Sup everyone! Super happy to announce that my Kickstarter-doublefunded anime soundtrack album, "Beyond Libra", has been released AND we're having a listening party tonight!!
For those unfamiliar, this was an album of original music I wrote over the last 8 years, with lots of stylistic references to composers such as Yoko Kanno, Jo Hisaishi, and Yasunori Mitsuda. I collaborated with several OCR artists on this one, including Jeff Ball, DrumUltima, Jillian "Pixietricks" Aversa, Sixto, Finbeard, Harmony, Audiofidelity, XPRTNovice, Shrack, Snappleman, and Jose the Bronx Rican. We also had three different live choirs (The Philadelphia Boys Choir, The Yale Slavic Chorus, and a Nigerian vocal ensemble) and live orchestra, along with artwork by Keiiii and Star Wars artist Stephen Chang, so it was a gargantuan production across three continents.
Kickstarter backers who opted for the digital release should have already received their copy via an emailed bandcamp code; Physical copies will be mailed off later today and tomorrow. The album is available at https://rogetmusic.bandcamp.com/album/beyond-libra for the full release with all our gorgeous disc art, and it'll be available on iTunes, Spotify, and several others soon as well.

I'm still here, and still interested, but life had been crazy for me over the last year, and I never had time to even start on my track.
Life is still hectic for me right now in a sense, but significantly less so; it's only bad when I'm at work, and I'm almost always able to get all my work done AT work and not have to give up hours at home.  So basically, I do have time to focus on this now.
That said, I'm still a low-skill musician here, at least in a production sense, so if we're aiming for OCRA now, I'm absolutely going to need help, whether that's an outright collab or just a lot of people giving me advice.

It wouldn't infringe on your "copyrights" but would infringe on the publisher of the original composition, so for everything to be above-board you would need to license the composition from the original publisher. OCR releases the remixes for free in a non-exclusive way, for use in media that is not monetized. To monetize a remix as part of a product (either by OCR or by another entity) without appropriately licensing the material, would infringe on the publisher's rights and they would be entitled to take action against the product. So in short OCR doesn't do it, and you probably shouldn't either, without licensing. 
Ask that dev if they'll cover the licensing fee in addition to giving you your payment (not take it from your cut). But if they're trying to get remixes of existing music over twitter that they can just use in their game, they're probably not being too ethical about it. Tho it's not for me to judge.

Annie is a friend of mine that I met at ConnectiCon a few years ago. I was there for OC ReMix and she was our table neighbor, promoting her webcomic, Ode. While planning the Kickstarter campaign for 1001 Knights, she put out a call for a musician to do trailer music. I volunteered, and was immediately impressed with the incredible artwork being produced for the anthology.
Annie asked me to put together a piece of music that felt mysterious and important, with fantasy and fairy tale overtones. I wrote a piece called "Gather Your Courage," which would serve as the main theme of the 1001 Knights project. Annie, Kevin, and I were all pretty happy with this piece for the Kickstarter trailer, and everything seemed set.
I loved what I'd written in "Gather Your Courage" so much that I felt like experimenting on my own. I decided to arrange my own piece in 6/8 time, and ended up writing this piece, "The Winter March," a heavier, more militaristic arrangement. I sent it over to Annie and Kevin, and they loved it so much that, eventually, we decided to use it for the trailer instead.
"Gather Your Courage" is still the main theme of the 1001 Knights project, and I'll be posting it in the coming weeks. I'm also planning on releasing a small EP for purchase including these two tracks (along with a few more original pieces), which is why this track is streaming-only.

Welcome to the Album Thread for Final Fantasy VIII: Collision Course.

The concept for this album stretches back to 2010 where a tracklisting and title were chosen for what one would have
dreamed would be a great Final Fantasy VIII album. With your help, I'm hoping to make that a reality. Right now is the
recruitment phase, so if you are a posted ReMixer, feel free to make a claim -- first come, first served on any source.
If you are not a posted ReMixer, you are still welcome to join the album roster if you can produce high quality mixes, or
are capable of producing a high quality arrangement and structure, then delivering your stems for mixing/mastering.
Please submit an audition. Mixing/Mastering would be handled by me for anyone who requests it.
There is no genre restriction, however please give much consideration to preserving the spirit of the source.

These two little figures (not the coffee cup which was bought at a past London Gaming Con) came through the mail today, and they look so adorable!  And I was worried that with the lead up to the holiday, the OCR SS would be another delayed asset on top of everything else that had happened in the run-up to this event.
Still, I am thankful they both came!  Once I do some winter cleaning they'll have a nice, chilled home in my room.
I had a look at the gift notes from the package and it also said something about download codes for some of their music.  If they're anywhere, they weren't in the box; wonder if they ended up somewhere that I hadn't looked yet.
Considering what the SS set out to do, I have a feeling there may be more that had gone under my radar, but we'll see. Nevertheless, thanks so much Garpocalypse!
