  1. Well, I don't have any funds to put into it, but I would like to put some sort of a collection together before long, as a manifestation of my passion for gaming. Haha. I actually have received a Commodore 64 and a Nokia NGage (don't laugh) for free.. I have a bunch of PS2 games but own no machines I can play them on. It's crazy. C64 has a pretty cool homebrew scene with commercial games coming on cartridges, looking forward to owning some of those hopefully not too far from now. That TurboExpress sounds like a great find! I actually think if you're repairing a piece of old gaming gear you're doing something good. (: --Eino
  2. I quite enjoyed this in the PRC, so I'm definitely looking forward to any updates! --Eino
  3. I didn't find the time to vote (let alone enter.. I wish I could have, since I've been thinking of covering this tune, that happens rarely in PRC ) but I did listen & enjoy all the entries! Great work everyone! It was fun to hear such diverse takes. And nine voters too! That's pretty good! --Eino
  4. I just listened to both of these while drawing some course work, fun laidback stuff with some nice anecdotes (BGC getting the ME2 gig for example) and good info about ins and outs of OCR. I'll be catching the upcoming talkbacks as well! --Eino
  5. I love Ekaj's Super Metroid mix and this one is also a perfectly balanced mix of heavy beats and oozing atmosphere. More, please? --Eino
  6. Not much to add, very deliberately paced, solid moody track, nothing superfluous, nothing lacking. Vocals work very well in this one; I can understand and even agree with the suggestions for technical improvements here, but most importantly they sounded very convincing on an emotional level, I felt like the singer was meaning what he was saying. Actually, that's a sweet note, which is the opposite of a sour note. Scientific fact. This made me think about the ending, and I agree with this previous guy here: I thought the ending was a great fit. --Eino
  7. Duhhh, I managed to miss the map themes part.. I even wondered about the project title. The idea I've been kicking around is for SMB overworld theme. Anyway, I think the focus & scope is quite excellent, lots of fun! --Eino
  8. Congrats on reaching your goal & more! I gotta agree, the artwork looks really good, with a fun concept. --Eino
  9. I first got into Fast Tracker II, and never really got the hang of the Impulse Tracker style interface though it supposedly very powerful with all the keyboard shortcuts. Anyway, I started using Renoise in 2008 and it has pretty much the tracker interface I'm used to, plus just about everything I dreamed would be cool back then.. I never got very productive in a regular DAW environment, so Renoise has been really good for me. --Eino
  10. Hehe, sure I'm around. I have some stuff to be posted on OCR, I do my stuff on the tracker and certainly get that .ITs and .XMs part from your blurp in the original post, if I get back into making original pieces on the tracker I'll be sure to send some Reunion's way. (: --Eino
  11. This is a pretty cool project concept, that would break some new ground. The idea of SMB music as the source material sounds like a lot of fun. I actually have an idea I've worked on a bit that would fit this concept, I doubt I could pull the required production values together for it on my own, but I could get some substantial work done on the arrangement and see if someone would like to collab on it with me. --Eino
  12. Reunion rulez. I like to set the filter in my music player to "Probably Electronic" and enjoy the consistently good results. --Eino
  13. I really appreciate these introductions. Especially the notion of sending PMs to mod reviews, I would have thought that each of you monitors the boards for mod review threads, and that I should just wait. It's also great to have a summary of expertise, that helps with who to contact. --Eino
  14. Damn, I was just yesterday thinking how I'd like to cover this tune. Urgh, I really don't have the time! --Eino
  15. Well, my dear daughter just fractured my old original DS. :/ --Eino
  16. Urgh.. another sunday night/early morning listening party? I'd really love to participate, the Gunstar Heroes parties were a lot of fun! --Eino
  17. I like the scope of this project. Should be interesting! :> --Eino
  18. Powerful stuff, great playing and good clarity in the mixing. I think the music has a nice balance between complexity and straightforwardness for my taste in heavy prog-influenced music. I also enjoy the switching between angular riffing to grand, majestic feel and back. And then there's "Solar" which is something quite else again. Unsurprisingly, the bass is super tasty throughout. Very riff based, there's little overtly melodic content here but I'm really not missing that. I like how the pieces don't drag on, but are quite concise. Easier to enjoy on repeat! --Eino
  19. Thanks for the crits! That all makes sense to me. I'll look through the source for more material to use in the lead & support writing. I'll take care of the soundspace issues as well (thicker lead/support instruments I'm thinking) and look at the snare too. Again, thanks! --Eino
  20. Install iTunes -> sell soul to Apple -> buy album -> also buy the Roof Beam Carpenters album while you're at it -> convert to MP3 -> uninstall iTunes can't get your soul back from Apple tough Kidding about souls and Apple, but not sure I want to jump through those hoops either. DarkeSword, won't the bitching about iTunes-only in this thread help make Capcom consider other distribution channels? --Eino
