  1. I think you're referring to the Alexandria Mark Hilton that MAG 6-9 and 8.5 took place at. There's no college less than five miles from the National Harbor (with the closest community colleges being 30+ miles away), and you'd have no choice but to bus it from 'em since you can't exactly walk on 495.
  2. Yeah, the Wii games up for purchase seem kind of unnecessary, but at $10 a pop in the first week, I don't even care. Shoot, I don't even care that I already own two of them physically (I had no idea Metroid Prime Trilogy would get hit with the price shenanigans it did, but I'm a huge Metroid fan and bought it on launch day regardless). I'm buying all three anyways; Galaxy 2 just finished installing on my external HDD. I fully understand I'm part of the problem, lol EDIT: Also, I should note that it really weird that I just bought Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Shantae and the Pirate's Curse simultaneously, and the former was half the price of the latter. This coming from the company who's physical, first-party, tentpole releases stay full price for the entire life of the system they're on, so Galaxy 2, Galaxy 1, and hell even the now ages old Zelda: Twilight Princess, were still 49.99 up until the Wii made way for its successor.
  3. We actually mentioned it on last night's, but we won't be doing next week; damn near all of staff will be at MAGFest! There might be one the following week on Apex Friday though; depends on whether Larry's available that night or not.
  4. Ah, thanks much for that link. The OP post has been updated with all three of our panels as well as OCU's concert.
  5. I'm very very interested in that $175 iMac, but 2.5 weeks before MAGFest is not the time for me to be using loads of money, lol
  6. I just finished Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck.
  7. Man, this is me we're talking about, of course I had an external hard drive lying around to give up solely for Wii U usage. XD Though most of what I've bought to date has been Virtual Console and smaller sized eShop games anyways. The only full size thing I've downloaded was Wonderful 101. MK8, Smash, DKC: Tropical Freeze, SM 3D World, and Hyrule Warriors are all on physical disc.
  8. https://p.nintendo.net/deluxe/ - Today and tomorrow are your last day to take advantage of this! If you've been buying anything on the eShop on your 32gb Wii U in the last few months at all, go here and log in with your Club Nintendo account to see how many points you earned. The promotion ends at midnight on New Years, and you get reward cards in 500 point sets, so if you're, say, 30 points away from another $5 in eShop credit, you should buy some random cheap game on there right now to make sure you get dat money. Despite only having had my Wii U for a month now, I had $15 in credit sitting there that I just redeemed. I'm pretty pleased.
  9. 1. I'M REALLY FEELING IT (a.k.a. Shulk) 2. Chell 3. Eevee
  10. Yeah, the guy who sent the e-mail is on the east coast too, so he meant 6pm EST on 12/29. However, to make sure I get any late requests to get in the OCR block in time, since I may be busy at work, I'd prefer if people contacted me by 12 noon EST tomorrow. I edited that post to make that clear.
  11. Got the e-mail from MAG staff about an hour ago asking me to confirm the OCR block. Eight people are on it, and I've messaged all of them already to confirm their listed reservation numbers are right. So if you haven't gotten any sort of message from me, you reserved a room at the Gaylord for MAGFest, and you wanted your room to be in the OCR block (i.e. all our rooms will be in the same stretch of hallway), you need to let me know ASAP. I need to confirm with MAG staff by 6pm EST on Monday 12/29... which means, ideally, you let me know before 12 noon, because I may be busy at work and don't want to risk leaving you out.
  12. BRING YO' A-GAME PEOPLE. (I have two Smash-branded Nintendo GCN controllers to replace the off-brand ones you see in this pic, as well as two Wii Classic Controller Pros. I'll be picking up two more of each in two days. So you don't even have to bring your own controller if you don't want to. Do bring your A-game though. You'll need that much.)
  13. I hit up the Rockville, MD concert tonight and, as usual, it was wonderful! My favorite part of the night was when they closed out with an awesome arrangement of Millennial Fair from Chrono Trigger... accompanied by two dozen random people in the audience who yelled the appropriate HAUGH a few seconds into the song. I lost it. (if you look closely, you'll see our community's very own Nonamer in the chorus)
  14. - Gameplay of V at the Capcom Cup for those out of the loop. The Revenge meters offer some definite potential, IMO.
  15. YO, TUNE IN AGGAAAIIIINNNN! Solid crowd on stream tonight! DarkeSword, Liontamer, Rexy, José, Tera, and me so far, with potentially more to come.
  16. My copies of MK8 and Hyrule Warriors came in the mail today. Assuming the Javascript class I'm ditching work to take most of next week doesn't wipe me out, I'll be there on Wednesday for HOT AND HEAVY POWER SLIDING ACTION
  17. Done! For anyone interested in a status update on this project at large, please see this thread in the Community forum.
  18. So I've been trying to run this album project based on this pretty awesome idea DarkeSword came up with, for an imaginary sequel to Super Mario RPG, and I've run into some trouble with it. Mainly, I just haven't had as much time to devote to it as I wish, so while a few people keep popping up to submit WIPs and help me out a little (and these people are awesome!), I'm unable to find the time to properly recruit and steer it, and so the project itself has pretty much been sitting in stasis for some time now. After discussing things with several folks, I've come to the conclusion that the best way of getting this project back on track is to ask around and see if anyone's interested in helping co-direct, so that's what I'm doing here. Preferably, I'd like to bring someone on board who has already completed a project for OCR before; I feel like my newness at directing is what's holding this back, and it would be important for a second person to offset that deficiency. At the same time, I wouldn't be leaving the project, and would put just as much work into it as you'd expect a director would. Would anyone be interested in helping out with this? The original thread for this project is over in the Recruit & Collaborate forums, of course; here's a direct link. It'd be prudent for anyone who's interested in this to read that whole thing over, since this project has some very specific themes, as you could guess by something that's not just a straight "remix album of a particular game" kind of deal. There's several important things I'd want to discuss with anyone coming on board beyond just the basics of what the project is, but one of the important ones I want to hit here just for everyone to publically know is that whenever this comes to fruition, we'd want to schedule it to not conflict with ToN's project, which is a straight remix album of SMRPG. Both need their own time in the spotlight.
  19. Hah! Yeah, I ended up getting Mario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriors (though I'll still get Wind Waker HD and Bayonetta 2 eventually). They'll take two weeks to arrive in the mail though. I'll absolutely buy all the MK8 DLC when it arrives; I can't resist more Isabelle in my life.
  20. Just chiming in here cause I wasn't sure from the OP and the last couple of posts, but if I'm reading this correctly, you all do weekly Mario Kart 8 tournaments that start at 10pm EST on Wednesdays and are an hour long? I ask because I want to take advantage of Best Buy's current Buy One Get One 40% Off deal with Wii U games after work today, and there's a high chance one of those games will be MK8.
  21. Fiiiiinally joined the cool kids and got myself one of these. Currently only have Nintendo Land, Mario 3D World, DKC Tropical Freeze, and Smash. Will pick up Hyrule Warriors, Wind Waker HD, and Mario Kart 8 eventually. Nintendo ID is Arrowned, of course.
  22. Somebody else will have to answer the rest of your questions, but: "What do these tags mean: compo, compo-dod" - Tracks that originally came from competitions (such as anything in here) and were subbed to OCR later on, with the latter tag being stuff specifically coming from the Dwelling of Duels compo. "Should I ignore these tags as irrelevant: resub, collab" - For the purposes of your project here, yeah. A track that was submitted to OCR at least twice before passing the bar and a track that had multiple people involved shouldn't have any extra weight in a recommendation system. Well, I guess the latter might affect a system based specifically on how popular individual artists are, but I'm not sure that's what you're going for here.
