  1. Nintendo listening to criticism and taking it into account? LOL.
  2. Dropping in to say that Spirit's Grave has been claimed by myself, and that Hangman Delta's sig for the project is pretty kick-ass. And please people, go to the project forum and contribute. Yes, this also goes out to all those of you who check out the thread, but aren't saying anything. We still love you
  3. I believed it would be best compared to an anime. There are episodes that focus on the story line, and then there are fillers. Fillers are generally... well... there to fill the series with unrelated pieces of story to make the series seem longer. I'd say most people don't like them, others do, so it really just comes down to preference. Trust me, I don't think a company would want a series that makes them so much money to end so quickly. Same applies to anime, hence the comparison. But that's just my take
  4. I would contribute, but I'm just too busy with album projects and mah schoolin' I do want to enter eventually though, perhaps next time. I will definitely be voting on this one though, fo sho.
  5. Yep, fixing that ride reaaaaaaaaally helped. I'd say that the lead at 2:25 sound much cleaner without all that clashing, so sorry for doubting your choice in synths I'd totally download it like it is now so... I say submit. You might want to make a couple more tweaks, but I think it's developed nicely.
  6. I'd say from what I'm hearing that this preview is better than Christmas in the sense of gift-giving.
  7. I say using the #ocrwip irc (haha, I love it) is one of the better options. Go ahead with the project forum idea, but it would be best for immediate feedback from good people. I know Taucer is usually always there and he's good at critques. I recommend checking it out at least once.
  8. Alright well, when I'm discussing the EQ, it's like this. Volumes of songs stay the same throughout a song right? Unless you change it with an automation or something of course. The EQ however is like a "smart" volume control that has to do with the individual pitch volumes of the instruments, not everything as a whole. Let's say you have two treble instruments that are playing at the same part in a song and they are clashing horribly together. One is lead, the other is perhaps backing strings. Typically, you'd want the lead to stand out more, so to solve this problem, tune the highs on the strings below the 0.0dB bar, and the highs on the lead above it. This way the lead will have clear dominance, and they won't be fighting over one another. But let's say that the strings are in a low pitch. You probably wouldn't have to tune that because the frequencies aren't fighting each other. Another example of this could be kicks and bass. Apply this to the lower frequencies if you want to hear your kicks over the bass. This is kinda what I was getting at with the piano and the strings in the song. Once again, it could be my crappy headphones, but it's always good to make sure. Sorry, didn't mean to lecture
  9. Man I feel like this will be unnecessary... Alright, well I just wanted to point out that "omnius" should be "omnia". Sorry, it's just I take Latin and those kind of mistakes bug me :/ Omni is a 4th declension neuter adjective, I believe, so the accusative form should be "omnia" since it's being used as substantive... If my Latin teacher knew, he'd hug me for this Oh as for the song itself, I really think some realistic key velocities would help make this piece. I'm really digging the arrangement of it though. Some EQ support between the the legato strings and piano would be nice; it seemed as if the piano kept overpowering the strings. Maybe little tambourine or some kind of percussion would be nice as well, but that's merely a suggestion of my own because I love percussion
  10. I almost forgot, the breathing noises, (supposedly Samus?) were a really nice touch before the big finish. Big Giant Circles should make the music for the next Metroid game, haha.
  11. Well I'm expecting something incredible now, so don't let me down
  12. Hooray for not listening to those who can't respect music as a creative art. By the way, may I ask who is singing (or rapping because there's nothing wrong with that) the vocals?
  13. Alright, here's the final version of Jazz is Undead. I finished all the fine tuning for lots of things, but it didn't change so much "meat"-wise, just in sound quality. Well I guess that makes at least two tracks officially completed . http://hylianlemon.googlepages.com/JazzisUndead.mp3
  14. I thought this was a very well-addressed topic. Until now, I hardly bothered to think about decisions / problems and how the create a base for a game. Now I'm probably going to be thinking about these things all the time I also like the humor style with the images and whatnot, it's my kind of humor
  15. This song is truly amazing. The ambiance, the percussion, the techno, the hard and subtle sounds, and clean transitions. They all fit so well together. I'll be listening to this one a lot, fo sho.
  16. Hmm, actually listening to it again, I think the problem might be the open hi-hat hits (or crashes, whatever they are) playing in the back ground while the lead plays. It almost sounds like there's just too much noise together. Fixing that might solve the problem, but if your looking for perhaps another lead suggestion, I would maybe try a poly synth? Perhaps some kind of woodwind synth. I would have to hear it myself, but that's just what I'm feeling.
  17. Okay here is another version of "Jazz is Undead". I went with a more electronic theme, taking what progressive said into account, so I just made everything synthy. I also just changed a couple other small bits and took the time to make the EQ relatively decent, plus I toned down the waves and wood creaks. Let us know which version you think is better. 18. Hopefully when some more critquing gets put into "Jazz is Undead" then I will go ahead and start with some edits because there are some things I still want to add / fix about it. Then will begin the long process of rendering yet again Please take the time to say stuff, people :/
  19. ELL OH ELL . Terribly funny, but somehow I doubt that was all random. Oh well.
  20. I think this is a pretty darn good piece you have hear. I definitely enjoy the "spy-like" theme you have going on, it's pretty classy. May I suggest that you try an electric drumset though? I don't have a good sample / vst myself, but perhaps someone else from OCR could help with that. I believe it needs a little bit a EQ tuning too along with some effects just to give it a bit more "spice". Subtle background percussion is also never a bad thing
  21. Pretty nice stuff. I really like the instruments except for that lead that comes in at 2:25. I'm probably just being picky, but I just seems annoying to my ear. Not sure if it's meant to be like that or if it's like a "telephony" effect, though I kind of have a beef with it. Just a suggestion though, don't mind me. Everything else is quite solid.
  22. Really, now? I could have sworn I heard the original melody, with just a bit of a lowering in tempo. Ah well, doesn't matter. Whatever song it is, it will be good.
  23. Haha, I feel so bad after hearing the preview. Hot-head Bop IS going to be rock-orchestrated. This has officially made my day
  24. Alright well I'll keep these things in mind. I kinda want to open a WIP for something else I've been working on, on the side, so maybe finishing that up will bring some motivation to my head. If you care at all it's a WIP of "Gaia Rock" from Golden Sun: The Lost Age Edit: I think that some unfavorables with note issues is simply mentality. I have a bad ear for key, I will admit, but I think if you have listened to the song as much as I have, it will sound a bit better. Try to focus on all the instruments at once, not one or a few at a time. I know it can be hard, although it's easier when you listen to it while doing something else. That's all :/
  25. Alright, sorry for the double post, but I touched up Ballad of Ages and wanted to get it posted with a thread bump. I didn't change a whole lot, but I made sure all the notes were in key and fixed up some chords / counter-melodies. I added a vibraphone on the left so make you listen for that. I was thinking about doing a "big-bang" ending, although I decided I would take a more restrained approach. I really don't see Lynna as something incredibly amazing; something more like a quiet ending suits it better, I think. So, I decided to leave the ending. I am kind of hoping this will be my last edit because I really don't want make a few minor edits only for it to take four hours to render again. And there you have it. Let me know if there's some brilliant suggestion or something that would greatly improve this piece. One thing I've been wondering is if possibly the Lynna (past) version should perhaps flow with the present one, or if they are going to be separated tracks in the list along with the others. I'm not sure what the take on this is, so let me know.
