  1. Me too! *highfive* Cept the burning down house part. I actually don't remember what happened to mine.
  2. Every once in a while, usually on long car rides during the summer, my girlfriend and her cousin give me a painful reminder that it's very, very real.
  3. I haven't turned on the radio for a good decade or so. Stuff like this is the reason why.
  4. I look up a video of the source track on YouTube and play it by ear. Then, I make my remix. After learning the source by ear. Screw tabs. Haven't used those in years.
  5. Deus Ex HR Mirror's Edge TES Oblivion/Skyrim Batman: Arkham Asylum/Arkham City Tekken 6 Super Mario Galaxy Mass Effect 1 + 2 Unreal Tournament 3 Guild Wars Not sure if Sonic Generations qualifies, but its soundtrack is awesome.
  6. Muchos gracias, amigo. Version 6. Took your suggestions into account and added them to the changes. No Soundcloud for now because I'm really feelin' this track now that I did that stuff.
  7. This is a bit outdated and a lot of the links don't work, but there's still a lot of info in there that should answer your questions.
  8. 1. People have a lot of different reasons for subbing and sharing music on OCR. That's kind of a big question imo, and there really is no short answer to it. 2. Because I enjoy making music, remixing VGM being a part of that, and OCR is a community that (at least according to the mission statement) revolves around the "appreciation and promotion of video game music as an art form" through interpretive arrangements of video game music. It's the chance to be heard and be a part of something larger than myself that shares the same respect and love for VGM and chooses to tribute it in that way.
  9. Making excellent progress on my Prelude remix. It's turning out better than I hoped. I'm at roughly 50% now, but I'll hold out for a bit. I should be able to hand you a complete track within a couple of days or so, Prophecy.
  10. Ditto here. A lot of my remixes end up conservative. I think it's because I'm really used to doing covers.
  11. Keeping the vocal style worked for pretty much every One Winged Angel remix out there. I don't think it's that farfetched.
  12. Second page, noooooo! Well, it's been just over a week and no responses, so time for a bump. I have done a couple tweaks, but it's practically nothing, so I won't post such a minor update. I'm feeling a lot better about this one than Insulator and I'm ready to call it. Hoping to get this in by the end of the month so it'll end up on the judge's panel by 2015. Now to wait for a Mod to come in and tell me that I need to do a crapton of work on it before submitting it. Lay it on me!
  13. Well, since the song I wanted to do was actually claimed already even if he did say the wrong song (I know how that goes), I thought I wasn't gonna be interested in doing a track for the project. Then I got a sweet idea for metulizing The Prelude. Mark me down for that. Someone has to tackle Prelude, right?
  14. Boost them around 3KHz if you have the headroom, lower other instruments a bit around 3KHz if you don't. I find that works wonders for bringing out my leads.
  15. It's been a good year for me too. Met a few cool peeps, participated in a few cool things, fun times all around. I'm glad I gave the community a second chance.
  16. I did around 15 but didn't link them. Stupid me. XD
  17. Can you write solos, Aster? Let's say I sent you a bit of a song that I needed a sick solo on. Could you do that and send me a WAV of your guitar track back?
  18. I'm really liking the sound of this. Going back and forth between the chiptune-esque stuff and more modern-sounding synths never sounded so natural. Excellent debut track, and definitely looking forward to hearing more.
  19. Rockin' that mouse too. It may be marketed as an MMO mouse, but I stepped up my FPS game considerably with it. *highfive* It's also pretty accurate provided you're not using a dark surface.
  20. I'd honestly recommend Musician's Friend over any online music store tbh. They're pretty much amazing. Either of those guitars would be good picks, but I personally recommend the Omen 6. 24 frets compared to the Solo-6's 22, and the body would be a bit easier on a beginning guitarist imo.
