  1. Post-MAG Edit NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Post your thoughts, your pics, and your fun times to help stave off the PMD! --------------- Oh boy, it's a- MAGFEST 13! So yeah, a good number of us are going to MAGFest 8.5 next month (thread for that party is over here), but MAG 13, the usual January fare, just got announced! Gaylord National Hotel and Convention Center 201 Waterfront Street National Harbor, MD 20745 Jan 23 - 26, 2014 http://magfest.org/ - Hit it up. http://magfest.org/bookhotel - Hit it up again. Though at this point, you'll have to book rooms at the nearby hotels; the Gaylord's maxed out. OCR Block - The block itself, including Bahamut's suite, is in the high 6000s/low 6100s. https://groupme.com/ - Last year, we used GroupMe to chat in realtime in the "OverClocked ReMix" group all convention long, rather than wasting each other's text messages. Or we might switch to WhatsApp or something else? I dunno; we can figure that joint out later. Considering we'll all be in one giant block, might not be much of a need. If you're coming, sound off! 2. WE'RE LIVE (one hour early), TALKIN' BOUT GAME BOY
  3. Well yes, I instantly understood this was far too powerful to be a on legitimate NES (if for nothing else than the sound effects aren't forced to use one of the music channels); I was just saying "this perfectly fits the tone of the old NES greats".
  4. DarkeSword's post before yours sums it up best. This game doesn't just use pixel graphics and leaves it at that... it really takes to heart 8-bit level design and combines it with 25 years of knowledge on what works better in video games to streamline it to greatness. If you had told me this game was one of the 8-bit greats alongside Mega Man 2, Castlevania 3, and the like that was never released until someone found a ROM of it lying in a warehouse a month ago, and I didn't know better, I'd actually believe you.
  5. If they let us do room blocks I'll set one up, but room blocks didn't become a thing until we moved to the Gaylord, so who knows.
  6. So this game got some discussion in the Kickstarter Central thread, but it's been out six days and there's not much discussion on it here, which is weird cause I know for a fact a ton of us are playing it. Figured I might as well bite the bullet and start a thread myself. How's everyone enjoying it so far, for those who haven't beaten it? I've not had a lot of time to play it, so I've only beaten King Knight, Specter Knight, and Treasure Knight so far, but it's so much fun. Music's great too; Jake did a killer job. For those of you who have so far managed to avoid this so far, it's available on Steam and the Wii U and 3DS's eShops. Jake's got the album for sale on Bandcamp here, and an arrange album featuring a lot of familiar faces here.
  7. Zelda: Wind Waker was like this for me for a long time; I'd saved the game outside the entrance to the final dungeon and then just... got nervous? I dunno. I did eventually finish it off, though. And now another Zelda title suffers from this: Spirit Tracks. I loved the hell out of that game, but once I opened up the portal to the Dark World, I put it aside for what was only supposed to be a few days. Four and a half years later, I have yet to go back and beat it, mainly because with each passing day, I feel I'd have to start the whole game over to get back into the swing of it and remember how to play well enough that I'd be able to handle the final boss.
  8. I've never experienced a disconnect like that, but I do have to deal with the entire forum marking itself as read if I leave it open in a tab for too long (like, 30 minutes). I believe this is also a client-side issue in my browser, so I've never bothered to report it.
  9. FINE, FINE, YOU PLEEBS, WE'LL DO ONE THIS WEEK http://youtu.be/3RkOz14i2-A (just kidding, we love you all, plz tweet questions)
  10. Belated reply, but thanks everyone!
  11. A friend and I were up at DarkeSword's house this weekend and I got a chance to put some serious time in with this. Holy shit, this game is fun! The highlight reels are amazing, of course, but it's a very solid quality Mario Kart even past that. I didn't get a chance to play Star or Special Cup, but I enjoyed all the new courses in Mushroom and Flower, and some of the modern recreations of the old stages are devious.
  12. That was the worst pun ever, and I'd say you should be ashamed of yourself, but I'm disappointed I didn't think of it first.
  13. LIVE.... STRIKES BACK! Tuesday show this week because we're all gonna be at MomoCon this Friday.
  14. Oh c'mon, you can't do an EP like this and not use the overused, played out "GOOOL" as the album title.
  15. You all keep talking about losing it at Super Mario 64, but I'd already fell out of my chair in laughter at EGG-GROW just 6 seconds in. What kind of weird ass fortitude do YOU all have?!?!
  16. Due to the somewhat shoddy translation, that's one spoiler that a lot of people never actually even realized was the case (at least in terms of who was really controlling who), and some still don't to this day. I wouldn't have had any idea if I hadn't read the FFVII Ultimania years later and stumbled onto it there.
  17. - They covered something pretty familiar, it turns out.
  18. I'll be there! Half because it's nice to see a version of the GSO that people not attending UMD can potentially join, and half because one of my coworkers at Nat Geo is part of your group and she'll roast me alive if I don't attend her first performance.
  19. You say that like I'm not already dealing with hype overflow. HNNNGGGGHHH.
  20. Oh wow, this is pure sexy goodness. Definitely putting this group on my radar from here on out.
  21. Friday, May 23 to Sunday, May 25 Hilton Atlanta, Altanta, GA http://momocon.com We're heading out to the Peach State! Larry claims it's awesome, but we won't believe him until after we visit for ourselves. PANEL! OC ReMix: Video Game Music Community of Multi-Faceted Awesomeness Ring 3, Salon D/E Saturday, May 24th, 1PM Panelists: Liontamer DarkeSword Bahamut Arrow
