  1. Ahh hah... Well then, perhaps it should be tracked as such? What is the project like now, a zygote?
  2. Yeah, I know about the reverb thing (Palp made a good point about the consistency of it among the tracks, in particular). The J's let me know that a month or so ago, but I haven't had the time to work on it because of deadlines for two projects. Since I'm done with those, though, I'll likely get this one touched up again and sent through the system. It'd be a waste to watch this track go unheard because of a few tiny problems with the production. For the drums, though, what exactly do you mean by a 'build section'? Could you show me an example? Thanks for the suggestions - I'm going to get this track touched up before the end of the month, so they won't go to waste.
  3. Oh, Happy new years, everyone! Not to rush people, but let's see if we can get a few good remixes out of ORC to start the year, eh? Of course I'm not saying this because it's my track that's in there. Alrighty, can't wait to see what comes out of this!
  4. Mixed-choir, followed closely by piano. After that it's a tie between metal (heavy-guitar, woot) and electronica setups.
  5. I think this is a link to what they had (I downloaded it no more than a few days ago - I have no clue why the link broke ). http://www.sendspace.com/file/1r7wca Since I can't use it you can tell me if it's any good, eh? I'm still trying to ween myself from Reason .
  6. Well if you want to get started any time soon then this is for you (courtesy of Zircon) . Throwing that out there, just in case.
  7. I can't say if this package is GREAT 'cause I haven't personally used it, but someone on NG created a free choral VST that imitates vowels (which is more than many choral samples do, I've noticed). Check it out and tell me how it does for you .
  8. Well, you don't get better at making music by not participating. Sign up for the next one when it comes and have some fun. You never know where it'll take you .
  9. I'll mirror what was said about the sax. As said before, it could be very fitting, but there're two issues at play, here. First, the sample is not up to par, here. The second issue is simply that it occurs too late into the track, so it sounds rather arbitrary, at this point. If you want sax (and I'd say you should include that sexy, sexy sax) I'd highly recommend incorporating it early and often. It could very well be that missing piece to change a sexy groove into a full-fledged song with melodic development and such. That instrument would be the perfect choice for that sort of overlay. I will also second the suggestion that you get a live performer to do this. I think Xeon Odyssey would be willing to contribute his talent, if you want to know where to start looking. There are parts with some really heavy stereo separation. It might be just me, but I feel it's a little too strong. Tone it down a notch and I think it'll work great. That said, that's the only problems I hear. This is one hell of a tight piece you've got going, here, and I'm happy that I got to hear it . Great work!
  10. Oh my God, I just sat down to listen to as much of the album that I have access to, and it's fuckin'... wow. Especially listening to some of those unposted names (Washudoll, Devastus, I'm lookin' at you, here) as well as some of the more obvious picks (*cough*Sixtohalc*cough*) I can tell you that there are some EXTREMELY GOOD tracks on here. That's only the tracks that I can get a hold of on the WIP forums, too - I can only imagine what the rest of the album sounds like, here. I am eagerly awaiting what's coming, here. Sorry for gushing praise prematurely, but I am fucking excited about it.
  11. It always makes me happy as shit to hear vocoding and such in posted remixes. I just love it too damn much . Smooth and admittedly a bit too laid back arrangement-wise, imho, it nonetheless is a great final post on here, brought to us by none other than Zircon from none other than the OMGAWSM GRMRB. Considering Willrock and Zircon's track are probably just the first two of many track to be posted, and that GMRB is surely in the pipes when it comes to postable music, AND the MMX album will be finished and posted soon... well, just THINKING about 2011 is making me a very happy person. Hope to see y'all there!
  12. In some strange fashion, it makes me happy that Txai won, 'cause in a very unrealistic and roundabout way I feel that I would've won if that damn Txai wasn't in the way . Yeah, y'all laugh now, but in the GRMRB I'll be the one laughing, you'll see!
  13. Well hey, before the April drive I didn't donate 'cause I didn't think about it, so I'd say it's an improvement, eh?
  14. Happy birthday, Schwaltzvald! ... Actually, I just wanted an excuse for people to post really strange pictures, so let's all post something in honor of his birthday! Kirby wishes you the best, too!
  15. Well, not quite. More Cave Story isn't a bad thing, though, and it's always nice to hear the things people posted in the WIP forums going up to the front page. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside . I liked the blend of multiple Cave Story themes in this track, though (especially the haunting Cave Story theme sprinkled throughout). I feel the instruments could've been a bit more natural sounding; the strings and some of the winds seems to have too much delay on the attack too often, for my tastes. Ah well, it doesn't take away from the overall orchestral sound too much. I'm liking what you've got going here. Great way to end the year, for sure .
  16. Ah, an oldie, but a goldie, I'd say. I will work on it come next year and fix what the panel told me to - I can't let Lv99 down by letting this one be forgotten. Love your remix, though. Keep us posted on it .
  17. Mmm, the second level. Sexy - you've got some real groove going down here, and I like it. You took a track that was funky and upped the funk, bigtime. I like the direction you took, and I like the soundscape. Because of how awesome most of it is, though, there are a few instruments that just don't sound up to the par that you set, here. At about 1:30, for example, there's a square that just doesn't seem to fit into the track, too well. It's not a terrible synth, it just doesn't seem to work, for me. The keyboard synth at 2:00 sounds a bit low-fi for the track, so I'd recommend looking for something else. The track after 2:30 seems to get quite repetitive. I'm assuming that's what you mean by '42% finished', there, so I can't wait to see what you'll do with the track. I'm loving it quite a lot, here - it's even inspiring me to finish making the adjustments to my own BT+DD track that I've been meaning to make for months, lol.
  18. BT & DD... now THAT is a game that doesn't have enough remixing love, around here. Unfortunately, it's difficult to download the track from that webhost, for me, so I can't give any meaningful commentary, right now. I'll try again later, or you could use a more easily accessible host. I dunno, it could just be me. From the 12 seconds that I got, though, it's a good start... but then the D/L cut me off .
  19. Hefty, certainly, but not unexpected, either. Thank goodness for the fund-drive in April, eh? That certainly helps keep the site running at the capacity that it has for years, which is worth it, for me .
  20. Oh my. One of the better Christmas presents I've gotten this year . Kick the Ninja Gaiden's ass!
  21. I haven't downloaded it yet, but I can already tell that I love it. Seriously, no one should question chiptunage compiled by Shnabubula and any gang that he finds to join him. I'll confirm that I love it in a minute...
  22. I missed an opportunity to talk about a mad baller's birthday? Dammit, I hate being without internetz.
