  1. I think this is awesome, it reminds me of band I was in a couple years ago. Punk is definitely one of the most fun genre's to play no doubt. Some of the tracks were pretty damn hilarious especially the ending to the second one. Production was great too, and I might be convinced this was professional if the singing was more prominent. Great stuff though.
  2. Well at least they have the decency to at least give you a separate hard drive. I think I'll eventually have more samples on my hard drive than music, and I have a lot of music. Still, I don't think the extra money is worth it when you can use cheaper software and make it work just as well as long as you invest some time.
  3. I really like the style you picked and rolled with here; as far as the arrangement goes it's very well done. As far as mastering and quality, it does sound... just a little off. A couple parts I noticed some clipping when instruments got a bit loud. Turning down a few of the high frequencies might be a good idea. During the end it felt a little crowded probably because all the instruments weren't separated well enough. Play with your EQ a little until everything sounds pretty decently balanced. Some parts with the piano made it sound pretty fake, so I recommend humanizing it a bit, and it doesn't hurt to do it for your electronic instruments as well. Note velocities can give your piece a lot of flavor. That's all I have to say for now, but keep up the good work, I like your style. If I was part of new grounds I'd give an 8 as it is now.
  4. As far as iPhone apps go, I don't think it will need to be much greater than this, but then again I haven't written any music for an app. However, I will be once a friend of mine finishes an app he is working on. I'm not sure how long it will be until then, but if you're still looking for feedback around that time, then I'll be sure to share.
  5. Man, I wish I would have remembered the PRC, a bit sooner then I may have entered. Aw well at least I'm voting. It was a pretty freaking tough decision this time around; I am very enlightened (as usual) by Ben's arrangement and Showroom Dummy did his in a style I happen to love very much. I had to go strategic on this vote, but great job to both entrants. And awesome bonus mix Joe. I always love hard rock / metal orchestrations that are done well. Critisism: ...Why not eh? Ben: You won't get any if you tell me what samples / soundfont you use for your reverse crash cymbal. Joe: The kick being one velocity the whole song was kinda noticeable, but not enough to take away from the mix. Showroom Dummy: The last note you ended off with bothered me a lot.
  6. It's nice to know I can always count on Neko to feed my hunger for metal arrangements here on OCR. Never a let down.
  7. Thanks for the info Zephyr. It sort of works, but I'm probably not getting how to actually do it in FL. I think I finally decided what my best option is; mark the keys on my keyboard that fall into the scale I'm playing in! Not the most orthodox method but hey, it works. Good thing I know how to type so I don't need to see the letters
  8. This. Is. Awesome. Not only do I love jazz piano, but I love it even more when it's played this well. I say as long as you sent an mp3 quality version to the judges I don't see why this wouldn't get accepted. I don't think there's enough wrong with it to make it a no. Keep up the good work! I've also seen some of your other arrangements, they're all pretty awesome too.
  9. I am SOOO looking forward to this now. I've done a little screamin' / growls for an older band of mine I used to be a part of so it will be nice bit of nostalgia.
  10. I think I remember seeing one time or another someone on Youtube being able to turn off certain notes that didn't fall into the key signature they were playing in. They did this for recorded playing (through a midi keyboard), so they wouldn't accidentally hit wrong notes while doing it in real time. How does one do this in FL Studio 8? I could be mistaken, but if there is such an option, please let me know.
  11. Alright, I've decided to claim the Cold Dungeon theme so long as it is this: I've already been working on a ReMix of this for a little while now, so I know what direction I'm planning to go in. I might eventually need assistance with live instrumentation later, but I'll see once I get there. Me love this song long time.
  12. Updates: Jazz is Undead, Ballad of Ages Go check 'em out and let me know what you think here, or on the Project Forums. EDIT: Fixed the links to the songs to link to the actual host.
  13. This is just one more reason to love of Justin's work. I don't think I've heard the orchestrations of anyone else sound as great as his, let alone with samples. Keep it up, man.
  14. That would be great if you could PM where you got them to me; or even better, post it on the resources thread in the Project Forum. I have a feeling Ben would be ecstatic to have great chip-tuning software.
  15. This is seriously the most bad-ass chip-tuning I have ever heard, like ever. What I would give for some of those sounds you have... Just curious Proto, do you do strictly midi editing / sampling, or do you use a midi keyboard to play some parts yourself? And what's the DAW that you use? I'll probably think of some constructive criticism tomorrow.
  16. Long as in time to make it, or long as in long track? Cause a long track would be niiiiiiice.
  17. So sorry for the double-post, but just a quick update. -The Overworld theme I was working on seems to have just completely failed on me for some reason. FL will render any song I have but that one, and I can't even render it in a MIDI. No mp3, no wav, no MIDI, no OGG, no nothing. Sorry, but it looks like someone will have to break this in without a start from me. -As for a track update, I recently fixed up Jazz is Undead and would like to see some feedback on it. It's either 1 or 2 more changes from being REALLY completed, so let's get this one out of the way! Song can be found here.
  18. I would like to strongly recommend DKC3's Kastle Kaos as build-up song to the final boss arrangements. Even though it was the last boss song for that game it always struck me more as an "omg I'm about to fight last boss" tune. I think it'd be a great fit.
  19. I've been trying to render an mp3 of what I have so far and post it, but for some reason FL studio hasn't been cooperating; it seems to get to 100% and just stop there. I'll figure it out, but until then please be patient
  20. Check the "Track List" link on the first page. I think your options are pretty slim though unless you're that good at doing metal arrangements.
  21. Yo. Sorry it's been so long since I showed up, I've been working so much that I haven't had time to keep following the project... Now that school is almost starting again I'll actually have more free time than I did . Anyway, the Overworld theme that I was originally working on... I did complete a decent chunk of the song and so far it turned out the way I wanted, but that was probably early June or even earlier. I did have someone that was planning to help, buuuuuuut they had to go on vacation last minute so the song went to hell. I lost pretty much all my creative inspiration for this song, so if anyone wants to pick up from where I left off feel free to let me know and I'll whip up a MIDI or flp file. I've only actually completed one song over this summer, and that was an original piece for my "band" (I know it should have been the project song ). Well, other than all that, it's good to be back! EDIT: Oh yes, I also want to fix up my Lynna City song. Going back and listening to it a couple times made me go "bleh".
  22. Great job Ro, I haven't been able to get this song out of my head. Mostly the bell melody.
  23. I had to listen to these on the toilet in order to prevent any mess. Party song was a little scary though.
  24. ...this includes flashbacks, time travel, parallel universes, etc. EDIT: crap, beat me to my own post...
  25. Maybe, if all theories considered, it's before she pissed him off?
