  1. A guys gotta do what a guys gotta do. Then again, Gimgak IS offering OCR a reward of 200$ if he wins, so there is similar activity on this end, too. On that note, I vote. And rhyme.
  2. WOAH. I never thought THIS would happen. Remember that guy who stole all of OCR's/other artists music and claimed he was DjP/bLiNd/Rama/etc.? Newgrounds finally took his stuff down (Well, they took it down on his page, but the actual tracks are in a re-evaluation process right now). Only took them a few years to do it, but hey - better late then never.
  3. Yeah, pretty sick cover of the track. The rhythm guitars drown the leads a little bit, though - just sayin'. Otherwise, it's pretty awesome. Adding a solo to the middle probably wouldn't help get it onto OCR too much, though it would make the track more awesome - the fact that it's a verbatum cover of the original strikes the possibility of getting it posted; even with some wankery in there that wouldn't change a thing. Sorry, guys, this probably won't see the front page of OCR unless Andy wanted to pretty much start from scratch and rewrite it. That's not detracting anything from this cover - it's pretty awesome as it is.
  4. Gotta say I love this, bro. Chippy goodness tastes like chips... chocolaty, delicious chips. The phat beats layered on top of the chiptastic flavors really work well, and the textures that support them all are appropriate, subtle and perfect. Great mix, great posting.
  5. Alright, here are my thoughts on this one. Overall the mix is a whole lot better. The sound is pretty clean, and the sounds all come out nicely. I personally think that you could use a little spread on the bass to give the track a little more meat, but otherwise it sounds quite good. I think the production hurdle has been passed. The intonation... urgh. I know it probably bugs you by now, but it really needs to be more precise than this. Some moments the slides and dives work well in that style (like the slides at 0:14, for example), but other parts (like the higher note at 0:34 - you overshoot that one) you really need to hit the notes more precisely. Some sections are very off, as opposed to missed notes (like 1:33 - 1:39... nothing seems to hit in tune, in that passage) It bugs me because I could see this being passable otherwise, but it's a large enough issue where I can see this landing in the NO, RESUB section again easily. I can give you a more detailed post on the specific tone issues, if you'd like (time stamps + issues), though I'm a bit tired to go through in that much detail right now. It's a lot of little things that add up to a fair sized issue with the vocals. I have a feeling that's about the only thing that I can do to really help you with that.
  6. Yeah, you're right about that. Alright, well I just thought I'd give you the heads up, there.
  7. Why not ask someone to help you with the guitar sound? If you can't provide it on your own (one of the more difficult resources to find, if you're not a guitarist yourself), it's not a bad thing to find someone that can give you the guitar that you need.
  8. Gotta third this opinion. As DS already said, MMZ has an incredible story that anyone would do well to play through. Anyone mention Iji yet? Really well done narrative, well thought out story, immersive back story... and it's free. Check it out.
  9. Welcome to OCR. As ironic as it is, you actually take the term 'remix' in a more literal manner than everyone else on this site - you seem to actually re-mix all the songs together onto large compilations. While I respect that, let me add that for the most part that's not what people look for when they participate on this site; the term 'remix' is redefined to mean 'arrangement', more or less. Your videos, while being alright for what they are, don't quite mesh with this site's goals and directions, and thus will not get much attention on here. Personally, I'd suggest lurking around for a bit, reading up about this site and seeing if there's anything to your liking, and just take in what the site has to offer for a little bit. You'll get the feel for it, for sure, and hopefully enjoy what this place has to offer.
  10. Here we go! (great use of a voice clip, imho) Not sure about the Robotnik clip, though - it doesn't come out that well, so it's hard to really agree with that one. The timing is alright, but it gets drown before it finishes. I will agree that you either need another guitar sample, or find a real guitarist to help you out with the metulz, since that takes away from the rest of the mix, which is pretty sweet. The mix of timbres are really sweet - the deep bass, chippy textures, FM effects, solid leads, they all work well. The leads tend to get pushed into the background, though, so be sure to mix the front elements to the front in the mix. That's about all I can hear that bugs me with this mix. Make some fixes (the guitar, especially - it really sticks out like a sore thumb) and you should be able to see the front page with this one.
  11. Well I hope I don't disappoint, since it looks like I'm representing mah team, this round.
  12. Alright, another week, another Wily track. Are you up to it, or shall I take it down this time? I won't be able to get to it for a few days if I take it, since I'm still out of town.

  13. If I'm not mistaken, didn't Ecto say there was another version where he mixed the instruments better? We could be circling around something that he already is aware of. Just throwing that out there.
  14. I can get to this in a few days. Don't have anything to listen with right now, though.
  15. Boy, you need to get the Silver Surfer soundtrack. You do yourself a great disservice remaining in the dark on it.
  16. Touche. I think the project freeze is gone, but I don't think that one was one of the projects he had mounted.
  17. I'm afraid there is no mention of a FFVI album, as of yet. Whether or not that means there is no FFVI album in the works, who knows - as they've shown with Morse's albums and this recent Zelda album, it's a possibility - but OCR hasn't made any announcements of the sort, as of yet.
  18. Birthday. Have a happy one. Probably won't see this message until after your birthday has passed, but have a good birthday anyway!

  19. You still have one or two more remixes to submit for the compo, so be sure to knock us dead in the coming rounds.
  20. Alright, review for all the tracks time, awesome. Sting Operation: Sexy. I really like the style in this one - the snappy... fingers, the synth trumpet, the chiptune integration - it all clicks well with me. First one I listened to, and it ended up with my first place vote. Air Man in a G String: Don't worry, Will, I got the baroque reference in the title (though for some reason I missed the not-so-innocent reference until someone brought it to light, for some reason). Overall, it's very much signature Willrock in terms of arrangement and production - got that retro-synth going, and some clever transitions to boot. The production was a bit on the light side of the sound spectrum, imho, but that's more of a stylistic/aesthetic choice than anything else - nothing wrong with that. unto dust: Liked the mix of guitar & synths in this one - heavy and delicate all at once. The arrangement was pretty innovative in this mix (one of the more interesting arrangements, in my opinion). The guitar sounds a little like it's clipping when it chugs, but otherwise the production is pretty good on this one. I can't vote for you, though, so you don't get my vote . Running with Scissors: Neko on a bad day is most other people on a good day. A lot of filler in here (I'm hearing a lot of MM3 select your robot master theme, in particular), arrangement-wise, and it more-or-less presents everything in a slideshow 'Wily-then-Cutman' manner, but all of the stuff that is there is awesome. Some of the ways the themes are altered are pretty sweet (Cut Man, in particular), and the guitar work is awesome. I really liked this one, actually. Power Outage: Hmm... kind of a lose arrangement (in a rhythmic sense). Your voice isn't bad (a little off in one or two spots), but the dry recording doesn't mesh with the rest of the track at all. Reverb is a good thing for vocals, in at least some amount. The arrangement was a bit broken up, for my tastes, as well. Tripping Through: Awesome beat; was really feeling this one for a while. In the middle there, though, it starts tripping up on itself... a lot of dissonance that I'm not feeling, at all (like at 1:29, for example). This would've easily been a contender for any of my top three, but those spots that really grate against my ears really push this one down. Topsy Turvy: Love Top Man. Clever antecedent/consequent method of introducing the Wily theme in there, and awesome style choices overall. I thought you'd have a hard time with Top Man's theme, but you made it progress so damn naturally with the theme. Awesome, awesome work. Riding the Avalanche: Nice epic orchestral take on it. I think that it's a little light on it's feet, in the lower range, but it's admittedly difficult to get real deep sounds in orchestral arrangements like this. For what it is, I think it works wonderfully. Electric Sleep: Kept thinking the title was 'Electric Sheep' and was listening for Sheep Man's theme (which never appeared). This was a really chill, atmospheric arrangement that I loved. Unfortunately, though, the instrumentation really got to me - those high pitched synths really, really hurt my ears. I can't get through the whole thing, in fact. It's a shame, because I really like this one, otherwise. Solidity: Very phat beat's goin' here. I like Crystal Man's theme, and was looking forward to this. I feel that the beat could lay low every once in a while, though - after hearing four-to-the-floor for four minutes, my ears want to hear something else. Cool sound design choices otherwise, though. A great match, overall. I enjoyed all of this quite a bit.
  21. ... Not really catching onto this, myself. The purpose of this compo is to mix two themes together (one provided by oneself, one provided by Darkesword) in any way that you see fit. This isn't about making OCR submitable material, if that's not what you want to go for in a particular round, nor is it a necessity that it factors into one's vote. There is no 'purpose' outside of mixing the two themes together. Do I (along with most other people voting) agree that it's better to make a mix that is clever in the way that it incorporates the themes? Absolutely, and that reflects in the voting patterns that have arisen - but I'm afraid that I can't agree that it's the purpose of having the compo. All that being said, I should probably vote before I go AWOL for the rest of the week.
  22. Needless to say, Silver Surfer was underrated in this list. Otherwise I thought the top five pick was pretty damn good.
  23. Hyperduck Soundworks? Awesome, I'm glad to see you on board here Though this is considerably less metal than I'd expect, this is still pretty sweet. I like the celtic mood of this, and the mix of many themes that I've grown quite familiar with (and I've never even played WW - I'm just thinking of the traditional themes you've blended in here). Very tasteful remix. Can't wait to hear the rest of the album.
  24. This came out on the 14th anniversary of when I first played OoT. How appropriate. Life is good, sometimes.
