collab, I could play some modest guitar to the Batman source tune. edit: Wow, the Assassin's Creed source is really really nice, and very remixable to boot. I can do that too! (but *very* modestly) --Eino
  13. Thanks for the review RiverSound! I agree with everything you said. Thanks especially for pointing out the dissonant parts. I felt I didn't get the harmony quite right. Hope's theme has been transposed up a little to the same key as Lulu's; the mode (modality, somethingsomething) is also changed to fit, and the melody is changed to to fit the chord changes in Lulu's A part. It's not nearly as recognizable as I'd have liked (plus, the dissonance..), but I hope it at least a little bit Hope-ful. Yeah, there was much copy-paste. I do intend to continue working on the piece, so there shall be varying up the beat to a satisfying degree. The structure also needs some more work, the last section doesn't quite flow as well as it should. Thanks again for the criticism + the compliments as well! --Eino
  14. It's looking like I won't be able to pledge.. bummer. Hope you reach the goal! I'll have to grab it later. I at least tweeted the link to all my 23 followers. --Eino
  15. I've heard that putting the exercise bike in front of the TV is effective. Watch series and game while working out. Sounded like a good tip, haven't tried mysel. --Eino
  16. I decided to sleep instead. Sleep is good. Then I realized, there's still time until about six in Monday morning here. So plenty of time still! --Eino
  17. I'll probably set aside time next night.. Heh. --Eino
  18. Sounds like a fantastic idea. I'd print some for myself. --Eino
  19. I like how the beat & bass pushes this forwards relentlessly. Very enjoyable. I'll see if I can post a bit more feedback later, got to run now. But I did just listen to this about 10 times on the background, it's good. --Eino
  20. I keep enjoying this piece. Somehow, the harmony of the bass sounded not quite right at 1:19-1:23. I don't hear anything wrong with it if I listen to it separately, but if I listen from the start it jumps at me. I don't think I heard anything "wrong" in the similar sections later in the piece. I really like the slight adjustment to chord progression/bass line towards the end of the track, from 3:25 onwards. Also the drowning effect is really funny to me in the end, especially with the MM death SFX. Rozovian's subtle bitchrush-automation idea definitely sounds it's worth trying out. --Eino
  21. I enjoyed listening to this quite a bit. Like I said, I really like the high energy in the Hyperspace section, and the shift to half tempo in the Tyrian section is quite cool. Harmony-wise I thought the transition was a little awkward, as the pieces are in different modes (maybe just major vs minor?) or something and the transition plays them together for some time. (It's not that uncommon to hear this in DJ sets and it always bothers me ) The two sections feel quite separate as compositions, like two pieces that are segued together. This might well be a problem if you are planning to submit this to OCR according to the standards, but apart from the harmony in the transition, it didn't detract from the listening enjoyment. Also re: OCR standars is that the hyperspace section felt pretty close to the original, and the panel might be looking for more reinterpretation. Don't know about the Tyrian part since I'm not nearly as familiar with the sources, but I'll say that the sources must have fit together well (or you have fitted them together well), since I couldn't really tell there were two sources. The only other crits that I have is that the brass synth to the left that starts at 1:30 has awkward timing, and the old school tracker-sounding lead starting at 4:59 was a bit upfront and dry in the mix. Good work! --Eino
  22. Oh, I probably sounded like I was whining about it. I just meant it was funny I didn't notice until now. Marrying 3/4 and 4/4 shouldn't be hard, plus it's like reinterpretation for free. --Eino
  23. I only just now realized Hope's theme and Lulu's theme are in different time signatures.. well, I still haven't done any work on my piece, I would have realized earlier if I had. I have an oomphton of course work.. --Eino
  24. I'm not really one to say, but my mother-in-law has one that looks like that and I trust she picked something that plays well. Felt ok to me though I'm not really a piano player. --Eino
  25. I have the basic idea in my head for my piece, but I don't know when I'll get the time to sit down with it. Will do something at least though. I'd really like to put together a decent competition to that guy with 44 mix posts, so I hope can I get a good number of hours down. Also thanks! For the review Garpo! Good observations in there! Brandon! You used too much commas! To emulate! This writing style! --Eino
