The Newbie Introduction Thread: Come on in and say hello!
Gario replied to Mahaboo's topic in General Discussion
You're just fishing for people to read your newb's guide to mixing, aren't you, Rozo? He's right, though - be sure to really get involved, if you want to get into what people do here. Be proactive; there's too many people that post here that just don't get too much further than posting in here. -
I guess the lady at Bowser's Castle isn't really the princess, then?
-
Have a happy birthday, man. Hopefully people are finishing up their songs for the Dk3 project, to celebrate.
-
I will, I promise. I can't say no to a brother Reason user in arms.

Halo: Combat Evolved remake in the works.

Dude, I think that's a moot point, by now. I mean DS just burst a vessel there and bled his message on the screen. Alas, the damage surely has already been done. -
What a stupid cliche that FFIX thankfully broke with Zidane... unless they were going for a 'Hurricane' knockoff, or something, which would be stupid, and not surprising, knowing Squaresoft.
-
I think that's what he was going for, actually. All those systems are too new for me, but if I need to make a suggestions (the DS is the only thing I have, right now) I'm finding Bowser's Inside Story to be surprisingly awesome. You do need to work around the fact that it's Mario, though.

Don't worry - you can use the 'edit' field to fix that. Alright, that higher beep sound is not in tune with the track. Bring it down a halfstep, because it is really distracting. The synths are ok (they could use some beef, but they're alright for now). The drums could use more kick in the bass. The second section of the source is terribly off. Listen to the source and fix the notes, there - it's very, very off, and especially in conjunction with that beeping it's just very distracting. I hope that helps - good luck with it. Keep pushing and you might come up with a slow jam we can enjoy.

Go look it up in Gen Disc. ... and hell yeah, we've got Blast Hornet on board. All we need now is the Toxic Seahorse mix to be finished and I'd say everything I wanted to see finished that was claimed will be finished.
-
Oh yeah, I think I've got the boss track covered. I'll send the WIP to ya in a few hours, Fishy.
-
lol, same here - Gorefiend was my server. I stopped playing it some time ago, so sorry I couldn't come on and join ya, DS.

The only problem I have with it is that you were not here for the Economics in Gaming thread.

New episode. Go check it out. Playing like a Designer (Part 1) -
I've just now opened this thread for the first time since... well, it started. I didn't think I'd have time to take anything on for it, but now that I've cleared off most of my other project tracks I decided to see what was going down in here. Like Fishy said earlier, he wants to guarantee that the person will 'blow it out of the water', so it's not like I can just make a claim to it. I'll just send a huge WIP to him in a few days, if I decide to go through with it (I'm leaning toward it, right now).

Wait, Battle 2 is open? As in the boss track? I might have to shirk some responsibilities and try to get something done for that.

Diotrans! Birthday! Have an excellent one .

The beginning has an extremely steep difficulty curve, then after the middle the game is quite easy. It's one of the flaws of the DS version, unfortunately - inconsistent difficulty isn't a good thing.

Eat this, SEGA! I just about finished my PICO Sailor Moon S remix! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K_r0FmI2YTc (Check 3:08 for the longest version of the source... the sounds get in the way, but it's possible to piece it together throughout the video provided). ...No seriously, I did a remix of that song, and I'm sending it to LT in a few minutes. It's actually pretty damn good, TBH. It might not get the fast track, but it'll be posted sometime, I hope.

I played the game about a month ago, and I honestly have to say it's really good. The removal of the world map was an excellent choice in this game (that removed the most crushing elements of the original - the poor method of story progression), and the action RPG style compliments the original gameplay style very well. The characters, while overplayed a little bit in this version, stay true to the original, which made my day. The soundtrack is superb, incorporating tracks from the original and sequel and rearranging them for the superior DS sound. While the action RPG element was a nice addition, the designers slacked off on the puzzles. Many abilities are only used for a single area, and the puzzles that are there are far too simple. With character swapping there was potential for an engaging rich experience, but the lack of dungeon puzzles remove the need for this. The difficulty curve is a bit... erratic. Personally, I enjoyed the steep curve in the beginning (since the game gives the option to ease the curve via auto leveling), but then it levels out, which makes the rest of the game easy, by comparison. Overall, an enjoyable game in it's own right. It's comparably enjoyable to the original that it's based on, and had the potential to even surpass it, in my book, if those flaws were not present. Nonetheless, I'd say it was a worthy purchase. Oh, thanks for the necro - I wanted to comment on it for a little while now.

Y'know, I could see this working into a postable mix...
-
Quoted for emphasis. It's not necessarily the call-out that brings people forward to make a mix, it's partly the promise to fast-track and the request from one of the higher ups that drive people to step up to the challenge. Also, as pointed out earlier, this isn't something that can happen all the time, or else people will lose interest and stop altogether, even when the above conditions are met. Besides, I'm not done with the Pico track, dammit! Don't give me too much to do!!

A well wisher thread to the great Lord of Ellipses.

Aw shucks, I missed the boat, here. Happy birthday yesterday, bro. If you wear a hat today it'll make me feel like it's still your birthday so I won't feel late, so go wear a 350$ birthday hat, like this guy... -
Well, shit howdy, you're right. Nevermind, then, that doesn't do anyone any good.
