  1. The echolocation pings for the intro and ending really set the tone/place for this mix; they immediately tell the listener that this is in the solitary dark depths of the ocean. I like the lazy, laid back feel to it. Very good music to listen to while studying/reading. It's a cool mix and worth listening to.
  2. Can I get my forum name changed to 42? Thanks
  3. I can possibly do some writing. Does it matter if it's dystopic futuristic sci-fi or not? Also, just to toss out an idea, you've always started with a story and then added music and art, right? Have you ever started with music or art and then added the story and art/music?
  4. As of this post, there's only 1 seven left.
  5. I can see where people are coming from when they say that this mix is "thin". But I do think it's fairly appropriate and should be filed under life's little ironies. Whenever I hear this I see E. Honda wearing headphones in front of a turntable and being the mix-master. The mix though is minimalist, but it works. Definitely worth checking out.
  6. Reminds me of a bunch of warrior druids on psyching themselves for the hunt. You do not want to be on these guys' bad side. Deeply dark and darkly sinister; a very good Halloween anthem. A very good remix, but I wouldn't recommend downloading until late October.
  7. Funky, atmospheric, nicely slow, dark, cool, groovy, sinister, extremely vaguely Sandopolis from Sonic 3. Cool track and worth a download.
  8. The intro comes off too strong and fast paced. It's sort of hard to say something that hasn't really already been said. I do think that the melody is overshadowed by much of everything else that's going on. This isn't really one of my favorite remixes, but one can tell time and effort had been put into this. My recommendation is to just download and listen for yourself.
  9. Very beatbox worthy. It sort of reminds me of an underground boxing ring. Definitely quirky, urban, thumping-y. I could see this one day getting lyrics, but right now, it just doesn't really impress me.
  10. I'm not familiar with the game at all, but with a name like "Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom", I wouldn't really expect such a deep/dark remix. It's not as dark as say the Doom II remixes, but all things being relative, I'd say it's pretty dark/intense. Very quirky, and I'm not much of a fan of the echoing guitars. It's definitely a weird mix no matter how you size it up.
  11. I don't really care for this one. It's trying to combine classical with pop ballad, or something weird like that. The drums really pull this mix in an opposite direction than where it originally was heading. I think it would have been better without the drums. Also, the introduction and ending were lackluster at best. I guess it's an all right mix if you like that kind of style, but otherwise, not so much.
  12. Nice, smooth jazz. I definitely agree with what has been said about it being too short and being perfect background music. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you like jazz. Hahaha
  13. I don't really like how there isn't much of an intro or ending and how it just thrusts the listener into the mix or cuts off. Still, it's got a nice beat and energy. Unfortunately, there isn't really anything else too noteworthy to mention. Ultimately, it's just an o.k. mix.
  14. This mix goes places, interesting places, and takes it's time getting there. O.k., so the mix is 2 minutes long, but still, it doesn't rush itself. I like how the first have is very techno, then changes direction at 0:52, and then changes again at 1:13. Definitely worth a listen.
  15. This mix is strange and trance-y. Also electronic and precise. I like how the intro is repeated throughout the mix, but that's probably the only noteworthy thing about this mix. It nothing special; just an o.k. mix.
  16. very smooth very upbeat:-) very short Definitely a cool mix, though.
  17. No. Just no. The dinky piano plus those random beats and electric guitar equals not good. It would be so much greater if it just focused on the piano arrangement.
  18. I can tell that the sax quality is off, but I really like the piano in this mix and really wish it was featured more. imho, it's a little to fast for it to be a chill mix, but it definitely is in that direction. Ultimately a not bad mix; it's growing on me bit by bit.
  19. Really cool, really pulse pounding. I like how the intro sets up the rest of the mix; the energy is already there, and then they add the beat and melody before tying it all together. The breaks throughout the mix do similar things. They allow you to catch your breath, but they don't let you forget that it's going to start again at full force. I definitely like the the piano coming in at 3:12. Awesome mix.
  20. I am definitely sensing feelings of dire urgency and seriousness throughout this mix and not much else. The vocal samples at the end aren't really used to their fullest potential, and everything before that, well..., there isn't really anything noteworthy before the vocal samples. Ultimately, it's really too repetitive to be interesting.
  21. I love how the intro and ending is basically the background noise from an arcade. One word leaps to my mind: Funky. It is a little repetitive, but when factored into the grand scheme of things, it's doesn't matter that much. This is an awesome mix and a new favorite of mine.
  22. Normally Mega Man tunes are very melody driven, but this mix has everything all nicely smoothed out, not that its a bad thing. It's hard to not say something that hasn't really been said before, and I agree with what has been said, though. Peaceful, ambient, good music to listen to while reading/studying. This mix is almost standing at the top of a volcano that isn't erupting. One can feel the solitary calm coolness of being on top of a mountain but can also feel the energy, power, and heat underneath it all.
  23. I'm disappointed that this wasn't longer. The sitar-like sounds makes me feel like this was performed near the Taj-Mahal. The combination of a shoot 'em up theme with Indian musical vibes make for a real interesting mental image. I'm not ~that~ familiar with the source tune, but apparently, this mix is a little to close to it. Ultimately, I think its ok except for its length.
  24. Not bad, actually. It sounds like it came directly from a game. The fade at 0:56 is like changing levels/areas in the game. Highly reminiscent of late 80's/early 90's 16-bit game soundtracks and nicely energetic and fast paced. It's a very interesting track and definitely shoot 'em up worthy.
  25. The intro is slow and muted, very world weary. It doesn't really get started until 1:46. Usually I like Jazz, but this is a little too liberal for my tatses. It also changes too often; the mix is trying to too many things at once. It's O.K. but not really one of my favorites.
