  1. Very, very nice. I'd say put it up for completion once some clipping is gone. That's the only real negative thing I was hearing not getting nit-picky, so make sure you're adding soft clippers to EVERY instrument in the channel mixer.
  2. This is one of my favorites of McVaffe. Thankfully justice has been served.
  3. Anthony and Joshua are still amazing at working those solos. It's one thing to just play up and down the scales, but it takes a good ear to make very unique solo where every random note grabs your attention.
  4. I don't see how the "Pyro" one won... it could be I was voting more on sex appeal than anything else, but I definitely think Morrigan should have gotten more votes. Very professional coloring and it isn't as awkward as other pictures.
  5. Oh hell, why not. Prepare for a new hit single by a German indie band know as:
  6. Well there's no use arguing about it now since there's relatively no more tracks to claim. Everybody was all over this album project like white on rice, so it's too late to matter. He'll probably come back to OCR with a crazy good DKC2 ReMix that he's been mastering over the years with the skills he learned in some ancient musican temple... or something
  7. Man, can't wait to hear what Nicole's Hot-head Bop sounds like. I've been wanting to do something with that track for a long time. I totally picture this as a great techno rock song, though not sure I'll get to see that. I also think it's sad Protricty didn't get in on this
  8. Well I can definitely add more background instruments to this, it would probably be better off anyway; plus I'm not sure what you thought was the "best part"... the melody was just repeated during that section. As for notes not fitting, I can guarantee you that they are all right. Lynna just has some weird accidentals in it's scale, you check you the midi if you want. And I think I can do a big finish... I hope
  9. You know I was kind of thinking this would sound better if you added some more instruments, changed up the lead or something once in a while, or both. You'd be surprised how refreshing it can be to hear a new instrument, making things a bit less boring / repetitive. It probably wouldn't matter as much if there were lyrics in a song, but that's why music without lyrics needs to sound as diverse as possible. And the kick sounds good, along with the louder leads, however you might want to add a fruity soft clipper to the kick in it's own channel. I'm pretty sure I'm hearing a little bit a clipping, but it could also be my crappy headphones
  10. I know I've tried my hand at a few songs like Aqua Rock and Yallam, however nothing I'd really want to see submitted yet. I think an album would be well deserved, but I know I wouldn't be the one to organize it. I might come around with something soon, but I have no idea what it will be. And that being said, I think Golden Sun 2 had better songs overall, even though some are the same / similar.
  11. Alright it's finally done rendering, this darn song of mine. Here's version two of the Lynna; I decided to name it "Ballad of Ages" (and bump the thread ).
  12. Alright cool. Then you might want to check this site out. I like to recommend it (and so does DarkeSword ) for it's good samples. http://soundfonts.darkesword.com/
  13. Well in the beginning of this new version, I think that in the pad (or whatever it is, sounds kinda stringy) overpowers the melody a little bit. It also sounds a bit out of key (whatever scale the song the rest of the instruments are in). I definitely think you should beef up the kick a bit more so you can hear it over the bass. The string lead throughout a good portion of the song seems to be a little to weak to be a lead. Perhaps make it more treble or change the lead altogether. I would also recommend adding some decay to those "ahhs" in the background. Aside from this you've got a pretty solid song to play with. A lot of it might just be the sample quality. Oh, and do you mind if I ask what program you used to make this?
  14. Thanks for the feedback, I just tried to some suggestions before I started taking it a apart a bit more. I wasn't truly going to keep it that repetitive, but the chord info is much appreciated.I've already fixed some stuff up anyway on the beginning and end, so I just have to focus on mostly melodies, mid-song. As for the clipping I AM using the fruity soft clipper and compressor on the master volume, however it sounds fine to me. I'm not getting any clipping on my end, so it's probably just my crappy headphones (I really need new ones anyway). I'll try to see if I can get it to sound a bit better than it does, though. Thanks
  15. Okay so, I kind of wanted to surprise the thread with a mix I created myself. I was just doing this for the heck of it, other than helping with the Pirate Theme, so I decided to try my hand at a Lynna City mix. This is my very first attempt an an orchestral piece so hopefully I did it relatively well. I know it's not quite completed, I still need to add a couple effects and mess the EQ a bit. I also know the intro and ending are a bit iffy, but they have the general idea of what I'm going for. Let me know what you think though, I need to know what other people hear. Instrument volumes are VERY liable for change. http://www.tindeck.com/listen/gbfz
  16. This, my friend, is called tension. I think it helps create a certain feel for the song that suits it well. I'm not sure if hewhoisiam meant for it to be that, but that's what I'm getting from it. Another possible suggestion would be using some real instruments for harmony of some sort... or if you still don't want it quite as real and raw, try an electric piano or something. I just think it might help if you beefed up the end with harmonies
  17. I'd say that the new version is quite a bit better, however, it might be just me, but I only hear the guitar at one part nearing the end of the song. You might need to make it more noticeable, or just add more parts, but other than that the sound it is good for it's purpose. I don't think you're trying to get an amazing lead here, so it sounds good. As for the drums, it might just be the soundfont for making the snare sound off. I would actually recommend trying a better drum set from here, possibly: http://soundfonts.darkesword.com/ Experiment with what sounds best. Other than that I really enjoyed this this mix. I'm probably going to guess it will be perfect after the next update (to me anyway). Don't think you have to follow my advice either, but I'm just following my ear (which terrible at picking up key by the way x_x) Oh yeah, I also might think about perhaps helping with remixing. Not sure what song I'm itching to do, but we'll see, as I have other stuff I'm working on. I use FL and would feel much better about a collab, but ironically enough, I can't use the program "Collab" >_<
  18. That's a pretty interesting find right there. Nice picture of djpretzel too. I think it captures his musical side quite... intuitively. I know some people mistake my dad for Robert Deniro. I usually wonder what they are high on.
  19. I'm gonna go ahead and bump this thread... Check out V4. I'm also working on a V5 where I am actually trying to add a bassline along with some more things. I really want to fine tune this, so hopefully it will get there.
  20. Geez, I wish that I could afford a VST like that. I know I have been wanting EastWest's Ministry of Rock, myself. They also have other awesome AND expensive VSTs that I would kill to own :'/
  21. He was just asking if we thought his VST was convincing enough to use for the ReMix. This isn't his actual work that he plans to use. It's called adding instruments on top of midi channels. And yes, the guitars can sound quite convincing with a few small touches. Speaking of which, do you mind if I ask what VST you are using?
  22. It's alright, I know what you mean, HoboKa. I should be able to manage though, I'm going to touch it up a bit more before I finally submit it. The percussion I plan to make a bit more articulate using panning and such, and I want to key things myself. If I can't at least figure that out, I'll eventually be needing help on ALL my projects And thanks for the compliments. EDIT: Alrighty, I have V4 up on the first post. I tried to adjust everything to an A minor scale so HOPEFULLY most of it's in key. I'm not gonna bother going back and rendering it again for one barely noticeable off-note. I also changed the percussion a little, and made the overall volume less intense. Let me know what you think.
  23. Yoshi's Lullaby http://www.ocremix.org/remix/OCR00485/ This, I think, is one of McVaffe's most simple, yet most well done pieces.
