Explain to me this "high definition television"
JCvgluvr replied to Nekofrog's topic in General Discussion
Actually, you're probably right. I was being somewhat satirical in that post, so what you're saying is most likely true. But I still have a hard time telling the difference. LOL, I know what that's like. -
Explain to me this "high definition television"

Stick it to the man! (Even if the man is a old woman.) -
If anything is going to make a difference, it's definitely multiplayer with friends. (It's even better if they have competent FPS skills.)

Hmm, it's good both ways: Short game=high replay value Long game=fantastic first experience Now, if you add up all the replays of the short game, do they add up to the same amount of hours spent in one playthru of the long game? You decide. Attention: The following was a generalization, and should not be taken as 100% fact.

Explain to me this "high definition television"

FACT:The only good reason to get an HD tv is to read Capcom's and Rare's in-game text. There is no good reason to get Blu-ray...No really, there isn't a big difference between it and standard. -
Now this idea, I really like! Make it so Nintendo (lol, like they'd ever do something that cool)!

Fair enough. I too wouldn't want too many power-ups in a game. But I also couldn't support the removal of, say, the Ice Beam, or the Speed Booster, or the Space Jump, or the Super Missile, or anything else that added to the overall gaming experience. That's what I was trying to get at.

I'm really not interested in another protagonist with another set of witty one liners who utilizes another amazing doohicky giving him special abilities, tasked with saving another kingdom from another thousand years of darkness. And no death=no skill. That's why I beat Prey in one go and never touched it again.

The idea of metroid games is the sense of loneliness you feel, exploring an alien world all alone, remember?

Sarcastic post was sarcastic. Virtual Sarcasm is such a difficult beast to tame...
-
Please elaborate. Why do you disagree?
-
Well gee guys, do ya think Rush is gonna be in this game? You never know, he might not of made the transition...
-
I personally wouldn't remove any of the previous power-ups, I'd just add more. Getting rid of something that worked perfectly in a past game just seems like regression to me. *coughBRAWLcough*

I can't wait for this. The Intro was awesome, and the full game is going to be fantastic! I loved MM7-8 bit, so this is definitely going to be just as great.

Just beat this game on wednesday. The very last scene in the ending where Nicole attacks Isaac scared the living daylights outta me!! It was probably the only part of the game that seemed truly terrifying to me! ! Did anybody else feel the same way? What are your theories regarding the ending? Also, new DLC has been announced, and it's as big a rip-off as possible... http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/18101/EA-Announces-Dead-Space-Premium-Upgrade-Packs/

I'm expecting what most are wanting and expecting: A sequel/continuation of Metroid Fusion. Why? 2-D is selling like hotcakes nowadays. What I'd like to see is beautiful graphics similar to Contra 4 and a sprawling world at least 1/3 bigger than Zero Mission's. And some new power-ups, gosh darn it!

I'll keep that in mind. I have 1 friend who's got a PS3, so if he gets it, I'll try it out.

Zero Punctuation (Hilarious) Game Reviews
JCvgluvr replied to sephfire's topic in General Discussion
Fair enough, but we're talking about a ship that clones babies like a vineyard grows grapes. It seems rather cold to me, which is one reason why the lack of furniture is believable. But don't see any reason to continue debating this. I think we both have good points. I didn't expect him to devote glowing praise to DS, just slightly less ****-flinging. We know he can pull that off, because of his Painkiller and OB review (Or at least the part about Portal). I thought that if almost every reviewer is giving glorious praise to DS's superb sound, Yahtzee could have afforded to give it a passing mention. But again, it doesn't really matter to me that much. It slightly disappoints me, as does the lack of humor, but that's about it. No biggie. -
LBP doesn't really get me psyched. Sure, it looks like a cute little diversion, but it hardly seems like a console seller. And this is coming from a guy who displays little-to-no creativity in games, so one of the game's biggest features doesn't quite appeal to me. At this rate, I doubt I'll ever feel the need to buy a PS3.

Zero Punctuation (Hilarious) Game Reviews

Furnishings?! You really expect a space vehicle designed to crack open planets to feature couches, armchairs, rugs, and the like? This isn't a resort or hotel...Almost everybody is supposed to work around the clock to to their dang job! Yes, the captains have their chairs, and yes, the hospital rooms have their cots on wheels. But that's all they should have on a spaceship. Why on earth would you think that a military ship needs creature comforts. Part of being in the military is denying yourself of such amenities. So, almost every reviewer expounds on the fantastic soundwork of this game, except for Yahtzee? I thought he could recognize excellence no matter how negative he's trying to be? I'll be darned if he could ignore every hiss, growl, clang, whisper, or splat in the game! It is a moderate oversight of his to have done so. -
Played the demo on 360, and it sold me. I'm definitely renting this sometime soon. I'm surprised that I didn't experience any nausea! Maybe a little vertigo, a little disorientation, but no nausea.

^ NO FRIGGEN WAY!!! L-O-FRICKING-L! GHWT is a complete joke. At best, I may give it a rent waaaay down the line...

Zero Punctuation (Hilarious) Game Reviews

Probably the least enjoyable review since Brawl. I'm sorry, but I completely disagree with most, if not all of his points. He underestimated some of the games' greatest strengths, or didn't even mention them at all (sound and immersion). Not only that, but it wasn't very funny. This is somewhat disappointing... -
Games & the Uncanny Valley: yet ANOTHER lecture by me
JCvgluvr replied to sephfire's topic in General Discussion
Always a pleasure to view your work. I wasn't able to wrap my head around this concept until now. It's much easier for me to understand. I suggest you refer to a certain nefarious character's advice: "If you're good at something, never do it for free." -
The game looks like it'll make a person nauseous. What do you think?
