  1. A lighthearted, relaxing ballad with nice vocals. Reminds me of the beach, which is always a desirable thing.
  2. Such a moving and beautiful rendition of the source...I actually find myself singing this sometimes. Uh, not in public, of course.
  3. One of my favorite songs since the first time I heard it...the piano is absolutely gorgeous and the vocals are perfect.
  4. Love the ethnic flavor; other than that, I can't really pinpoint any particular reasons why I like this mix, just that djpretzel is that good.
  5. Another great piece from djpretzel. I've always been a fan of Eastern ethnic stuff, so this is total ear candy to me.
  6. If most of the ReMixes I like are the musical equivalent of tofu and potatoes with a side of veggies, with the occasional bowl of ice cream thrown in, this mix would probably be something akin to those crazy Japanese candies with the edible rice wrapper; not only is it good, but it's experimental, does things with the basic concept that you never would have thought of, and is just fun to listen to. I'm not trying to play webmaster's pet here, but djpretzel is one of my favorite contributors to this site, not just based on the obvious facts that he created and is in charge of it, but the stuff he submits is so musically innovative, like he tries new and different approaches to everything every time he sits down to create. It's very artistic and refreshing.
  7. I tend to enjoy arrangements that employ unusual juxtapositions of instruments, and the violin used here adds a unique flavor that really contributes to the creativity of the piece. Plus it sounds cool.
  8. Disco Dan is one of those ReMixers whose stuff I have a lot of on my playlist, and for good reason. I've always found this mix perfect for when I needed to write or draw a dramatic action scene or something like it.
  9. Most of Dhsu's stuff could put me to sleep if I let it, including this gem. If the other Mario Kart ReMixes on my playlist bring back memories of high-energy racing competitions between my sisters and I, this one reminds me of those times when I played by myself and just explored the courses, roaming around and staring in awe at the breathtaking vistas... ...Okay, so I didn't get out much as a kid. Great arrangement nonetheless.
  10. I don't think I've ever listened to a Dhsu production I didn't like, and of course this is no exception. Brooding, emotional, yet beautiful at the same time.
  11. Another masterpiece from Dhsu. This piece is as relaxing and meditative as a river or the sea.
  12. Dhsu is a piano master, no doubt about it. This piece starts out somewhat slow and ponderous, but it's the frantic, frenetic, and downright amazing stuff in the second half that really makes this arrangement shine.
  13. Like its predecessor, this is some of the most epic stuff on the entire site. It's absolutely stunning and moving and I would love to hear it performed live, it would just be the icing on an already-delicious cake.
  14. This. Arrangement. Is. Epic. I would love to see this performed by a full live orchestra plus a choir of substantial size. I think everyone in the audience would die from the awesomeness though.
  15. I love this mix because it doesn't scream "Christmas" at you--it's much more subdued, atmospheric, and reminds me more of some beautifully remote place where you can see the stars.
  16. Half of the reason I like this mix is because of the memories it brings back of playing Sonic 2 with my friends and neighbors--as children, we rarely had the coordination or skill to get past the first few zones, but the ridiculously neon, pseudo-three-dimensional bonus stages will always be a fond memory. The other half is because it's an awesome, cheery mix.
  17. A very cool, very fluid and dynamic mix. Well done.
  18. This game brings back many fond memories for me, and its music has probably been permanently ingrained in the grooves of my brain. This is an excellent mix that brings to mind racing through wintery scenes...perfect.
  19. Epic...marvelously epic. Makes great flying music, whether it's daydreaming of flying, drawing someone in flight, or just if you happen to be a one-winged angel with an iPod (although if that's the case, I have another video game track I can recommend to you).
  20. This is such a fun and innovative arrangement, and the fact that it's live just adds an extra level of panache. I could listen to this all year. Then again, I'm one of those crazy people who could listen to Christmas music all year anyway. So I suppose that's not saying much.
  21. Both the piano and guitar are excellent, this is a wonderful piece.
  22. People describe this mix as "creepy" and "disturbing", yet I can't feel any of that. It's haunting, yet in a beautiful way. It reminds me of "magnificent desolation", which was a phrase used to describe the surface of the Moon; actually, this piece is very atmospheric and does remind me of an otherworldly cosmic setting. Most excellent.
  23. Another beautiful and moving solo piano piece, excellent work.
  24. Sometimes, in my journeys on this site, I find arrangements that are perhaps the epitome, the pinnacle, the apex of the piece's original essence; what the track was trying to be, what it yearned for in the years it was trapped by the limitations of primitive sound programming. This is one of those arrangements. It takes everything I liked about the original track and turns it into a beautiful symphonic piece that could easily be used for a movie about adventure on the high seas, pirate-induced or otherwise. With minor tweaking, I would love to hear this performed by a live orchestra.
