  1. We're here now... dealer's room some of the time, should be playin' mixes in the gaming room the rest of the time. Our panel w/ Rey from Capcom is 2:30-3:30 on Saturday.
  2. Great concert, great to see everyone. FF6 full opera was definitely the highlight, though I did walk away with a new appreciation for FFXI's score.
  3. Huge, huge influence. This still hasn't really sunk in for me.
  4. Well, we actually do have reference links for artist profiles. Yours has your homepage as your Youtube channel, a 1st-party reference that contains your (very cool) "Incredible Singing Analoq" video, in which you appear fairly conclusively male. No, we haven't "checked" and don't want to, but it's not completely un-referenced, and you haven't denied it. We want to provide information on both mixers and composers and we want to provide as much of it as we can ascertain, with parity to what can (easily) be found on the Internet, and without the artist's ability to request that we call them "Britney Spears" and specify a birthdate of 10,000 BC because they feel like it. What specifically are you proposing our policy be, at this point, that jives with those goals? We do have the list of references, as mentioned above. It would be quite the nightmare to associate individual links with individual artist fields; but perhaps a freetext field for biographical information could accomodate such info.
  5. I'd prefer to stick with 4pm, since we do need to get back to the booth... if folks wanna arrive later, that's cool - it's not prime time so we'll ask for a table with some extra seating and hopefully that'll be groovy, and if folks show up late, no worries. I've updated the first post accordingly.
  6. Confirmed issue with forums in IE8 and seemingly all the time in IE7; the site that I modified the code from works fine in both, so I'm assuming there's a workaround that I just need to figure out.
  7. I'm still gonna be there, so y'all punks backing out can suck it We need to show up at 6PM to run our table in the lobby... I was planning on catching an early dinner/late lunch prior to that, preferably at tir na nog or houlihan's but I'll be flexible based on who shows up. I don't have a specific time frame in mind yet, but I guess that'll be the gathering spot. I'm bad at organizing meetups and Larry bailed last minute like the pansy-ass mofo we all know him to be, so do not expect organizational greatness and you will not be disappointed!
  8. Please try using it for a couple days before you draw conclusions; if there are rendering problems I do want to hear about that, but kneejerk reactions are never a good thing. Also, the larger menu items *are* links themselves.
  9. suspiciously personalized fortune cookie says: "Enjoy your fleeting youth while it lasts, for soon you will be old and gray, like djpretzel" Happy bday.
  10. Actually, I kinda like IE8. This is a big problem, thanks for bringing it to my attention. The author of the script in question just changed to a commercial license (lame) so I'll probably just look for a replacement of some kind.
  11. I suppose this is what happens when we sit on our asses too long; I do appreciate the sentiment & work involved, but we manage our own torrent releases and our tracker only tracks our own, internally managed torrents. I'm closing this thread... I'd prefer the torrent be removed, but whatever - I'll try and make sure we do our own 1000-1850 torrent this weekend.
  12. Maybe I'm missing something, but if people want to make music with absolutely no guidelines or restrictions, it seems like requiring that it be related to VGM at all in the first place would qualify as such a restriction. This isn't a file-hosting service, it's a site with a more specific point/focus. Once you set the initial basic rule of "has to be from a video game," you're already doing what po mentioned - restricting the scope. However, if you DON'T set that guideline, you're basically running a glorified file-hosting service, as I see it. Nothing wrong with that, but there's plenty of sites filling that role, and it has very little to do with what we're about. Furthermore, while I would agree that our submission standards do restrict the scope of what can be submitted (& accepted), I don't think they necessarily restrict creativity per se. That's like saying any poet who only worked in forms was inherently less creative than poets working in free verse. Amadeus, Bach, etc. must all have been severely restricted as well, since they too worked within formal structures. Granted, they're considered masters because they helped evolve those forms, and had a knack for knowing where they could bend and break the rules, but there was still structure. We too have structure. I feel that when we revised our standards, with the help of the community, we really did ensure that those standards were as unrestrictive as possible, to allow for quite a diverse spectrum of music that all qualifies as an "OC ReMix". I'm very proud of the document itself, and even more proud of the way artist after artist has managed to create badass, diverse, and continually evolving pieces of music that all magically somehow fit EASILY within its scope. That's what I think. Also, if the Mega Man 2, Faxanadu, and Rygar mixes we JUST posted don't reflect the radical departure and deviation artists can take creatively within our standards, I don't know what would...
  13. HD Remix. Seriously; probably woulda been the case even if we weren't involved.
