  1. Wow, that preview sounds gorgeous. Can't wait to grab it when it comes out!
  2. Good to know. Is there a story behind this? What would you recommend instead? (My credit card has a fairly low limit, so I'd rather not have to use it if at all possible.)
  3. As a posted ReMixer and resident Workshop Moderator, I'm going to go ahead and sign up as a star for the pilot here (although I may or may not stick around, depending on my schedule). On OCRemix, I've primarily been characterized by aggressive electronica renditions of games I've never played, but if you take a look at my Soundcloud page, you'll find that I can literally do almost any genre around, within reason and with the right instrumentalists around me. I've chosen the name "Flexstyle" on purpose. I don't usually play live instruments, as I play guitar very very badly and don't own a drum kit right now, and my keyboard skills are merely passable. However, I'm a longtime production enthusiast with quite a bit of formal training as well as real-world studio and live-sound experience in that arena, and I'm told I do well at explaining my knowledge to other people. My current tools are FL Studio 10 Signature Edition, a few extra Image-Line synthesizers, EWQLSO Platinum Plus, the Shreddage soundfont version, and loads and loads of freeware and "magazineware" samples and VST plugins. There are a couple other bits and pieces of software I own that I haven't listed here, too. Oh, and I can do advanced pitch correction and modification for any monophonic vocals, with Image-Line Newtone and Celemony Melodyne 1.8. Anyone who wishes to work with me will absolutely need FL Studio 10 (Producer edition or higher), but anything beyond that is basically negotiable. All my contact information should be on my forum profile.
  4. I did it for three weeks, heh. Since I've already put in two extensions besides this one, I didn't want to make the last extension too excessive.
  5. Hush, you, the plebeians are supposed to think that the judges are like the Olympic gods of yore when it comes to music.
  6. That's the point--I'd be using the SFZ version as a placeholder until I was actually able to afford Komplete 8 (and therefore Kontakt). Such is the life of a man with very little money....
  7. I haven't gotten Kontakt yet, but I'm hoping to find room in my budget for Komplete 8 yet this summer. If I were to buy the Kontakt version of Shreddage, would I also be able to access the SFZ version as well?
  8. Probably going to fly out, since I too will be attending ASU (and therefore classes will start immediately for me, as well). I'm really hoping to have a lower amount of people in the hotel room, as I just know that at some point during the con my introversion will kick in hardcore and I'll need to huddle in a quiet corner with a book for an afternoon. I'm okay with paying a bit extra, personally, if I need to. EDIT: Also, I'll be down for playing keys and/or drumming in the jam space. Bringing my laptop and keyboard, most likely.
  9. Man, this project is on a freakin' rocketship of a pace, compared to some other OCR projects. Also, as someone who has quite possibly put the most effort into this project aside from Emunator and a couple other people, please believe my sincerity when I say this: This project will come out on the day that it does, and it will not be a day late or early. Until then, just hang tight, and shut up if you're here to complain. Hype welcome, complaints not.
  10. Nah, it's not so much that as it's just the same as any other piece of recorded music. Right now, federal law prevents the unauthorized distribution of copyrighted works, and posting a zip of a game soundtrack, even if there's no "official" album, is definitely unauthorized distribution of copyrighted works. The music is certainly under copyright law, even though the initial distribution media is a bit different.
  11. Technically, I don't think that link follows forum rules, as that could be construed as piracy. As much as I'd like to have the soundtrack in such a nice little package, I don't know if the mods will want to leave the link up.
  12. I'd definitely be interested in a compo of this nature. Whether or not I have time will have to be determined closer to the start of the thing, but hey.
  13. This. I know I did release a track through my podcast, but (a) it was a bonus track, rather than a "true" album track, and ( I ran the idea past Emu before I did it.
  14. Righto, guys. New deadline is July 14 at 11:59 PM Pacific Standard Time. I wanna hear some truly epic remixes outta y'all!
  15. Definitely extending another week--running a comment poll on http://www.facebook.com/flexstylemusic as to whether I should extend for another three weeks total. Wanna enter? Vote!
  16. Well, I'm going on vacation for the next week or so (starting on Sunday), so I'm really not going to have time to judge everything. What say I extend for one more week?
  17. Enchanted Riverbank is now completely, totally, one hundred percent done. And Emu has a wav of it. Good freakin' riddance.
  18. I've had several entries, but none within the last, oh, 3 weeks or so. I'm also kinda hoping to raise the current bar in terms of remix quality, as I've got a couple good entries but most are rather forgettable.
  19. One last bump before the contest deadline hits in two days. Anyone interested?
  20. Haha, yeah, I've got stuff that was accepted over a year ago that hasn't hit yet. It's a long game of "hurry up and wait" when it comes to mixposts. It'll happen eventually.
  21. Dude, I just noticed you won the FF6 compo! Fantastic work!

  22. Indeed, you're welcome to do so. I do find that whenever a mod has already reviewed a track, though, that it has lower priority in the eyes of other mods. Just personal observation. Once you've gotten a couple more opinions, I'd recommend setting it to "finished," if possible.
  23. <MODREVIEW> Well, I must say, this is quite a pleasant listen. I do indeed like the way you've gotten CVPiano to sound (can be difficult sometimes, I agree), and the arrangement flows very nicely. There's a rogue timing issue at about 0:20-ish; you'll hear it if you listen, I think. I will agree with the comments about repetitiveness in the section between about 2:00 and 2:30. My remedy would be to spruce up the piano part, do a bit more arranging with the source in that section. Put some flourishes in there, so that we know this isn't just copy-pasted from earlier in the song. Judges tend to dislike repetitiveness quite a lot. Overall, the piano playing is perhaps a bit rigid, although I'm not sure how much luck you'll have with that issue with CVP. Some of the timings are still just a bit too locked into the piano roll, if that makes sense, and I'd tweak the velocities a bit too. Put a bit more emotion in there if possible. I have no quibbles with the mix, at all, as it does a lovely job of avoiding distractions from the arrangement. Overall, it's quite nice, but I'd fix just a couple minor things before I submitted it, if I were you. </MODREVIEW>
