  1. I just heard this on the Sega Mixer Driver listening party, and I liked it a lot. Classy rnb-style vocals, really good, strong song, and it remind me of the McAlmont & Butler album, which is a pretty good thing in my books. Looking forwards to listening to this more! --Eino
  2. I think this is a good idea and a cool thing to do. I haven't had the time to check it out though. --Eino
  3. Well, I enjoyed that. I'm not familiar with the original, but the idea of transforming GB music (V means Gameboy Mega Man, right?) to NES/VRC6 is a fun one. --Eino
  4. Props for getting so much out of the source tune everyone! I didn't frankly like it, but I am enjoying everyone's takes. --Eino
  5. Aha, I was actually confused what you were saying: first I thought you thought it was Japanese (turns out this was correct), but then the video you posted made me think that you meant to say it all sounded like "blah blah blah". I was confused, so I didn't reply. Yes, it's Finnish. I'm not surprised that you thought it was Japanese actually, the syllabes in Finnish and Japanese are pronounced very similarly for the most part (which supposedly means it's not hard for a Finnish speaker to pronounce Japanese fairly correctly). I'm trying to listen to the track as if it was in Japanese but it's pretty hard for me.. but I think I can hear the "accent". Hmh, wish I had worked that instrumental bit from Serrah's theme into the song. It's pretty complete (structure-wise) as it is though.. --Eino
  6. I hope this picks up these final 10 days, it sounds like a great gig. I can't pledge this time (plus I don't think it's my kind of a game, though the music would be worth it on its own), but the rest of you all should! --Eino
  7. Yes, Esperado got it correct. Also, to answer your earlier question Esperado, a mod (in this context) is a type of a music file/format, that you can produce with tracker software. It originated on the Amiga at the end of 80s. In contrast to a MIDI (which has just the notation), a mod contains both the notation AND the samples which are to be played. The reason I was talking about using a mods was that I use Renoise, which is a modern tracker and can load mods. Renoise can import midi too, but the mod is the original data that was played in the game, so it basically IS the source. --Eino
  8. Sure! That sounds fun. Would be glad to do something like that. I hopefully will have my gear trouble sorted out by then (or get someone to help out).

  9. Crazy good soundtrack. Just came up on random in my player; I had to stop working eventually and check what it was. --Eino
  10. The return of Showroom Dummy? Yesyesyes, extension please! I'll do a quick tune, too. --Eino
  11. Mwahaha, my plot, using a mysterious strange language is obviously working! Sure, I can put the lyrics and a literal translation together if I get a moment for it. Thanks for all the comments & interest folks! --Eino
  12. Y'know, Rexy is hosting another listening party on Friday with Sega Mixer Drive, so technically it is possible to do that more often. I'll probably be there, and spare the album until then! --Eino
  13. Thanks! The words are in Finnish. I had to use a crappy headset for the vocals, I have a proper microphone but I couldn't locate it, plus I think I don't have anything that would function as a preamp. Oh woe!

  14. For a second I imagined stoof to be an onomatopoetic subgenre of acoustic metal. --Eino
  15. I have the backing down, rather skeletal but it'll do. Probably messed up the harmony and am not noticing it. I sure hope I have the chance to record the vocals before the deadline.. (: --Eino
  16. Wrote some chords for Serrah's theme to make it go with Lulu's.. Fun stuff I wouldn't have done without is competition. Still haven't got a note tracked or recorded though! --Eino
  17. I'm always baffled with the notion tha OCR wouldn't or shouldn't post some stranger genres. It's like people don't pay attention to the left field stuff that gets posted. Of course the more accessible stuff is more prominent, there's more people making and listening to that kind of stuff (and it's not like OCR has profiled itself as AvantGarde ReMix). However, to me it's always been clear that OCR welcomes all sorts of music, just by listening what's there and especially reading djp's writeups. It's a bit like with obscure games and platforms. Just like with them, it's a huge appeal of OCR to me that sometimes unusual styles of music pop up. I can sympathise with getting less support or attention when you stray off the beaten path. But me, to use Gridlock as an example, I enjoy Messuggah occasionally and appreciate that track a lot. Just haven't gotten around to properly review it. --Eino
  18. Yup, FFCC first this weekend. But since this is an Amiga track, it's in MOD format, and it'd be interesting to work from that. So, maybe.. --Eino
  19. I have half the lyrics written. Not sure if I have the recording gear. So I'm not sure what I'll eventually turn in. Too little time this week (family sick).. --Eino
  20. Spooky and groovy. Also, too good for me to give constructive feedback about. --Eino
  21. I don't think there was a bad idea yet, but I would be very interested in watching the Source Breakdown Show. *adjusts glasses* --Eino
  22. Oh boy, do want! Loved the previews of the previous EP. Would I need to add $$$ for international shipping? --Eino
  23. I was going to suggest you contact him. Seriously. That's just awesome. I didn't give the new version a listen yet, but I liked what I was hearing on the first version, and I'll try to give a closer listen soon. --Eino
