  1. Never heard the original, in fact I've never heard of the game either.. But when something is called "Super Hang-On" I approve it. And I also approve this remix! Excellent and oh, so nostalgic vibe. This is the kind of stuff that in my opinion really embodies the true feel of retro videogames. 80´s heavy metal with synthesizers and big landscapes. Well executed. Thank you. I almost got a Super Hang-Over after listening to this.
  2. Discotheque? - check Samurai? - check This song truly has discotheque, but it maybe needs just a little bit more samurai. OK, seriously though, I like it. Groovy, tasty, and yes, samurai, all wrapped up in a tight discosuit. Thanks!
  3. Darn... I really should see this movie. Always wanted to. Just the kind of stuff my twisted mind finds totally AWESOME. Well, maybe some day.. In other news: NEVER!
  4. Really good game, well made and fun to play. Even the story is great and keeps thing interesting. I'm definitely gonna play it some more later.., Back to the old-skool... Oh yeah. Nice that some people are ambitious enough to do something like this, even though it might take A LOT of effort. GOOD JOB.
  5. Ahhh damn guys. EPIC. You simply cannot be affected by the pure energy that drives this mix. At first I was maybe a bit alienated by the electronic, almost techno(ish) feel of the song but as it truly kicked in I was just completely blown away by the energy and vibe of it all. LOTS of stuff going on in there but it all adds up to one beautiful arrangement. Excellent. Thanks!
  6. Yay, all hail Impulse Tracker! I must admit that after the first few moments of this song I thought it's not exactly my cup of tea. To some extent that might still be true but there's still something quite interesting in there. The overall vibe is really authentic - the sounds really make me think the old NES and C64 games with soundtracks and chiptunesounds we all love. I also like the fact that, as mentioned in the official write-up, the sounds are dry and very minimal, and still manage to carry the song and create a really interesting mood and overall soundscape. The fact that its made with Impulse Tracker makes it all sweeter and is maybe one of the main factors in making this so authentic and retro. Aye, good 'ol IT. Back in the day I wouldn't touch any other software. Later I sold my soul to the endless possibilities of todays digital musicmaking tools. Sad. Anyway, thanks!
  7. Actually there are two remixes already on OCR. http://www.ocremix.org/game/command-and-conquer-red-alert-win/ But yeah, all this RA3 advertising makes me want to dig out the original CD's and play this game. I still love it. And yes, the soundtrack is truly memorable, gotta love Hell March. I also love the fact that you can change songs any time you want to. "Ok, I'm going in for an attack. What should I play to get in the mood? Oh, yeah..." (And the stomping of the marching feet begins...)
  8. I just had to check it out on Youtube. And hell yeah! The funk never stops. Would be an awesome idea to make a Chex remix project thats like a NICE version of the Doom remix projects. Thats exactly what Chex did with Doom - it made it nice so EVERYONE CAN PLAY! So yeah, would be great to have a super NICE remix project, kinda Doom remix project spinoff.. YEAH - never gonna happen. Still, great stuff..
  9. - Spoilers coming (DUH) - Watched it - loved it. The only thing bugging me just a bit was the whole "cell phones turn stuff to 3D-imagery so Morgan Freeman can just point out the bad guys and get all Tom Clancy on y'all.." thing. I think it was just stupid. But yeah, just a minor gripe and not something that would affect the plot too much. I had really high expectations and I got what I wanted. The Joker was even better than I expected. That's the way I like to see Joker - I think Nicholson's version is just too nice of a guy. Now we got knives and all that serial-killer jazz going on.. Yay! A cool moment at the theatre was with the Batman-copycat hostage video. At first everybody laughed because "that Joker guy is so silly and funny". Then Joker screamed "SAY IT!" or something in a truly maniacal and serious tone and the theatre went silent. Just goes to compliment Heath Ledger's portrayal - yes, he can be funny but at the same time immensely distrubing and scary. Oh yeah, thats the stuff. - Thus end the spoilers, but if you don't want spoilers what are you doing in this thread in the first place? - Also, I really laughed at this: Good job.
  10. Rock on! I had this game back in the good 'ol SNES era. I haven't played it since so I don't remember much. Still when I listen to this the game just jumps at me with all its action-packed glory and killer soundtrack. My favorite thing to do was throwing the enemies at the camera. That was so cool. It can't get any more Turtles than this song. The sounds are awesome and the drive is fan-freaking-tastic! Yeah.. I'm in a shellshock. Cowabunga dudes, and all that jazz... Thanks!
  11. Wow, good job. The violin is amazing. I'm not a big fan of the drumsounds here, and I think the drumprogramming is a bit lifeless, but once the mix gets going it doesn't bother me anymore. So all in all great stuff. And once again, the violin really packs a huge impact. Dramatic. Oh yeah, and it's YOUR MOM DUDE! Awesome!
  12. A while ago I realised that I don't have the slightest recollection of what my songs on this project sound like. It's been a really long time since I completed them. A year, easily.. Two years? Well, maybe not quite but close. I promised myself the next time I'll hear those songs is when I download them from the projects site. Which, of course would be the case anyway because I think I don't have the projectfiles or finished mp3's anymore. So I'm really looking forward to hearing what I, and of course the other remixers have created for this. Hope I don't have to be ashamed of my work. I'm quite sure its not up to par with my (so called) skills today... Well, maybe I'll live. And I don't mean to diss this project or TO in ANY WAY, I know these things take forever to finish, especially over the internet. This was just a thought that came in to my mind while reading (and listening, nice tune there..) the other posts. But yeah, waiting patiently and eagerly. SOON my friends... SOON.
  13. Wow. This kicks ass! The titlesong for Megaman 3 has always been somewhat an emotional piece, and this really compliments that and takes it up a notch. Well, 10000 notches. The production is supersolid and I love the "flying over mountains and high fiving God" athmosphere. The drums are just loud and punchy enough to keep this one BIG and going. This is how I see Megaman music in general - bigger than life with a twist of heavy metal. Thank you.
  14. Yeah, it looks super REGULAR and mediocre. Which is something one wouldn't expect from DNF after all these years. But we'll wait (another 12 years) and see.
  15. Bass for eleven years. Learned guitar somewhere in the midst of all the bassplaying. But maybe 8 years or so on guitar. And maybe about 5 years of keyboards, but irregularly. I'm learning keyboarding slowly but steadily. Then theres some random percussions and stuff. I always love to try new instruments. Somehow it always takes you step closer to ULTIMATE MUSICAL VICTORY.
  16. Oh crap.. great stuff. Excellent production. I especially love the overall soundscape. Moody and awesome. And killer percussion. Oh yeah... SO-LID. Thanks a lot.
  17. Started playing bass when I was 13. Thats like... eleven years ago. Few years after grabbing the bass I started to make music. Bass is still the main instrument but I've picked up some others along the way to help with the musicmaking; guitar and keyboards basically. Completely selftaught, never even considered takig lessons. I can't read sheet music and I REALLY dislike tabulatures. I play something every day. And it just keeps getting more enjoyable year after year. Oh yeah..
  18. Gyllenhaal, AARGH... What next - Mila Kunis as Mona Sax? Oh, wait...
  19. Ahhh, laid back. My first thought when I listened to this was that its a perfect backgroundtrack for opening credits in some cool movie. And I mean this in a VERY GOOD way. This would totally steal the show from the credits in terms of setting up the mood, but I think some really cool visual material would compliment this track in a beautiful way. As we have no cool opening credits, the track truly stands on its own too. I still think of its as "background music", but thats not a bad thing in any way. Some tracks are just meant to roll on the background, setting the mood. And this one does it in a great way. There's also some really interesting sounds that add up to a beautiful scenery. The whole song is kind of a journey - and definitely not the "trippy" kind. Sometimes its just nice to lay back and enjoy. And for that, this is just the right stuff.
  20. Bwahahah... theres something really appealing in a trailer that simply shows different, creative ways to brutally annihilate your enemies. Game might suck though, but the key elements are totally THERE. *CRUNCH*
  21. Yeah, he was truly awesome, even as the narrator (and the magician) in Conan the Barbarian movies. And he reminded me of one of my all time favorites - Burt Kwouk. The name hardly says anything, but he played Cato Fong in the Pink Panther movies. To me, those surprise attacks are probably the most hilarious scenes in movie history. But yeah, he was also the narrator in the series "Banzai". Best voice ever.
