Zero Punctuation (Hilarious) Game Reviews
JCvgluvr replied to sephfire's topic in General Discussion
Oh, yeah. I've seen this guy. What he says seems to make sense, but my gamestop employee experience was quite a bit more positive than what happened to him. Well, in other (on-topic) news: Too Human EDIT: You know, his Christianity rant felt rather unnecessary to me. Little does he know that there are perfectly logical reasons that God lets good people prosper and bad people suffer, and vice versa. The short answer: HE'S GOD, and He can do whatever He likes, being that he's perfect and knows everything. I suppose getting worked up about Yahtzee is rather pointless tho, since that's his goal, no doubt. The rest of the review was pretty good, and fairly enjoyable. -
It's the gamecube game, but with wii controls. I'm staying far away from it, and so should you. (Yes, I know I'm generalizing.)

I could not force myself to play thru this game a second time. I beat it and thoroughly enjoyed it my first time thru. But the second time...completely tedious. I stopped after the Emperor's Stomach.

Eh, I think the Sonic vid is better.

The Genesis is the only thing that caught me. So this entire topic is "meh" to me.

Is there any way we can convince game developers that this type of replay value is undesirable? We keep groaning on here, yet they keep doing the same thing in RPGs, collection-heavy platformers, and every other type of game every year! What are we gonna do? I'm sick of it! >_<

I'm refusing to go out of my way to collect those things, and ^that's why.

Did Titanic make all it's money with rereleases?

If you want to be friends with Atma, you've gotta troll everybody else. That's how Bleck became friends with him. And now I wait for my imminent doom from Atma and Bleck, knowing I provoked it with the truths I tell. On topic: Except for the slower, trippier fighting system, every objective poster knows Brawl is better than Melee.

Jam recommends Lucario? Does anybody else think that's ridiculous, or am I just plain ignorant?
-
I'd suspect that it's only cpus who can do that. Knowing how cheap they can get...

Eh, after 3 weeks or more of not playing Brawl, my friend coaxed me into a session. I still raped him with MK and had tons-o-fun. Brawl's still got it. I'm just not going to play SSE or anything for a long, long time (intense frightens me).

Good song, great combos.

I'm in Emmaus Bible College in Dubuque, IA. Different subject material, same avalanche of work.

Ha ha ha NO! I hope Nolan has better sense than that.

Zero Punctuation (Hilarious) Game Reviews

This week's latest review: Eve Online I don't have much to say about this one, so I'll just post it and go. -
I completely agree. For another example, see: Mushroom Kingdom Fusion.
-
Why do you say that? We've already discussed how button mashing won't help you win. There are many techniques, as well as many counters to those techniques. There's also more depth in the fighting system then I care to elaborate upon at the moment. What's your current gripe about it?

Okay, my friend bought this over the weekend, and me, him, and my other two friends spent 3 great hours playing this game. I'm definitely gonna get it. I just have to get MM9 first. And Kirby Superstars DS. And Mega Man 2. And Super Mario RPG. And rent The Force Unleashed. And... Looks like I'm gonna be a while...

Hehe, I'm sorry you live in a country that rips you off regularly. Perhaps if you and every australian gamer boycotted videogame purchases for a year, game companies would listen and make prices more reasonable for you? Yeah, that's realistic... -

Personally, for me, I don't view it as an outrage. If anything, it's a slight peeve to me. But, it's a peeve because the lack of content doesn't warrent the price. In less than 10 hours, my $15 bucks is completely used up. BC and Castle Crashers provide much more content at the same, or less expense. PoP's time powers were for more than just erasing a death, BTW (I forgot who brought this up). -
I'm really thinking about this one. But BC:R took my Microsoft points, so I'd have to buy even more. It all depends on whether I can get into this type of game (which I usually can't).

You think speed runs provide more replayablility than more than 50 challenge rooms, secret challenge rooms, hidden objects in every single level, co-op, and multiplayer? You're not looking at this objectively, are you? BC clearly provideds more bang for less buck. Braid's doing something new? I think a certain persian prince used those time powers before. And I've seen puzzles in games before. They're called, "puzzle games." Crazy, isn't it? If developers think we don't care about being overcharged $5, it'll be $10 next, and so on and so forth until the regular addition of Halo 4 costs $100 (slight exageration, I know). -

It's ridiculous when the game in question is quite short and simple. Look at Bionic Commando: Rearmed as a counter-point. For 400 less points, I can get a game with better graphics, more replay value (difficulty levels, challenge rooms), multiplayer, leaderboards, and more carnal appeal. Wouldn't you say that list embarrasses smaller games like Braid?
